That reminds me of my father-in-laws German Shepherd. Ted had a salad garden close to the house but had trouble with rabbits getting into the garden and eating the vegetables. So he ran an electric fence around the garden and hooked it up to the battery charger for his dozer. He ran the wire low to the ground and used Coke bottles stuck in the ground as insulating terminals to run the wire around the garden.

Ole Bowser (the dog) comes by one day and decides to mark his turf by peeing on the Coke bottle. The dog howled for about 2 minutes before his bladder emptied and the stream broke. Needless to say, whenever we went for a walk down the road, Bowser gave all Coke bottles a wide bearth as he walked around them.
