Toughest Achievement
« on: May 09, 2010, 06:28:27 PM »

Let's stir the boy/girl, divisional pot here: who's accomplished the most impressive feat? Bentonville Girls reaching 4 consecutive finals, CHS boys winning 3 of 4, or Searcy boys going 4 straight.  All very impressive achievements nonetheless!

Even though this is coming from a very biased side... I would have to say searcy! It's hard for any team to go four in a row especially playing the same team three years in a row! Even with the lack of talent in the 6a they have proved themselves worthy enough to hang with the 7a teams... Beatin Conway Russellville and should have beat Cabot instead of tying... Catholics run has also been very impressive tho! It's a close call but I would hve to say searcy!

Dont leave out searcy girls. They have reached the finals 4 straight years and won it 3 of the 4.

Its great Searcy has won 4 titles in all but Im sorry but all 4 of those titles would not equal 1 7A state Championship. Searcy might finish 4 or 5th in 7A in either conference. Searcy has an ok soccer organization but is ten times better compared to who they play. They might have better competition if they went down to 5A or tried to go up to 7A. Catholic beat a Conway team two times which the 2007 team was really good but the team in 2009 was prob the best highschool team for a while the whole group was good from the Keeper to the Front and they still had some on the bench. The russelville team had a great offense and beat Catholic all 3 times in the season. For Me it would have to be Catholic then LRCA then Searcey.... still a great thing but Sorry its just their competition... but im ready for the hate messages now... sorry Ha

I'm gonna throw in some logic for everyone to chew on.  Feel free to comment. Topic is toughest achievement...not most impressive.  I'd say while Searcy is certainly the best numerically...may not have been the most difficult of the 3.  Girls soccer is absolute chaos...so getting there 4 times is pretty impressive.  Catholic arguably shouldn't have won 2 of their 3, which makes it arguably even more impressive.  Searcy clearly had the best team in 6A, so they should have won.  CHS had maybe the 2nd or 3rd best team for at least two of their titles...went in as 2nd seeds...beat 2 first seeds.  Searcy certainly beat some of the 7A teams...but isnt really relevant to their achievement. Again, all 3 stats are pretty ridiculous, so there are no losers here. Thoughts?

Ive heard this so many times, they didnt play there starters, then people say thats their fault, it was in the beginning of the season and it was basically JV vs Searcy V and the score was close for both games, so now people will say tht doesnt matter, so i guess they are "right" now, searcy is good just not that good.... If you know soccer you cant tell me there is not a difference if LA Galaxy beats Chelsea when Lampard,Drogba,Terry,Cech, and lets say two others dont play and LA wins its not really a win....

I'm not really sure how that addresses any of the points above...in fact you agree with what i said...repeat: Searcy by the numbers HAS won more trophies.  no one is debating a hard fact. the question is which was the hardest to do? i think you could also thrown in average margin of victory/parity of competiton/etc.  so, yes searcy has trophies, but were they hard to win? also, CHS has 4 total wins in the 7a, so i guess the trophies are there too...  Looking for reasonable discussion...

The question isn't who is the best team, it is which is the toughest achievement.....

I am a 7A guy, but Searcy won 4 consecutive State Championships against schools that, at least to the AAA, are similar in enrollment.....it's apples to apples.....

In my mind, of the teams listed, Searcy is only ones that is undefeated in 4 consecutive State Championship games......no one else can claim that.....end of discussion.....

boys and girls soccer are not apples to apples...nor are the different divisions.  if they were, there'd be no discussion. so...not end of discussion.

That's BS. I know several players from all of the 7a teams who searcy played. We've played against each other since we were 10 and we've even brought a few of them with us to tournaments in the fall. Point is I talked to them before and after the games and the fact is they all played all their starts except for NLR and that's only because the ones missing were performing a play. I don't know where you are hearing that from but that's a load of bull.
