It's a position where you are just a coach and not a teacher. You would be a non faculty coach.

Oh, OK, In that case, never. lol

A few schools have volunteer assistants, but itís usually a stat keeper role. There are a few sports where a non teacher can be coach: swim and dive, maybe bowling?
