Pre-season games are not included.  I'll update this post throughout the season to include state-wide rankings (all teams in the state get a ranking).  The rankings will jump around a bit until a teams true average rating is found....that's about the 5th game of the season.  If your team isn't listed or the record is incorrect, please post the results of your games to one of the "Scores" threads and I'll update the rankings.

Downsouth, to head off the inevitable complaints about how your rankings must be biased for or against some school, would you take a moment to describe how your ranking system works?  Also, do you plan to include scores from tournaments that play somewhat shortened games (eg. 30 minute halves)?

I just typed a long explanation but got timed out when I submitted it.....I will give just a very brief intro now......

The bare bones of it is that I'm from south Florida and have no allegiance to any HS in Arkansas. 

My rankings are based on mathematic formulas that account for the quality of each opponent, and how well you did against each opponent separately (how many goals scored and goals allowed versus each opponent).  You only get credit for winning by 6 goals.....winning by 15 goals or 6 goals has the same effect in the rankings.  Also, you can earn more points by losing a close game to a strong team compared to beating a poor or average team.  In the rankings, the creme always rises to the top.  By the end of the season, you will find that my computer rankings will correctly determine the winner about 80% of the time.

Additionally, pre-season games are NOT counted.  However, regular season tournament games with 30 minute halves will count.

They went to Tulsa and played two games vs Jenks (When Bartlesville had to cancel for weather) They won the first game 1-0 and lost the second game 2-1. They beat Harrison last night 3-0.

Ok. The first game of the day was:

DeQueen - 3
Hope - 2

This game was intense. Hope tied 2-2 with 30 seconds left and DeQueen put in another goal with 5 seconds left! Wow!

Second game was:

El Dorado - 5
Hope - 1

El Dorado comes out much more calmer and as a team in this game with the first half registering 3 goals.

Semi-Finals were:

DeQueen - 3
Valley View - 0

and then

Valley View - 3
El Dorado - 0

El Dorado comes out sloppy again and things went downhill from the first goal. Different today than last night was by half they only scored 1.

To be honest, I don't know what went wrong. But since it is early in the season, there is room to improve! I didn't stay for the championship game but if I did, I would think DeQueen won. But I don't know.

Batesville beat Marion 6-0 and Paragould 4-1 in the tournament they were in, along with the win over Jonesboro.  Jonesboro also has 3 more wins.  I think they are 3-1

Give it time, Blood.  DownSouth's rankings in year's past turned out pretty darn accurate but it is still very early in the year.  Also, you still have several teams with very little track record at this point in the year.

I'm looking forward to seeing DeQueen this year.

Right now there is very little difference in team rating between #7 and #21.  I expect those to jump around in the next week when more scores come in.  Results against Russelville and Heritage will definitely help figure out where De Queen belongs in the top 20.

Batesville beat Marion 6-0 and Paragould 4-1 in the tournament they were in, along with the win over Jonesboro.  Jonesboro also has 3 more wins.  I think they are 3-1

Jonesboro is 4-1-1 I believe .. With wins over GCT and Westside by more than 6, Nettleton by 3 or so in a shorter tournament game... Had valley view beat until 7 sec left in game when the ref gives a free kick in front of box that was scored for valley view..the ref still hasn't been able to provide an explanation for the call, why it was called, or who it was on... But that's how it goes...they play west Memphis Tuesday to open conference play and Paragould Thursday before hitting the meat of the schedule .. This years 6a east group will be up for grabs.. Lots of talented teams now...

Batesville.jonesboro scored on themselves twice.. Ball in air no offense around and two defenders collided going for header and it rolled off them and went in.. Then off a cross hit someone in face and went in that was looming the other way..  Batesville  played great tho....just did a little better that day in the 25 degree weather snow and 30 mph wind...batesville beat Jonesboro that night in the finals..

It was 9-0 at half... and the starters played for 8 min. Not pretty. But give Green Forest credit, they kept playing and had a good attitude.

Any other team in the 4A conference would end up the same if they played Springdale. Not saying it would make a difference, but I went to the game and notice Green Forest only had 2 starting defenders. I heard many went to the track meet held that day
