After looking scores up on maxpreps.com and twitter, here's what I got:

good competition top to bottom on the boys side.

McClellan girls should be 3-3.  They have wins over Sylvan Hills, Mills, and Helena. They may actually make the playoffs for the first time in years.

Question.  Why does the Central have one more game played than the other conferences?  Thanks.

Not yet knowing the answer, I noticed that Jacksonville boys (last year's State Champs) are doing very well so far (according to the State paper)...

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette 5A Rankings 2012-02-02
BOYS
Jacksonville 18-3 (lost to Harrison in nonconference by 2, ouch!  But are undefeated in conference)
Morrilton 16-1 (undefeated in conference, won against Clarksville by 5 and Harrison by 6)
Clarksville 16-4 (only lost in conference was by 5 against Morrilton, beat Vilonia by 4 ??? and Harrison by 12)
Forrest City 13-4 (undefeated in conference)
Watson Chapel 15-3 (not sure, but maybe 6-1 or 5-2 undefeated in conference)
Harrison 13-6 (see above, but they lost to Alma by 4 in conference and are currently tied with the Airedales.  Worst game they have played this season)

...is why they are ranked higher in the 5A than Morrilton or Clarksville?

Titan Spirit

Central starts earlier and builds in a makeup date which is today and it was well planned because all cent ark schools are out today so they would not have played today anyway.

Jacksonville top 7 or 8 can compete with any team at least in 5A. The rotation has totally changed since the Harrison game, joyner does that almost every year it seems. Do not think they will finish conf undefeated there are to many good teams and they all bring their best when they play jville it seems, McClellan is very good and winning at PA is tough.

urban legend2

Good point Titan. The Jacksonville team that played Harrison earlier is completely different now. Kind of tough when you've got just one starter back and trying to fit in the pieces to put around him. But once Joyner did, and it took him about a month, they've been a much better team. I can see them winning out in conference, especially since they'll have a slight advantage when they play McClellan at home. PA on the road will be tough.

mrcoachceltic

I agree that Jacksonville will win out considering the 2nd place team has 2 losses.  I think the McClellan has the best chance of defeating Jville.  The teams are pretty evenly matched. PA has a great backcourt.  However, PA has serious frontcourt and depth issues.

Titan Spirit

PA has a big homecourt edge everytime Jville plays there...

I'm glad to hear that about Jacksonville and the Central conference.  Thanks.

One team that I have been impressed with from the West this season is Morrilton.  Winning 5A State Football Championship and doing fabulous at the Basketball midseason mark.  I say, "About dang time"!  They always seem to have the athletic talent, but doesn't always get the win.  Hopefully this year is a turnaround and are starting to click as a team.  I have watched them in football, basketball and soccer.

Devil Dogs' Sport's lists:
1.  They got football checked off the list.
2.  They have a good start on the basketball list in conference, then East, Central, South and maybe West once again.
3.  Baseball list, still needs to beat Vilonia/Harrison in conference, then try to beat a private school. ;)
4.  Soccer list, still needs to try to beat Greenbrier and of course Harrison (not going to happen) in conference, then maybe try to beat a private school. ;D

But all in all, they have a great start for around mid season in the 2013-2014 year.  I wish them plus all teams from Central, East, South and West the best in this All Sports season.

But this is a Basketball thread.  I checked on GOBSTV site to see if they had archived the Morrilton@Harrison games yet.  Not posted yet, but if they do, then I will post the link.  Great boys game.  Very entertaining.  Morrilton wins by 6.

No Morriton@Harrison game yet, but here is the link for the Harrison@Vilonia second round, Vilonia boys still have a shot at 3rd or 4th seed...

Vilonia boys has been very surprising this season.  A lot of non Seniors playing, next year should be very interesting.

Thanks Titan! I guess the girls is tough to gather?

Also, did all the Central schools have to postpone games last Friday? I heard that.

Go Postal

trackster, update the beginning post, then put pending in the subject title until you get all boys and girls scores like seven does.  Makes it easier to see how the conferences are doing.  Then see if Lanny or BG can pin your thread.  You and Titan are doing a great job.  Keep up the great work.

(side note:  I made the mistake on last year's Soccer conference, nonconference and playoff season (they play nonconference during conference season) of getting everyone to post updates, enjoyed it, but OMG, I didn't realize that it would be a career instead of just posting weekly conference updates.  I see why seven didn't do it.  LOL.)

I think all the games were canceled last friday and SH v W. Helena was canceled tuesday...

Jville make up game at LRC last night

Jvill girls won by 3 I think and boys won by 9'

Jvill girls still have to play at PA. If PA wins they will all sit with 2 conf losses. If Jvill wins they should be 1 LRC 2, PA 3

New Jvill girls coach has done a fantastic job with this group. Losing the two top players was tough but they have played well and not given up when they would have in the past.

urban legend2

I second that Titan. Roundtree has done a really good job. I honestly didn't think they'd be nearly as competitive as they are, especially when Hill transferred out. Don't know how deep of a tournament run they can make, but they will be a tough out for anyone.

AT

Alright updated somewhat. Thanks for the standings Titan. Let us know if you find out about any more make up games or girls scores.

Titan Spirit

2/18 winners

Boys
Jvill over W. Helena by 9...jvill clinches at least a tie for conf champs..travel to PA friday where it is almost impossible to win.
PA by a lot over SH
McClellan beat Mills 8 or 9
NP over LR Christian...big loss at home by christian leaves the door open, not sure who they have left

Girls

W. Helena over Jville by 1...big upset...loser of Jville PA friday will be 3 seed..winner 1 or 2
PA over SH
LR Christian over NP
not sure of mcclellan v Mills

I think Helena has only played 11. They still have to make up with Sylvan Hills. Same with NP vs. PA.

Helena made up that game with Sylvan Hills Wednesday night.  Girls are 6-6 going into Friday's games.  Boys are 3-9

Helena's girls beat Mills to move to 7-6 in conference. Mills boys won 66-53. Does anyone know how the McClellan girls did tonight?

Mills beat NP I believe

jvill plays sh can win conf outright with a win
PA 1 or 2
McClellan 3
Not sure what the 4 seed looks like Mills or LRC

Top 3 boys teams should be able to compete with anyone in the tourney. Second round will be interesting if the matchups pan out and the top 2 central teams meet the top 2 from the west.
