Average job. Should one more year even be an option since he is going to be here another year barring a motorcycle accident

Well considering 8 wins is the absolute top out for next year don't expect a whole lot next year.... 7-5 is likely again and maybe even 6-6. That is with 3 gimme games against Florida A&M, Coastal Carolina, and New Mexico State.

It is puzzling. The inconsistency is what leaves you scratching your head. I do believe Bert to be a good football coach. Starting slow then finishing very strong for two seasons and then the yo-yo that was this season makes you wonder where the disconnect is. Arkansas has never and will never be a recruiting powerhouse. Yet, there have been coaches that have managed to put the Hogs in the national conversation. I'm not saying he is incapable of doing it but there seems to be an issue with putting all the pieces together for a whole season. Quite the conundrum.

Bring in Chip Kelly... He stinks in the NFL because his scheme is not meant for the pro game but he is perfect at the college level.

Dude I am loving this....I can actually watch Pig games with him at the helm :) Just don't bring back Petrino I hated myself every time I had to stomach through a game.

Bring back John L. Smith please Loved watching games then :)

If the pigs are going to play at this level, then yes they should play
ASU every year.  At least the two of them will have a legitimate sell out!

It is spot on...we are mediocre at best. If everyone is okay with being that way then fine. I don't know why anyone would want to be average though...

This.... Same goes for basketball too this year. I have never really cared for BB with his mouth. I have always thought of Mike Anderson as a great person and I want to see him succeed more than anyone. If we don't get in the NCAA tourney this year I hate to say it but its time to move on from MA too. I really hate to say that about him.

Then don't say it.....

I'm dumbfounded by any of you guys that seem to think we should be competing for a championship every other year.  That's basically how you act.  We're not Alabama, Auburn, Florida or LSU. Let's not mention OM and TN who have better recruiting bases.   Their recruiting allows them to think like that.  Ours doesn't.  When has any UA coach recruited the number of 4/5s that those programs have?  We should probably compete for an SEC championship every six years or so.  If he doesn't by then, it'll take care of itself.

I'm dumbfounded that you think we can't be good. Not Alabama good, but good. We should compete. CBP proved that. I guess after this game tonight Mack you think we should give CBB another extension? This kind of "Average" attitude is confusing to me. I never want to be average...sheeeeeezzzzz...

I'll always be a Hog fan. But at points this season this has been tough to watch. Especially these last two games, both losses that should not have happened. Unacceptable.

I don't know what's going on at halftime but whatever it is needs fixed. They have an entire off season to do it. Consistently, inconsistent all year.

AA is tough as nails but I question his leadership. Yeah you just got sacked. Don't put your stinking head down and walk off the field. Get in the lines A and then in BB's. Once he got his head down that game was over.

Like I said before record wise we finished about how I thought we would. But disappointed in how we looked doing it. Except for a few quarters this team really never showed strides of improvement all year. Basically stayed flat all year.

I mean CBB walking in at half says, we are gonna finish this thing. VT comes out fired up and we come out looking like we need a stinking safe space or something and get just straight blown out and quit. That is very disappointing and it happened several times this year

But apathy has finally set in for me. It's taken 31 years. Nothing has changed in 31 years. We are what we are. And it will never be greatness.

yeah, you're right. I've had a hard time putting my finger on it. From the shoplifting to the spitting to the quitting it is a team wide character issue. Being Bret Bielema is all encompassing. The program takes on the character a head coach demands. Sulking off to the side line while the ship is sinking may tell you all that you need to know about Berts management style. He struggles with adversity. So does his team. I still believe that he is a good football coach. His team was prepared for the start of the game. There are flaws in how he handles or lacks to react to another teams actions. This has happened over and over. It's who he is. It's who he will always be.

If you were at the game, and I know you weren't, he was on the players, had them gathered up a couple of times in the second half giving a stern talking, and taking with his coaches. I think he lets his co-coordinators coach their side with minimal input, but that's been his style from the beginning.

