lol that's not my opinion at all. if that was yours then all I have to say is...we will see.

You will see,

1. The best coach in 2A
2. The most physical team you've played this season
3. The best offensive line in class 2A

I can call which play and which hole and tell the defense and they can't stop it. No secrets, just smash mouth with very quick very large very strong lineman. That sum it up Pick???

Pretty much. Thats what I was saying. Lol

If it was not my opinion why would I post it? It was not meant to cause any hostility but just as an observation of watching both teams play and the belief that MI will overcome the strengths of MT. #6 from MT is the real deal but MI's defense is the real deal as well. And everyone knows that their offense is a machine that will not be stopped this Friday night.

And let's not forget big, powerful, determined running backs that run really tough.  And if he's healthy, a scatback who can really go and is the state weightlifting champion in his weight class. And a qb who is really slick, a potent 2 minute offence they've showcased a few times but haven't really needed, some really gamer defensive specialists......well..... Pretty much with only rare exception, only team that will beat the lions are the lions themselves.  But I agree, that is why we play the game. I have every confidence the Lions will stay focused and not get the big-head.  With all due respect to DA, last weeks game was nowhere close to how well this team can  get after you when they are at top form. Which is most of the time.   Don't get me wrong, it was a good effort.  Those of us who love old-school and smash mouth football love to watch this team play! Can't wait for Friday.

no doubt about mount ida being the real deal...MT is well aware of the challenge ahead...as we speak they are all looking at game film and trying to find something that could work against this machine called mount ida.all we can do is come with a game plan...and hope it holds up...and kick it off and throw down...

After watching Channel 7 News last night, it is obvious that playing Marked Tree is not on their radar.  Since a student had a schedule conflict with the senior portrait date (had to be at state fair showing his champion livestock), the superintendent is having the kid's face photoshopped on another kid's body.

Ah, the angst of teenage existence 😕

Now, lets not get confused as to the order of importance in Mount Ida Ar. First comes Football...then who cares...

Eaglefan70

It is fun and all fighting for your team.  A real die hard fan but realistically Ida is just too disciplined and too big.  Marked Tree has a great offense but Ida will slowly wear you down and have you tired.  Conway Christian played them last year and they ran it all over us.  Their D line is very good and linebackers fill holes quickly.  The prized passing game of Conway Christian was also no match to this Mt Ida defense.  Coaches have done a great job with Mt. Ida and they take this one by 21.

Without going into alot of detail at this point.......You have to consider the source of the report. Every town has them, only thing is the whole State got to see Mt. Ida's last night. Kind of disappointed in channel 7 for even making it a story. There's more important stuff to report on than a young man who missed portrait day cuz of showing World Champion livestock.

Jerry Springer Mount Ida version.

The fair conflicted with class pics day.

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of the young man and his showing livestock ability. I just feel, as a parent, that there were better/easier solutions to this conflict. But.....If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! Yea, I said ain't, twiced!

Definitely not surprising with the source who chose to make this a story. But hey its amusing and a nice change of pace!!😂

I haven't seen much discussion about MT's OL/DL. Size? Agility?  Any comments?

Shah_guido,Their not the biggest,Although they have some size. All very athletic and the bigger the game the better they seem to play. They give Jonesboro Westside who is bigger and more athletic then mount Ida on the offensive line fits all night,Defensive line causes havoc in the oppositions backfield.DEs are lighting quick and DTs are very solid as well.MT tends to beat MT at times tho. If their focused they can play with anyone in 2A.

JC westside Oline  bigger and more athletic than mount Ida? Ha ha Ha! I hope the lion players see  that although I doubt they need any more extra motivation.  I highly doubt that is the case  that the MI Oline is inferior to that JC line that you just blew through. But if your team really is all that and is capable of  competing with any 2A team on a good night then we will have a whale of a game.  But you are coming to the Champs house. Bring a lunch.

BlueNGold52

I feel pretty confident that Marked Tree can compete if they are focused. Their line isn't huge but if they are ready to play and Mount Ida starts slow it could be a ballgame! Any 8-2 record team obviously has some talent. I just hope Mount Ida's boys aren't buying into the junk from some fans saying how great they are!! Humble and focused will get them further than boastful. So far from what I've seen the boys are focused and ready. An athletic spread team thats focused could challenge the Lions. I would prefer not however! ;D

panther07

I've really never understood the whole "Who wants it more" comments regarding a playoff game.  If the worst team in 2a wants it twice as bad as PA, they aren't going to win.  Also, how does one know exactly which team wants it more? Such a bs way to explain the happenings on a football field.

