Crossett will do fine in this scimmage, as for speed don't worry, Smackover does not have the speed of dollarway nor the safety.... Please remember that this is a scimmages and uf does matter, except for linemans....
a scrimmage is just that. some teams keep their offense very basic and some try to win the scrimmage. it is what it is.

Stuttgart
And sometimes a scrimmage and an actual game are exactly the same. :)

cuckoobird

Well they did have an offensive td in the scrimmage. Real game.......uh no

True. That's the only thing their cheerleaders had to cheer about at the scrimmage.

Jimbo Morphis

my point was most coaches run about 4 plays in a scrimmage as to not show anything to future opponents. then you have a 2a team play a 5a team close and claim they are just as good.

cuckoobird

I think we run 2 plays against wareen. Qb run left and right and that darn tricky draw play that gouged them for several scores

You think the scrimmage and playoff whippings were bad just wait till week 3. You aint seen bad..... But its coming

Regarding the questions about Smackover's depth, Smackover now has a student count (for football) to be the largest 3A school for the '14-'16 cycle:

Smackover - 199.00
Norphlet -     100.33
Leoparoos -   299.33

Smallest 4A public school:  Gentry -     303.66
Largest 3A public school:  Booneville – 298.66

http://eliteedgeas.com/files/ArkansasReclass14-16.pdf

Now whether in the '16-'18 cycle Smackover maintains its student count and some small 4A schools loses enough students to be smaller than Smackover or Smackover grows its student count to bump a small 4A school down is anybody's guess.  Either way, with the Norphlet deal, Smackover could find itself on the 3A/4A bubble going forward.

And I wrote "for football" above because the Smackover/Norphlet campus mergers won't take place unitl the '15-'16 school year.  Norphlet will still offer some sports (in 2A) for '14-'15.  But Leopards can be Buckaroos if Norphlet doesn't offer the sport for '14-'15.  The merger/consolidation would be complete in '15-'16.

Hootie

I can't wait for Suck Fever to boast about beating Crossett in a scrimmage.

Regarding the questions about Smackover's depth, Smackover will now have a student count (for football) to be one of the two or three largest 3A schools:

Smackover - 199
Norphlet -    100.33

Smallest 4A public school:  Gentry - 303.66

http://eliteedgeas.com/files/ArkansasReclass14-16.pdf

Now whether the cutoff will change for 16-18 or Smackover will maintain or grow its student count to bump to 4A is anybody's guess.

IF we got anymore students before 2016. We will have no choice to go to 4A.

No multipliers any more. They just have to play up one class.

This is the only warning I am going to give to the same couple people trying to make every stinking thread on this board about Stuttgart and Warren. Stop it or I will stop it for you.

So they take where they fall with their enrollment and then move them up one classification.  Did not know that.

On the topic if increasing school numbers... The 2016 rotation will involved the Strong schhol district... Strong's number has dropped below the state requirement of 350... I do not see them picking up approx. 30 kids over the next two years. So PC, El dorado and Crossett may see an increase in student enrollment in the next few years.

Proud Buckaroo

Not sure if you saw the article or not, but strong is already under academic stress right now. They have a year to pull their scores up. If not improved by the year 2015 school year. The state will put a state employed worker to help them. If still not improved by 2-5 years. The school will be forced to close by the state. Regardless of numbers.

The schools that are now classified as academically distressed include Augusta High, Blytheville High New Tech, Covenant Keepers Charter School in Little Rock, Dollarway High and Fordyce High. Stephens High in the Stephens School District is classified as academically distressed but the school has been closed and the district has been divided among three other school districts for the coming year.
