Ahhh, looks like the jacks enter the 8-4a basketball fray.

We should have a pretty good year with the starters we have coming back.

Big Fan

Can someone post last year's final conference standings?

Dollarway did not have all of its football players back. So I wouldint get to excited with that win

Paper said Chapmon played and scored 22. He's football right?

They absolutely had there basketball players back.  Chapman played well in the first half, Dumas pounded the ball inside the entire second half and Dollarway had no answer.

The Billies come to Dewitt on 12/14 to play your Dragons.

Big Fan

Dumas beat a good Drew Central team 71-65 to move to 3-0 on the season.

Drew Central played in a tournament in DeWitt this week, I think they played England last night, don't know the results. I did notice that DeWitt only has 8 players.

Big Fan

From what I can gather so far, it sounds like Dumas, Crossett and Monticello will be the favorites to win the 8-4A this year.  Am I missing something on the other teams?

It's early in the season, but I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the win over Drew Central, if they scored 65. Monticello's wins seem to be over better competition. I did see Star City was beaten by 2A England. And that is not a knock on SC I saw England early this week and they are pretty talented.

You might say.  We can find out together in Warren on Jan 11 or in Monticello on Feb 5.

Thanks for that score update. Saw it on SRC.com the score right after you said it. HA

Reading that Warren has 17 kids on the squad. Not sure if that is good since I'm not that caught up with basketball. It was also noted that Warren has speed, quickness, size, and depth this year. Per Salineriverchronicle.com. It also said that Ryan Clary, who if I remember correctly is close to 6'5 led the Jacks with 18 points and Darveon Brown followed him with 15 points with 9 other players scoring.

With the kids we have coming back and coming off of football season, I think we will compete in the 8-4a just fine.

Update on the Mills game Billie Blue.  Monticello was up 26-13 at halftime, but got out of their game plan in the second half and lost by 2.  Of course, Mills is one of the best 5A teams in the state this year and I'm sure they made some adjustments at the half.

Billie Blue

Thanks Big Fan for the updates I heard the coach at the jr. high game Thurs. night say if we would hit our free throws we would have won easily but like you say a tough team from 5A. Will be a big rivary game against DC at home we should win easily

Dumas looks, as usual to be pretty good this year.  SC at 4-2 with a win over Eldo looks pretty impressive as well.  Who are SC's two losses to?

This makes the 12/20 Monticello/McGehee game very interesting.  Have been seeing some good scores out of McGehee.  Don't travel to many basketball games, but I may make this one.

McGehee cycles about 9 players. They run the crap out of the half court trap just ask Dumas. It's pressure defense the entire game.

The Billies go at least ten deep, maybe twelve.  Best team Monticello has had in several years.  This should be a GREAT game!  Gonna try to be there.
