Not me. They will be very tough this year. Returning QB Bullard, RB Turner, LT/DT Simmons, LB Stafford, LB Wilis. 3 of which are def all state caliber. Talented team.

True, but I think you can make a case for anybody 1-6.

Romeo

I'm not surprised only one Warren poster voted the Jacks number one. The rest of the state knows the talent we have on paper, but Warren fans know the question marks we have at quarterback. Quarterback is the most important position on the field. If you don't have a solid player at that position, even with the talent we have, the offense will not be as effective. I've heard some good reviews this Spring but I have to see it on the field before I can believe it.

Agree.  If Warren had a proven QB I would have voted them #1.  If they have good QB play in the first 3 weeks they will be my #1.

Also their D must prove they are going to be better than average.  They lost a lot off the best Jack D in quite a while.

I still believe Newport and Malvern are two to keep a close eye on.

Noticing a trend in this year's Pre-Season poll--it's an Orange and Black attack.  Four of the Top 5 teams all share the same colors--could get interesting if this things holds true into the play-offs.  I'd like to see a Semi-finals comprised of all Orange and Black, that would be pretty awesome.

On another note, mercy, the 8-4A is back--at least on paper.  For years back in the late 90s, early 00s, the 8AAA/8-4A was one of the toughest conferences in the state.  It's good to see us getting back to that level now.

Looking forward to a great football season!  Go Jacks!

The QB situation will work out just fine. Especially behind a very solid, big, veteren oline.

Superjack45

I voted Star City #1 and Newport #2 and then Warren #3 only because of the defensive situation. Other than that we will be fine, I really saw a young SC team grow up pretty quick and they have a lot of key players coming back and most of the starters will be just Jr. Newport got a pretty good backfield returning and Warren will be Sr. Heavy this year with some players having 3+ years in experience.

I will give my reasoning for voting Warren number one.  First of all, I'm from Warren, but I actually tried my best not to vote for them number one.  I went back and forth between Warren, Dollarway, Newport, and Malvern.  Malvern was based alot from what I had seen on here so I decided to knock them down.  Newport is good, but I just couldn't make them number one.

Alot of preseason polls are based on what happened last year too, whether that is fair or unfair in your mind.  I didn't vote for Dollarway because of their blowout in the semi's to Booneville and because I know they lost a stud player.  Warren played that same Booneville team to a two-point loss on a neutral site and although Warren lost some key players, they return so much as well.  Honestly, I don't think there's a clear-cut number one, but Warren had the most success of any of these programs last year by virtue of Booneville dropping down.

Honestly, I'm skeptical as well because of the QB situation and how our defense will replace the seniors from last season, but I couldn't really vote for someone else number one.  This might be as wide open as this classification has been in a while.

Depth- last year we had a substantial advantage with no two way starters. Darveon, jaylon and Hampton will probably be in the secondary along with Gilmore, the Mississippi kid, and maybe broughton. Linebacker will be led by Deangelo but Newton will be greatly missed. Church, hargis, and Smith will anchor the d line. Gonna miss kaleel and Otis too. Gilmore Imo will be the newcoming standout.

Quarterback- Drake Jones graduates.  Enough said. The MS transfer,Darveon and Gorman are solid options.  Gorman went 6-0 as a starter before Drake went beast mode in 2012.

Offensive line - huge strength.  Size, veterens, and lose one from last year.

WR/RB- huge strength.  Cox, broughton at RB. Darveon, Marshall, Hampton, Gilmore at WR.

Have some holes but we have a strong veteran core. Most of these kids started as freshmen and sophomores.

Soirem

I'm glad to see dollarway at the 6 for the fact that out of all those considered for number one, dollarway probably has the most questions. Every year its about who's gonna step up after the big stud leaves. There are always capable ones on board. Just the uncertainty of if they rise up or not.

I like the top 10 its about where I think all of us thought it would be. On others receiving votes, Arkadelphia may have one of the best defenses again next year but will really struggle with the loss of Oliver and Howell. Ashdown will be in the mix to make playoffs again in the 7-4a but they have to watch out for Mena. As will all of the conference Coach Harper is in his second year and returns a starting qb along with quite a few other playmakers. Clinton is a team on the outside of the top 10 looking in. Helena is a team that drops after making 5a playoffs and returns an all state qb. But they remind me of Marianna, a lot of athletes but not quite sure what you are going to get. Lincoln will really fall next year. Had Harris be coming back I'd give them making playoffs.
