Thats probably a jab at me Big Ben.If the The Beatles are overated then Led Zep and Pink Floyd are overated, because The Beatles paved the way for both of them bands.

MHSGrad

I looooove Axel Rose.. and Sweet Child O'Mine is a great song.. but I would have to consider Guns and Roses one of the top most overrated.. just personal opinion..

The Beatles are the biggest selling act ever and they only wrote and produced there music for 6yrs,that is truely amazing.Pink Floyd is my favorite band and there still producing music and they still can't come close to the Beatles.Led Zeppelin produced and wrote music for 11yrs and released several unheard songs after there Break-up and they still can't out sell the The Beatles. So now you tell me who is overated.I don't think any of the bands I have mentioned are overated, but to say the Beatles are overated is a vey stupid musical statement and thats whether you love them or hate them.

any "boy band" from the 90's and the 00's or any of their solo spin off.

Obviously, they're not overrated, because of the overwhelming success they had.

However, bands that I never got:
The Beattles
The Who
The Doors

Metallica: Influenced by the Beatles in the sense of Their post pop rock songs, such as "Octopusses Garden" and "Get Back" revolutionized the way Harrison played guitar, ergo revolutionizing guitar playing in general.

Yeah, Mettalica is pretty bad. They suck alright. But you know, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, just like I have mine about the Beatles.

The Reality is back...

Perhaps, but I feel that your opinion on the beatles is based of a limited amount of knowledge of the band.

Whereas I do actually own a Metallica CD(Master of Puppets). And have been forced to listen to them for years, since my good friend is an avid fan.

Oh, btw: most overrated = Nirvana.

I'm gonna have to agree with Venny in that I am not a big Beatles fan.  Of all the gazillions of song they have out there, there are only a few that I really like.

However, I will give them credit for being innovators and creative.  They did stuff that no one else had tried before, (mushrooms, acid, dope...).  A lot of the guitar stuff that Harrison did, the Eastern Indian inflence, the psychadelic stuff had never been allowed in mainstream music.  The most defininately opened many door, and influenced a great many musicians and bands, and continue to do so.

This conversation begins and ends with the Doors in my opinion followed my Nirvana.  Both live on as "great" because someone died when they were both very mediocre.

As far as the Beatles maybe their greatest influence was creating music under the influence of mind altering chemicals.  Therefore inspiring all drug using bands after them.  (I like the Beatles by the way).

I'm willing to bet if you think that, then you know nothing of the beatles...and if you have, then you're a fool. Honestly, name any band....any band.....and they've been influenced by the beatles.
Mettalica, I highly doubt they were influenced by the Beatles. Any metal band I highly doubt. In my opinion, The Rolling Stones shaped pure Rock and Rock more than the Beatles. And yes, I would say that I know as much about the Beatles as you....................
Your wrong Metallica was very much influenced by the Beatles as was Led Zeppelin,Pink Floyd, and Jimi Hendrix.Ozzy Osbourne's favorite band was the Beatles! If you would actually look outside of the Beatles early recordings you would understand that.

wrong...as the official Metallica fanboy of this board I will state that Metallica was influenced by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, and Motorhead
Oh come on Coach P, can't you just hear "The Beatles" ringing out in every Mettalica song? lol......................................
Thats a very ignorant statement!Just because you don't or don't want to sound like them doesn't mean you can't like them.I mean don't you think that if everybody tried sounding like evrybody else that the music would be pretty bland GEEZS!
And to prove my point and like I said earlier Ozzy Osbourne's favorite band was the Beatles, and boy he really does a great Beatles impersonation doesn't he.I mean come on man try to keep up!

Even though I don't care much for the song it was a number 1# song and thats one more then Led Zeppelin.

I have a vast amount of knowledge of the Beatles. The only album that I can even began to like is the White album, and only a few songs on that. I will admit that they had major influence in rock and roll. I really like McCartney and the stuff he done post Beatles. Just think the Beatles were not that good.
Vast knowledge of the Beatles give me a break.I could ask you several questions face to face that I know you couldn't answer.
Ask away junior.....................

"Come together" was one of The Beatles better songs and Aerosmith done it better.

I would have to disagree with this post in regards to both subject/verb agreement and its content.

Dude, he's not going to acknowldge it. For every "yellow submarine" there's three other songs the beatles have that are epic achievements. Rick Rubin, perhaps the most knowledgable person in music in the world, says the beatles made music, period. And I trust him over about anyone.

EddiesMustache

This always seems to upset people, but I always felt that The Grateful Dea is way overrated.

I also agree with The Doors & Metallica.

I can actually agree with the grateful dead being way overliked by some people....BUT I'm always going to enjoy them.
