Why would a rock n roll venue include rappers?
Wooo Deep Purple! Ritchie Blackmore has influenced rock like no other!
It is about time Deep Purple got in! The people who decide this are idiots. Why did Madonna go in before Metallica, Kiss, Rush, Red Hot Chili Peppers? It makes no sense. All of those bands are way more influential than her
We have to face it Longfellow, Rock and Metal seem to be fading away 😔. Seems like there are so few fans nowadays
Chicago just now getting in is a travesty.
I'm not that much of a fan of their Peter Cetera power ballad phase, but Terry Kath was one of the best guitarist to take a stage. Chicago helped define the category of horn based rock bands.
Only in this America can someone be inducted into a hall of fame of musicians and singers that DOESN'T sing or play an instrument.
That's like being inducted into the LifeGuard HOF.......but can't swim or fit into a swimsuit.

Hey, hey...

I'm not a big Neil Young fan, but I love that lyric

Why would a rock n roll venue include rappers?
Political Correctness run amok.
Donna Summer, Madonna, Public Enemy, and Run DMC shouldn't be in the rock and roll hall of fame. I'm actually ok with the Beastie Boys being in their. They were a hip hop group, but had a lot of rock and roll influences and were influential for a lot of later rock artists
I second that
After looking at the list of members (Click here (http://www.futurerocklegends.com/past.php)), well over half of the current members have no business at all being in this hall.
A list of everyone I don't think deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
Aretha Franklin
Clyde McPhatter
The Drifters
Dion
Charlie Christian
LaVern Baker
Wilson Pickett
Jimmy Reed
Ike & Tina Turner
Bobby Bland
Sam & Dave
The Teenagers
Etta James
Al Green
Otis Redding
The Coasters
Marvin Gaye
Martha and the Vandellas
Gladys Knight and the Pips
Little Willie John
The Shirelles
Joni Mitchell
The Mamas and the Papas
Lloyd Price
Del Shannon
Curtis Mayfield
Dusty Springfield
The Staple Singers
Lovin Spoonful
The Moonglows
Bonnie Raitt
Solomon Burke
The Flamingos
Isaac Hayes
Brenda Lee
The Dells
The Righteous Brothers
The OJ's

Patti Smith
Madonna
The Ventures
Little Anthony and the Imperials
Run DMC
Bobby Womack
Jimmy Cliff
Darlene Love
The Blue Caps
Donovan
The Midnighters
Laura Nyro
Donna Summer
Linda Rondstadt
And on the other side of that coin......here are some that have yet to be inducted, and the # of times nominated is completely ridiculous....(sorry for the formatting.....cut/paste was not kind here)
Artist Years Snubbed # of Years Nominated

Really makes me wonder what the criteria is for nomination/induction.
God help us all if/when Kanye West gets inducted.....the planet won't be able to hold him. And heaven forbid he get nominated and NOT be inducted.......oh the humanity $%#@$%$#
It makes me wonder about the sanity of the world when Iron Maiden and Judas Priest aren't in the rock and roll hall of fame. Two of the bands who set the blueprint for heavy metal
Ozzy and Megadeth should be in there no doubt. Really any of those listed could make it.

Go ahead and take it one step further......neither have even been nominated yet!!!!
Think about it:
'From the coast of gold, across the seven seas
I'm travellin' on, far and wide
But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself
And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but
someone else" Wasted Years - Iron Maiden
"So much for the golden future, I can't even start
I've had every promise broken, there's anger in my heart
you don't know what it's like, you don't have a clue
if you did you'd find yourselves doing the same thing too"
Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
OR
"%%#^*$ the Police!" - NWA
Yep, they just don't write 'em like that anymore Beavis............
Longfellow's previous post is exhibit A in why there should be separate HOF's for R&B, and Pop.

Exactly. Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, and a lot of those others are great musicians, and I really like a lot of their music, but they need to have a different hall of fame for them
Great Class.

A lot of those older artists absolutely deserve to be there. Dion is a great example - his music was considered rock & roll back in his day. The same is true for a lot of the older artists on your list. Many, if not all of those artists were heavy influences on later, more (what we'd consider) 'traditional' rock & roll bands.
