Yep I stand corrected, it was '82. That is also the year Blevins won state in class B. Should have been the overall champ too that year.

Oh alright. Have they played anybody that is even halfway decent? I don't know anything about them.  Can somebody give me some information? I know it is around Nashville, but what are the demographics?

I've seen this group play when they were younger a few years back. They are extremely athletic. Like most teams from the south they don't have enough hard competition to consistently challenge them so their record is always a great reflection. Blevins has had an outstanding record for quite a few years, but still no one knows of them because they do not do anything at the end of the season. I think this year they will make some noise. They did give a good showing at bays team camp this summer. They will be one of the teams that could easily make a run for the title.

Pretty close to state averages:  http://www.greatschools.org/arkansas/blevins/199-Blevins-High-School/#!/demographics

Kendanj@hotmail.com

I do agree with you on that's do believe they will be there at the end this year.. They have played teams like Nashville gurdon kirby teams like that they played cedar ridge in team camp this year got beat by 3 without their 2 best players so I think they will def make some noise this year !! Tey are located by Prescott and hope

MDXPHD

What separates them from other teams? Do they have size or good chemistry? I guess I'll just have to make my way down there to watch them play and see how good they are.

hawgfan15

They have great chemistry and decent size. The starting 5 have played a lot of ball since junior high. Coach Kelton has also coached them since the 7th grade so they are very disciplined and know what he expects from them. Several people keep bringing up that they have had a good record the last couple of years which is true but 4 of the starting 5 have started since 10th grade. This is also only their second year in 2A. The 5th starter is a sophomore who was moved up at the end of last year and started.

PG- Trevon Reed 5'5 SOPH
SG- Montae Gentry 5'7 SR
SF- Quincy McDaniel 6'0 SR
PF- Tank Woodley 6'2 SR
C- River Kirkham 6'2 SR

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? Take another look at my post. For clarification I also said decent size, three kids at 6'0 or taller in your starting lineup is decent size in 2A. Woodley is a pretty big boy also, tough to move.

Dragon I

Maybe you do.  I said in actuality.  I know heights are exaggerated more than 40 times.  If they are listed at 6'2", no way they are taller than 6' 1/2".  James Anderson was listed at 6'6" at JC.  He was actually 6'4 1/4".  6'2" is like a 4.4 40

I think Hector dresses about 15...Rotate around 9 without much of a drop off. Most guys I've seen dressed out for us in Years(didn't watch a single game last year so then doesn't count)...Under the last coach we'd dress out 8-9...

Yes, everyone does.  Colleges, Pros, high schools.  They all fudge the numbers.  Bell is listed at 6'6" everywhere.  Rivals, Scout, 24/7, the state news paper, everywhere.  Truth is, he's 6'4" at best.  I would be amazed if you had two kids that were actually 6'2".

Well I guess they could I mean Jc has 2 that r listed as 6'6 but r 6'4 Bell and Grayson

Is it true that 1A team the guy is posting about beating all those 7A teams has a tallest player who's only 5' 22"?  ;D

Dragon I

JC does have two listed that height, and neither are actually that tall.  James Anderson measured in at exactly 6' 4 1/4" at the NBA combine.  Bell may be as tall as James was.   People just do not realize how tall 6'4" is.  James looked like a monster compared to everyone else one the court in high school.  Bell is the same way.

Stephens in the late 90's with the Glover brothers beat any classification that was thrown at them.

I guess it depends on if you measure them with their shoes on or off lol. Bell looks like a beast compared to some of the players he goes up against on a nightly basis that is for sure.

Best way to tell is to go stand by them and it will give you a better idea of how tall a kid is. Theres always some exaggeration in measurements though.

Coming from the character who knows nothing about Blevins but KNOWS they don't have anyone over 6'0 because everyone exaggerates heights. Makes sense...  ::)

Bearden_Bear72

I think thats why I like lower level classifications, because you never really know what a team is until you watch them and there are alot of teams

Watched that team in the state finals. They were pretty good. Then EPC hit the floor after them with Monk and the rest of them boys. 3A at the time and still to this day the best team Ive seen play, once Kyzer taught them how to play some D it was on. Averaged 30 point margin of victory and every team they played was legit. Conference had 3 of the semi-finalists and the other was put out by PA who EPC beat by 35 that year.

And now Waldo doesn't have a school. It is a shame all of these small schools have been shut down. There is a town on the other side of Magnolia that could play some ball back in the day too, McNeil.

Actually the size of Blevins was wrong because #24 river kirkam is 6'4 all the way an #2 tank woodley is 6'3 250 and moves like he weighes 100 pounds!! When playing tees kids it's like running a track meet the whole game!! Run and gun!! Very good chemistry been playing together since 4th grade, they are family and play like it! #4 Quincy McDaniel is 6'2 but has the arms of a 6'6 guy

I'm ready for them to play jc in the regionals championship that's if they get there

I'm just ready for these people to finally get a chance to see how talented these boys are, they will be there this year so get ready, got 2 point guards that will shake em out their shoes !! Ready for tournemnt time for sure !!

Don't think anyone has said Blevins isn't talented. Maybe they get over the hump this year. Some good teams in the way though.

Most athletic team in 2A. No one matches their depth of athleticism

thabeast428

I mean I'm not saying they won't get beat but it will take a real good team to do it especially if they r playing ball like they r capable of doing. Jc has about 10 guys that can play pretty good ball especially they starting 5

Kendanj@hotmail.com

I think that is what makes Blevins better this year because they have 5 off the bench scoring double figures also! I jus think 2a doesn't get enough recognition because they are small but I promise they are gonna bring it for sure!! We will see when the time comes I mean I know everyone has their own favorites

Kendanj@hotmail.com

and I can't say anything about jc because I have never seen them play but Blevins has played some of the same teams jc has played jc played lafayette county beat them 59 to 40 Blevins beat them 71 to 21 and their starters didn't play te 2nd half also jc beat gurdon by 16 Blevins beat them by 40 so if they play each other it's gonna be a good one
