I think Paris is a deserved heavy favorite to repeat as champions.  The only one who might challenge them in their half of the bracket might be Hoxie.  In the other half, Conway Christian has a number of good wins, Episcopal can't be overlooked and Lavaca might be a dark horse.

Here are today's games:

It's the first state tournament appearance for HHG and Charleston.  They are both second-year programs.

Good luck to the Lady Tigers (of Charleston)!

An impressive run by Mayflower to be sure - but one that likely comes to an end today one would think.

I myself had expected Lavaca, the way they had been playing lately, to beat Mayflower.  To be sure Mayflower is also tough (I've seen both play).

With Paris in the semis, Lavaca winning two matches and Mansfield winning a first-round match as well, overall a good showing by the West.

Paris wins in 3, Conway Christian wins in 4.

Those two square off at 7 pm Sat.

The state champs will be the Lady Eagles, that much is for sure!

From what I heard about it, it was a great match that Paris won in 4, with Peevy getting 30 (!) kills.

Even without Peevy, Paris should again be very strong next season because they played a lot of juniors and sophomores, most of whom played a big part.

Is she not playing Volleyball at the next level?

I don't really know.  If not she certainly should.

She signed with Arkansas St. for basketball.