All that to say this, it doesn't matter how much MT wants to beat Mt. Ida, I don't think it's going to happen. If it does, it won't be because Mt. Ida didn't want to win the game. All that pre-game hype and build up is over within about the first 3 or 4 plays, and then you proceed to doing what you always do.  You either execute or you don't.  You're either good or you aren't.

BlueNGold52

There's a big difference between focus and wanting to win. Everybody wants to win!! Why play if you didnt want to win. Focus is based on what went on during your week of preparation for your game. Lots of things can affect "focus" like, girlfriends, grades, social media garbage, after school employment and many other things can affect a teams preparation and those things are out of a coaches hands. They rely on the commitment of the young men and women involved and the support group around those young men and women. Nobody ever mentioned "wanting to win".

Lets not forget that Hooties put 3 of Ida's defense guys on their State Farm Best Player list when all other teams have 1. There should be 4 but they put on the Offensive finals list as a center. I am at the most a Hooties supporter but even a blind hog can find a acorn sometimes if they pick that many off of one team from defense. The rest of them are just as good week in and week out. It will not be easy Friday night.

JC Westside is another small 2A school. Forget what region the are in. But you would figure the Jonesboro part would have tipped them off. Much different than Johnson County. Which I guess they could be thinking you misspelled.

I get a little caught up in it myself. Nothing wrong with a little trash talk.

But Mt. Ida is a very good football team, it's at Ida so MT will have to play darn good to win.

Yikes! Whoa! JONESBORO Westside! My bad! Tar & feathers!  Did that post when I really didn't have time to be messing with such stuff and got in a hurry! Sorry about that! Got a little more time at the moment, so let me clarify. I do indeed realize that you were talking about a 4A school that your dline brutalized.  My response was to the statement that 4A line  was much bigger and more athletic than MI. Really?  If you guys whipped the dog snot out of an Oline that is so much better than the Lions, then poor lil ole MI might as well not even show up, huh? You guys are what, 8-2? Not too shabby. After all, we are only......uhhh....wait....I forget....you can look it up.....but I think it's pretty good, isn't it? Will be curious what you think about this Oline that you say is so inferior to one you guys blew up, after the game. If MT can do that, it will be the first time since....well....the current winning streak began. So see, I'm a little skeptical.  If it were to happen, I will be the first to say 'by dang, ya did it'. You're right.  I hope I don't brag too much. Just proud of them boys! If I thought this loose talk  would give them the fat head, I would not do it. But they have shown themselves to be exceptionally able to focus on the task at hand, credit goes to them and their coach(es).  This is a special team and a special time. If they stay humble.  And I think they will.

whoknows

Mt. Ida is to Marked Tree as Harvey Updyke is to Auburn..

I think that if Mt. Ida holds on to the ball they will score 30+ so the big question to me is- Can Marked Tree do the same vs a very good  MI defense?

So Buster doublas won the fight because he wanted to more than mike Tyson? That is an explanation for when things happen that you can't really explain.  To say that a team didn't want to win a state title is absolute garbage.  Wanting to win doesn't lead to wins.  Everybody wants to win.    If that's what you really think, then this conversation with me will end here.  That's not a real explanation.  If MT loses, we will for sure say that they didn't want to win, right? you need to refresh.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2015/feb/11/mike-tyson-underdog-buster-douglas-boxing-from-the-vault

Mike lost because he didn't prepare, and didn't care about fighting at that point.  He lost because he didn't prepare. That's the explanation.  Promise Mt. Ida is preparing for the football game.

Mike never said "he wanted it more than me."  Mike said "I didn't want to fight. All I cared about was partying and F******* women."

" Robin [his wife] would go out shopping and I would go downstairs to the back of the hotel where this young girl had a room... So that was my training for Douglas."

I guess one could say that Mike not training was him not wanting it, and that would make sense.  But if MT loses Friday, you would have to say that Mt. Ida wanted more if you'd say MT wanted it more had they won.
