This week starts the District Track Meets and for the 7A-4 my pick is Nashville to win the whole thing.(District and State) Does anyone out there think different?

former pioneer

Nashville has a phenomenal track team. They get my vote too.

I am not sure about the 4-4A. On the boys side I would say Dardanelle and on the girls, Waldron I guess.

Not sure about the boys but Waldron is your girls 4-4A District Champion team. Julia Huie from Clinton won the 1600 and 800 and I, Hunter Mays, won the 800 for the second year in a row. Lookin forward to Tuesday. Who all will be there? We should have a designated FF meeting.

katrinas81

The Huie girl is a pretty good runner. I saw her take 2nd in Mt. View in the mile.  I guess I saw you as well.

Yeah she had a very off day that day. She signed with ATU. Yeah I got 2nd in both the mile and 800 that day, an off one for me as well. I had no clue you were there. Who were you there with?

0Super_Scrapper7

So does any teams have enough to knock off the Scrappers and Scrapperettes off the top spot (expected to win state)?

I wouldn't get such the big head yet.....Waldron is taking pretty much the whole girls team that they took to district.  We won almost every field event, except pole vault (we don't have it), and I don't know about triple jump.  We also won nearly every race that day as well.
Huie is an awesome runner!  She has a VERY good chance to win state! She has the prettiest stride I have ever seen!    By the way, Mays, I seen you run last night. You had a great run!  You probably didn't see me, though.  We all kind of blend in together.

waldrons girls have girls in alll events except 2 i think

jacketpride07

There is a chance that Clinton could possibly take the Boys and Girls 800 titles. A chance though. It would be cool if it happened.

So I mentioned it earlier, but anyone else up for a FF meeting at Nashville Tuesday?

waddle_10

yea clintons runners looked pretty good all what 3 of em haha sorry had to say that

jacketpride07

Dude that was cheap. But hey, all three of us are going to state. I say that is a whoppin 100% success rate at District. Did you run yesterday SportsRlife?

Booneville won the boys for the fifth year in a row.  Congrats Bearcats, and the Lady Cats had their best showing at district in quite a while finishing second to Waldron.  A distant second, yes, but still second.

What did you finish at district and what did Huie get?  That girl is very tall, what is she like 6'0".  Who was the girl who outkicked her at Mt. View?  Was she from a larger classification?

I got first in the 800. Huie got first in the 1600 and the 800 and yes she is around 6'0". The girl that outkicked her was from Cushman which is a smaller classification but like I said earlier, that was a bad day for both her and I.

Whitmore ends with senior slam

BY PETE PERKINS ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

NASHVILLE — Four championships in a single school year was enough to satisfy this senior.
A.J. Whitmore helped lead the Nashville Scrappers to the Class 4A state track and field championship at Scrapper Stadium on Tuesday night.
Whitmore finished second in three events — long jump, triple jump and high jump — and Nashville won the title with 98 points.
Ashdown finished second with 68. Lonoke was third with 62.
Nashville also won the girls' state championship with 88 points. Newport finished second with 69 and Mena third with 50.
"This is a great way to end my career here," said Whitmore, who signed a national letter of intent in February to play football for Tulsa.
Whitmore quarterbacked Nashville to the Class 4A football championship last fall, and he helped Nashville to the Class 4A state indoor track title last winter and the Class 4A baseball championship last week.
Whitmore had one last chance for an individual state championship after finishing second in the high jump and triple jump,
Whitmore was in third after five long jumps, with a best of 20 feet, 4/2 inches. He trailed the leader, Dawson Urrutia of Union Christian, and Osceola's Cam Baker. Whitmore went 21-6 to take the lead on his final jump. "I was trying too hard," Whitmore said. "When I finally relaxed, I hit a good jump." Baker and Urrutia had one more. Baker went first and jumped 21-5. Whitmore watched as Urrutia made his sixth and final jump. It was marked and measured at 22-0 for the victory. Urrutia's longest jump of his first five measured 21-4 /4. "I just thought, 'Get speed. Get height,' '' Urrutia said. "And that's what I did." Urrutia also defeated Whitmore at the indoor championships.
"He's very good," Urrutia said. "It's a great honor to beat that kind of an athlete. He's a great athlete."
"[Whitmore has] been great for us," Nashville Coach Rick Baker said. "He's scored big in the three events he ran today for us since he was a sophomore. He's going to be hard to replace."
Baker had encouraged Whitmore to jump long earlier.
"That's just the way he is," Baker said. "He's made me have a heart attack 600 times."
Whitmore's career at Nashville ended with a thirdplace finish in the 1,600-meter relay.
"This has been exactly what I wanted out of a high school career," he said. "I couldn't ask for any more."
