Vaughn is a good guy, shame he didn't get rewarded for his many years helping revitalize Eldo.

Boogercat fails to realize too that Jones was OC at Searcy.

Last time I checked Searcy was a 6A school.

Remember the QB that lit our butts up in the quarterfinals in 2017?

Yeah he coached that kid for 2 years.

WOW, He was an OC at Searcy. Lets jump on that bandwagon. Searcy isn't a decent program to go be an OC at to be honest. They normally have their program where its good every 5 years or so. They haven't done anything. He got the job at JC because he was a former player there and was a coach. JC saw that Jones was too good to pass up and knew he was a hometown kid. That's why he got the job at Junction City. If Dave never retired, Jones would not be in the picture as being the head coach for at El Dorado. Right or wrong? Don't sit here and say he would have because that would be a lie.

I'm not going to buy into this hire, it's a bad hire and you all will see that eventually.

Searcy's record over the last four seasons: 33-14; El Dorado's record over the last four seasons: 25-20. One head-to-head matchup and it didn't go well for the Cats. Searcy will probably be down in 2019 but it's a stretch right now to totally dismiss Searcy as a "good once every five years" program.

We can go and look at the overall picture as well if you like. Yeah, El Dorado was 25-20 last 4 years. El Dorado has also won 4 titles during the last 12 years. No conference championships for searcy and no state championships for them as well the last 12 years. Yeah, I will stand by what I said, good once every five years.

Not really a comparison with the overall program at Eldorado and Searcy.  Eldo much better over time.

I'm not trying to compare the two programs. (First, I think I misspoke, it seems like El Dorado beat Searcy at Searcy in the playoffs one year during this time). All I was saying is that to say Searcy has been good "once every five years" isn't just someone's opinion, it's actually wrong.

Now, to be fair, Searcy has historically - and during those four years - played a much easier nonconference schedule than El Dorado, which obviously affects those records.

But again, to say they've been good once every five years is ridiculous. And, wrong.

Every 5 years is right. When Searcy is 3-7 this year or at 5-5 you will understand, maybe? Play a tougher non-conference that will allow you to get better for conference and  in the playoffs. Play some 7A teams, go play LR Central, or couple South teams in 6A. Playing an easy con-conference doesn't get you ready at all. I'm sure if El Dorado had the non-conference games as Searcy they would have extra wins to their program.

Go win a conference championship for once. Make that program relevant at least.

Come back here and post after the 2019 season is over. I will show you how wrong yall all are.

Let's give Jones a chance to prove himself with his future body of work rather pthan judging him before he has even coached a game like at least one poster is doing.

I see a lot of positives in this hire. Jones followed a true legend in Carpenter and where many would have folded under the pressure of a situation like that and lead the. Dragon program backwards, the program did not seem to skip a beat. Yes, Rivercrest humbled them in the 2017 title game after running through all their previous opponents that season, but they bounced back this past season and won another title for the program after a 1-2 start.

Yes, the expectations at Eldo will be very high with little or no grace period afforded many new coaches at other programs, but the expectations at JC were huge and so he is familiar with huge expectations. With a senior class of over 40 players and arguably the best 9th grade team in the state moving up to varsity this coming season, talent and depth will not be a problem, and seldom is anyway
 at Eldo.

Eldo has arguably the best facilities in the state, tremendous fan support, deeep booster pockets, etc, basically everything a coach could want in a job. And while there is a difference in 2a/3a and 6a, hopefully he should make the transition smoothly. I wish him the best.

Eldo stadium is not even in the top five in 6A!! Have you been under the stadium where teams dress it is awful and the visiting press box has the opposing team sitting outside. You need to get out and see some other stadiums

What is the state of the Eldo program in terms of current athletes.  Anybody coaching realizes you have to have talent to win a significant number of games.  Is the talent at Eldo?

Technically the stadium is a city park that is leased to the school district for a nominal amount.

There have been projects approved to upgrade the pressbox and build a pavilion for tailgating.

True!! Stadium needs some major updates

The stadium has been around for a long time, it got a new score board, new track, went from grass to turf. The stadium itself is old and could use a upgrade in the locker rooms.

Jones will be gone in 2 years at El Dorado. He only got the JC job because Dave was leaving and Jones grew up there. I asked gate the same question, that I will ask you that he has yet to answer. Do you really believe that Jones would had got the head coaching job at El Dorado if Dave was still coaching at JC? I highly doubt it. The only way he got the job at El Dorado was because of Matthew Shepard.

I asked you a question and you give that answer to make it look like I'm the dumb one.

I asked do you think Jones would had got the El Dorado job, if Dave never retired from JC? This would mean that Jones would had still been at Searcy as an OC. Now, do you understand. Do I need to use a color chart?

The El Dorado coaching job has been filled.  There is no longer any need for comments on this subject particularly because it has no longer become about the "search" for a coach. If you wish to continue another type of conversation then so be it but it will no longer be on this thread.