Lots of coaches don't. The coach at Virginia this year was paid $1.2M/win. Brother Hugh was worse than Bret this year, I can post the link with $/wins if you'd like.

No need for posting the link, I'm aware there are other programs struggling. If you want to post a link, find one comparing us to winning programs. After all, we want to win not lose, right? It seems it's OK to compare us to losing teams but when we compare us to winning teams, the excuse he is well we aren't so and so

Correct, but history isn't on our side since 1992. Firing a coach every five years doesn't build a program either. The team that beat us last night had the same coach for 30 years, many of them at the beginning weren't very good. Bret will get two more years to prove he can do it, or we'll be in the search mode again.

i was referring to him standing off by himself when the implosion was happening. You're right, you can't see everything going on from the barca lounger. What I have seen is a team that has a losing record over the last 50 games.  A team that gets outplayed and out coached. He is paid big money for little results and is regressing instead of progressing. Enjoy the next two years of mediocrity. What was it be said. Sit back and watch? Still watching.

I wouldn't have any idea on what discussions have been made by the administration's. Back to my point of talent level at ASU, they win their conference in the past few years because they have better talent on average than their conference foes. Why you wish to strawman the point, just proves you know when you're whupped, lol.

Mack, I have always been a fan, and a season ticket holder. Are you? Have you ever been. 1981 here bubba...and when I got sick of the U of A keeping a loser like HDN I said enough is enough and I let them go. When CBP came in and started winning I got back on board with my season tickets and PP. Now, it is time for enough. I can be a fan anyway I choose. I don't need you or Rice to tell me how I should support my team. Facts are facts...CBB has done NOTHING, ZERO, NADDA...and you can't prove or say otherwise. If you want to support CBB and the hogs regardless of the outcome of games, regardless of mediocrity that is your choice. More power to you...but that doesn't mean everyone else has to do it the way you do. I was for CBB when he came here. Skeptical yes but supportive. He hasn't produced so I will not keep on supporting a dead horse. Look at it like this Mack...if you own a race horse and he doesn't produce do you just keep running him and losing races and money, or do you sell him off and get a new horse that gives you a chance?

Miami is in a recruiting hot bed. And it's won national titles not in the time when dinosaurs roamed. I don't even claim that thing from 64. Fayetteville is near the recruiting hot bed of Harrison and Branson.

They could change coaches every other year and still win.

Gotta start somewhere. I would take 5 national titles, 9 conference championships, and 2 heisman trophies any day of the week.

Arkansas hasn't won anything since 1964 and it's biggest claim to fame is the big shootout. Which was a dang loss.

He finds players that can play football and that have speed. Look at Washington. They are disciplined on defense and have speed on offense. He did the same at BSU. Now, they have a slim to none chance at beating bama but join the crowd huskies! But they are in the final four.

I told, there's a difference in firing coaches, and coaches leaving to go to the NFL. My goodness, if you can't see the difference, than I can't help you. If you never have to get out of two counties to recruit your roster, then even you could win a few games.

I love the pigs favorite excuse, as was said on the news again last night - "we have to get better players"  How many years and different coaches do we have to hear say the same thing?  Perhaps we need a coach that can COACH and MOTIVATE the players that we do recruit!  $4 million to once again be near the bottom.  Maybe it is time to drain the stinking pig pen/hog trough!

Well, the only yes you'll get is on the season ticket thing.  Well,  that and paying for five years of schooling for my kid.  Well, and the racehorse thing.....  Still, if I get rid of the horse, I don't have to pay the horse several million dollars now do I?

You " fire them every five years " guys will never allow a program to be built.  You can't  recruit here like the bigs.  Lots of parallels to Nebraska.

Where we do agree is that your opinions, like Cuckoo and Warren, are every bit as valid as mine.

