That's what Jerry Langston told me personally as well.    Though Langston told me that he basically called the same things that Coach Davis was calling but that it was an issue of player (and fan confidence) that had taken a beating with the shocking and bizarre loss to PC.

As the playoffs went on it was basically Coach Langston who was the "figurehead" and Coach Davis who was calling the shots again but by then Strong was rolling and no one cared.

I often miss working at Strong.

It wasn't a BIZARRE loss to PC.  Chapel had their number that night.  Dixon got loose for a big run early, then they held him in check the rest of the night.
PC had a superior gameplan that night.

A brief history lesson of Strong will tell you that Langston couldn't stay away from the football program.... even long after he should have.

In 2011, Strong won a state title with a record of 10-3.

Strong's three losses were to:
    a (9-2) Junction team
    a (10-2) Bearden team
    a (4-5) Parkers team

KD's position reassignment was made at mid-season and he never lost another high school football game (while putting up some ridiculous rushing numbers).

Even after the Parker's Chapel loss,   Strong was behind at Norphlet 16-14 at the half the next week.    They made a personnel change at halftime.    They put the hulking senior backup tackle Tyre Hinson in at Tight End.    This allowed them to seal off the edge on that side enabling  Dixon and others to repeatedly get free around the corner in the second half.

As a fan of small town football I hope he does well. The 8 can't lose another school. They just need one win to be in the playoffs.

Hiring an assistant coach when there are highly qualified head coaches that applied. Makes no sense.

Can you enlighten us on the “highly qualified head coaches” that were passed over for this job?

All irrelevant.

Numbers are good in Strong - 25+ from what I understand.  They needed somebody who can help them get kids in, not just out.  Its the next few years that things get dicey numbers wise.

Any idea on Crossett assistant?  Lawson, by chance?

With an enrollment of 84 students in strong high school it’s only a matter of time before the number game makes it just a basketball school.

Not what AAA is reporting . Review their numbers . I suppose if u  subtracted  the 7 th and 8 th grades from that total then that would be pretty close

AAA will average 9-10-11 for the last three years of the cycle being calculated..

2017-2018 reported actual for 9-10-11-12 was 90.
2017-2018 reported actual for 8-9-10-11 was also 90.  These kids should be the one available for 2018-2019.

Your number of 84 and the 90 aren't materially different.  I just posted the links to show the snapshot of what Strong has in their grade pipeline.

I don't think the ADE reports gender by grade but there are quite a few more males than females in the high school (7-12).  That might help Strong's football participation numbers a little.

Apparently so.  I don't normally read the Ashley News Observer and wasn't aware of that when I shared the EDNT link.

When we say removed do we mean not going to coach or removed from teaching at the school?

Removed from coaching. For what I understand he still had his job as a teacher.
