I wish Coach D nothing but the best in what happens after this but I hope that they do go through a process of hiring the best applicant instead of letting politics play a role in this because I think we have had some great coaches in Jr high and other sports at Monticello that I believe politics played a role in them being moved to other positions or not coaching anymore JMO
No politics in a hiring lol, good luck with that.

Think the Billie's could lure Farmington Head Coach Adams down there? He would be a good get to turn that program around. I bet he could turn them right round actually.

Thanks, but no thanks..

Patton is a central Arkansas/NWA guy.

And it’s a lateral move at best.

So who do you have in mind?

Just did some quick looking. Dustin Prescot used to coach for Des Arc took them to state championship game, he has been out of coaching for two years but I'm sure he can still coach he was a DC at Warren

Trey Outlaw one of the DCs at Wynne, played at Monticello and at Arkansas State, Wynne had the #1 defense this year.

Seth Oxner online coach at Monticello played at UAM, Monticello legend.

Caleb Morgan DL coach at Hamburg also the strength and conditioning coordinator.

Tyler Paschal secondary coach at Wynne, Van is his dad blood line in coaching. I think it may be time to bury the hatchet with the hate for VP.

No not at all just naming some coaches who have ties to the billies. Of that list I think there might be two who could possibly considered who has HC experience or who's one of the DCs for one of the 5A power houses.

Im sorry but none of those guys are seasoned enough to be HC's.  I like each name mentioned, but they need a few more years before they will be ready to be a HC.

Wasn't Bo a young HC when he started at Warren? Don't discount someone bc they aren't "seasoned".

Warren was Bo's FIRST head coaching job.  I'd say it's turned out pretty well for him, and Warren.

Exactly! Not saying any of these guys are the next Bo however, like I said two of these guys have either been a head coach in a state championship game, or is a coordinator for a team that is likely to go to the state championship game plus they have ties to the town. At least worth a consideration instead of a "Heck No".

He resigned because he felt like he couldn't get the job done.

Warren found a diamond in the rough in Bo.  Plus Bo never coached or played at Warren.  He is from a diff part of the State.    We have tried the former players/coaches at Monticello, and that hasn't worked.  Time for a new system, blood line, etc.

We tried 2 guys who haven't been head coaches until they were in their fifties, they were old nothing against them they're great guys and coaches but, there is a reason it took them that long to be a HC not sure why you're discounting everyone on that list? Name negatives about Prescot and Outlaw, other than age? I get the others whether they don't have coordinator experience or have coached at Monticello during the past couple of years but, the first two have been successful. And as far as Bo being from a different part of the state, what does that matter? And Morgan is at Hamburg, pretty good program there. I get Paschal but, you know what we haven't had great success since his dad has been here. Sometimes you have to take a look a step back and look at the big picture.

My point was he wasn't from Warren, he applied for the job and got it.  ZERO ties to Warren, he got the job because he earned it.  Not because he is/was a Warren Legend as a player.

Being a HC and taking a Des Arc team to the state championship isn't earning it? Having the #1 defense in the state at Wynne isn't earning it? At least a shot for an interview?

As far as hometown guys I was just asking. I want the best candidate but now it sounds like these two guys shouldn't be considered since they're from said town.

Monticello shouldn't have to take a chance on a young unproven assistant coach.  They should be able to go out and find a proven winning head coach somewhere and bring him to Monticello.

I have to admit I am a little bit intrigued by your suggestion of Dustin Prescott.  He took Des Arc to the state title game in 2013 which is very impressive for a HC in his late 20s. But why has he been out of coaching for the last 2 years?

Because he moved up to 4A and took over the embattled Bauxite job.....and it was a disaster.

Dustin is a south arkansas boy. Grew up in Rison. And is a UAM GRAD.

Last update I got on him was, he has chicken houses and he is out of coaching. But that could be a here say.

Something to think about....the last two times Monticello opened the job up to all applicants, the coach who was hired won a state title.

All of you are aiming way too low.

Rumor mill says they are going after BB and that's not Brett Beilema.

Not for Monticello.

Facilities better in warren if not equal.
Fan base is equal.
Kids are bought into the system here from the pee wee level up. Complete overhaul from ground up over there.
Family rooted in Warren. His kids are well into grade school and Jr high.

Nah Monticello stadium as a whole is way better.  I spend a lot of time in both press boxes and its not close.  Concession stands, bathrooms, visiter bleachers, etc are all better at Monticello.  Now that we have added the new dressing room behind home bleachers, the away team don't have to use the bath house at the pool, lol..
