I know stats are for losers and winners don't care.  But does anyone have the stats on the game last night.  I'm curious how many total yards Watts had in the first half.  Also curious of the stats on both teams.

Junction City drives past Bearden

Dragons win title, clinch No. 1 seed    By ROD HARRINGTON    Weekend Editor

JUNCTION CITY – The Dragons trailed by 22 at the half, but roared back Thursday to beat Bearden 45-36 and capture the 7-2A East title and No. 1 seed for the playoffs.
The Dragons improve to 7-1 overall and win the district with a 6-0 mark. The Bears fall to 9-1 and 5-1 and will be a No. 2 seed in the playoffs, which begin a week from tonight.
"Congratulations men. The defense, you got out there and won the game for us in the second half," said Junction head coach David Carpenter after the game. In a special gesture, Bearden coach Mike Cox entered the Junction locker room to congratulate the Dragons, saying their weightlifting program made the difference in the second half. He also said they played with class throughout the hard-hitting game.
Each team won a half on Thursday: everything went right for Bearden in the first half while Junction did the same in the second. Bearden's backers had said all week they were playing for statewide respect, and they no doubt got it after Thursday's game. In the end, however, Junction's conditioning and weightlifting programs simply overwhelmed Bearden.
Dewayne "The Show" Watts, a 6-0 junior quarterback, lived up to the hype Thursday. Watts ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries and threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns – all in the first half. The Bears jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Junction found the scoreboard, eventually leading 36-14 at intermission. The second half belonged to the Dragons, however, as they held Bearden to just 62 total yards. The defense recorded three fumble recoveries and a pass interception in the second half, plus tackling Watts in the end zone for a safety.
"What you gotta take from this ... whenever the world is the darkest ... don't you ever quit swinging," said assistant coach Brad Smith after the game. Defensive coordinator Rob Lowe added, "To go from what we did to win is great. That's Dragon ball. That's tradition." Assistant Mike Barrett said, "defense wins championships."
Senior tailback Justin Easter had 181 yards on 16 carries to lead the Dragons' offense, which pounded out 400 yards on the ground. Easter had runs of 59 and 51 yards. Junior Justin Cook added 98 yards on 20 carries, while sophomore Grantel Kennedy had 47 yards on 9 carries.
Watts on the second play of the game went 54 yards for the touchdown. Juan Hernandez added the extra-point kick to make it 7-0 with 11:04 left in the first. The Dragons mounted their own drive but lost a fumble inside Bearden's 15-yard line. Watts then led the Bears on a 9-play drive over 82 yards, culminated by his 4-yard TD run. The drive nearly stalled, however, when Cook nearly made an interception near midfield. The ball deflected off Cook's hands right into the hands of a Bearden receiver. Hernandez was good on the kick and Bearden had a 14-0 lead with 4:07 left in the first.
After recovering a Junction fumble, Watts on the next play connected with Kendrick Whitaker on a 30-yard TD pass. Hernandez made it 21-0 Bearden with 2:18 left in the first.
Junction finally got on the board with 1:01 left in the first when Kennedy went over from 4 yards out. Daniel Hopson's kick made it 21-7 Bearden.
The Bears came right back, however, when Watts found Whitaker open for a 20-yard TD pass. Watts ran in the twopoint conversion, giving the Bears a 29-7 lead. Junior quarterback Eric Major answered for the Dragons, scoring from 8 yards out with 1:35 left in the half. Hopson's kick made it 29-14, but then Watts found Whitaker open for a 55-yard TD pass with just 22 seconds left in the half. Whitaker on the play headed to the sideline, but stopped. Nobody in the Junction secondary saw him and Watts threw a perfect pass to the open receiver, who then beat two defenders to the goalline. Hernandez made it 36-14 at intermission, but that was the last scoring Bearden would produce on Thursday. Junction took the secondhalf kickoff and marched 55 yards on 11 plays, capped by Easter's 1-yard dive over the top. Major connected with Julio Hernandez for the two point conversion, making the score 36-22 with 6:50 left in the third. That's when the game got interesting.
Sophomore Devin Ball (6-3, 200) picked up a Watts fumble and scampered 81 yards for the touchdown, breaking numerous tackles along the way and looking like a man among boys. Hopson's kick left Junction down 36-29 but the momentum had clearly shifted.
With 1:51 left in the third, Kennedy scored from 7 yards out after Julio Hernandez recovered another fumble one play after Ball's touchdown. Hopson's kick tied the game at 36-36, which is how the third quarter ended. The Dragons were threatening to score again, but senior Justin Hoof's fumble popped straight into the arms of Kasey Moore. Once again Junction's defense rose to the challenge, stopping Bearden on three running plays inside their own 10-yard line. On fourth down, Whitaker's pass went straight up in the air. Waiting for it was freshman Byran "Big Baby" Jones, who made the interception in the end zone for a touchdown. Hopson's kick made it 43-36 for the Dragons.
On the ensuing kickoff, Major came up with the fumble, giving Junction the ball back. The Dragons picked up little yardage and Major was forced to punt. For some reason Watts let the ball roll down to Bearden's 1-yard line. On the third play Watts was tackled in the end zone by sophomore Alvie McIntosh. The safety gave Junction the 45-36 final. Bearden, with no time outs, could do little to stop the Dragons, who simply ran the time out with their running game.
Watts finished with 160 yards rushing on 17 carries and threw for 187 yards on 6-of-11 passing. Major's only pass attempt for the Dragons went for 22 yards and a first down to Hopson.
Bearden finished with 413 yards of offense, but lost 3-of-4 fumbles in the second half. The Dragons rushed for 400 yards on 61 carries. Junction lost both of their fumbles in the first half but still had 200 yards of offense. Cook had an interception in the first half for Junction.
Jones (6-4, 280) finished with seven tackles, including two big sacks for losses. McIntosh also had a sack. Julio Hernandez had 7 tackles while Ball had 6.
The Dragons, by gaining the No. 1 seed in the lower half of the brackets, could be at home as long as they win in the playoffs. Junction will open postseason play next Friday against Mountain Pine, the No. 4 seed from the 5-2A Conference.

To break out the stats for Watts:

Quote

Watts ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries and threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns – all in the first half.

Watts finished with 160 yards rushing on 17 carries and threw for 187 yards on 6-of-11 passing.

Very good athlete.  If he can stay healthy, he will be a force again next year and should get some college offers if he has the academics.

Thanks for the stats.  Once again, Great Game on both sides.  I think Coach Cox will get Beardens program to JC's level in the next three yrs.  He presses football down to the 7th grade and will install a very needed offseason program.  He's an all around "build a program" type of coach.  I think we are very fortunate to have him.