Ok there you go making comparisons again so I'll give you one of a winner. The university of miami had 4 coaches in 20 years and 4 national titles. That makes sense too mack. Btw, you you smart guys that's a coach every 5 years

LOL.... "you you smart guys"...  are you mad enough to stutter?

Look at the recruiting area Miami has.  Well, I guess it's probably the same recruiting level as Harrison or Caddo Gap or Possum Grape.

You know he isn't going to fired, and about a 90-95% chance he's here for year 6. I guess you just like to argue about it. We aren't losing money, so we'll saddle up again and see what happens. You can't have 6 coaches in 8 years, or whatever it was, before the found Schnellenberger. Times aren't the same as 1979, in case you haven't noticed. They were also on probation 3 times during that run, and since have had a new coach every 4 or 5 years. Now, will Richt do better, probably.

Toledo, UL Monroe, Texas Tech, Missouri(twice) and Rutgers(twice) have taken the Hogs to the wood shed sadly in the last half decade. BB said Texas Tech played soft football before we played them and they never punted against us. He criticized the Big Ten and their "soft" schedules before the Toledo game and we lose to them. He has blabber mouth syndrome. Had the guy not ran his mouth to 20% of the NCAA programs I might actually support him still.

Since I know the answer I'll go ahead and give you my next comment.

All I ever hear is that it's all about the benjamines for the piggies concerning several matters discussed on here. I think we could all agree that a game between ASU and the hogs would be a sellout, yet, the powers that be would rather pay someone like troy university for the disabled and have 50000 in attendance rather than an in state school and have a sellout. I guess fear of losing overrides actual financial gain in that aspect

If Arkansas decides to replace BB, how much will it cost in $$$$?  He is paid a very high salary and didn't he just get a raise and an extension.  I'm thinking that was a for sure mistake, thought so when they did it.  Colleges in too big a hurry to reward mediocre results.  If they replace him who do we go after?  I think you spend to get a truly top 10 guy if you are serious about an opportunity to win the SEC and a shot at the National Title. I was supportive of him at first, cuz that's what you should do, but I haven't seen the kind of results that the paycheck warrants.

So after speaking specifically you're going with broad definitions? I'll keep that in mind.  You did use the capital "c".

The Coke change to Pepsi on the UA Campus was a huge deal. Jokes are still ongoing.

But I'll note your loose vernacular for future conversations on this matter.

It would seem in your way of thinking, you would never respond to my posts, you know everyone says their bit? Only you try to insult with some little ditty you think is funny. I've got thick skin, you can't offend me no matter how many times you try.

UA needs to have a plan before they fire one of the average coaches if they hope to get a better one.

Dear lord you are dense...yes we all know what a maiden race is...what would that have to do with a horse that hasn't won in four years and is getting worse? And yes, it isn't just me...you think that you are right, your opinions are all that counts over everyone on here. You argue everyone's point. It's like you and CBB are brothers or something. If he makes a sharp left turn you will lose your nose...lol...and yes he is here for at least another year...that's not knowledge that only the great Rice knows. It's because of his buyout. Jeff Long your other brother screwed that one up. He as well needs to go...Keep enjoying mediocrity and your frat brothers grilling out, it seems to fit you well...same goes for me, if you don't like what I post then hit the ignore button... ;) ;)
I would bet that Rice believes in moral victories and participation trophies!

You are too arrogant to know when you are being insulted...and yes, everyone should have an opinion. You though try and convince everyone that they are wrong with their thoughts...

Well, yeah, you don't try to convince people with your posts where they are wrong, in your opinion? And I know when you try to insult me, I just ignore it, seems childish and takes away from the debate.

He has also tried to convince us a .500 coach playing in the SEC West with a 10-22 conference record who couldn't stop running his mouth for 2.5 years is good for the program moving forward....

Well, you aren't going to fire him for two years, so you better hope he moves it forward.

There is a difference in offering your opinion and telling people they are morons for offering their opinion...you should try some tact...as for the insults...you sure don't seem to be ignoring them, you keep replying...
