So is Moody getting the job in Sugartown ?

In the words of you and UI,

Harv Welch?

Harv will have the Ricebirds in rare form. He almost got shot in Greenwood !

The name itself makes me laugh.

If you ever seen old Harv you'd laugh ! He was like a midget Chris Farley (SNL) type of guy. The Greenwood folks got rid of him quickly. I think he had a problem passing the Arkansas teacher certification !

In those years greenwood was hoping for a decent coach period!!

Ronnie Peacock had just won his 1st and only title at Greenwood. Then he ran into the invisible kingdom known as Rogers High. In comes Harv Welch, who single handedly set Greenwood back to 1975 ! They almost wanted to set him on fire and chase him out of town !

Why would you leave for Rogers? I'll never understand it. Look what legacy he could have had.

That worked out well for him. It eventually split into two schools and is a horrible football program.

closer to retirement the $$$$$$$$ are nice. maybe even better than a legacy.

Has the work started on the fields ?????????????

Apparently the school board has denied the request for more fundraising, so no go on the turf for now. I have no idea why the school board would shoot down a chance to get turf for little cost. It's my understanding that several private donations had been secured if the project got the green light. Makes no sense to me, but oh well....

Not going to happen this year, and maybe not the next, but it will likely happen soon after, according to the School Board President yesterday.  It's a sticky situation in that the city passed a millage increase a couple years ago earmarked for needed facility upgrades, and those are about to begin.  They are concerned, and rightfully so, that installing a field-turf field first, even with matching funds, will be a cause for concern for the taxpayers that were told the recent millage increase was for improvements to the High School and Junior High.

We have a great group of boosters who presented a terrific plan that would have meant a field turf field and new track as well as concession stand/restroom/drainage improvements by start of football season this fall.  I support them 100% and really appreciate their efforts and hard work.  It's unfortunate that the timing didn't work for the school board and their existing plans, but they are well aware of the interest (and need) and I am encouraged (and hopeful) that it will happen in the next few years.

Its pretty doubtful that the matching funds will be there in a few years, kinda put a bad taste in everybody's mouth.

where did the name sugartown come from?

Take the T's out of Stuttgart and you're left with Sugar. I always heard that the truckers referred to it as Sugartown.

looks like the Ricebirds could have a move in that will help this fall and will most assuredly help next spring. Nothing is final yet though

So did this happen?

Who is it?

cuckoobird

Yes it did. A kid with a good arm came back from private school

You're trying to tell me they can't sell enough rice in Stuttgart to get turf & A/C ? You guys still stuck in 1978 up there in ARKANSAS County ?
They are not by themselves.  CF is also stuck with 1978 thinking.
