All these are from the high school board.  Just thought someone looking here might be interested.

The first meet the regional meets, where the Razorbacks compete in the West regional (there's one other regional, the East). A quick rundown on how regionals work. No team scores are kept, it's all about qualifying runners to nationals. The top 48 declared athletes in each of the 2 regions are taken for each event. The top 12 finishers for each event in the two regions are taken to nationals (24 in total).

Here are the Razorback men who will be competing at regionals. In parenthesis I've put the chances they make it to nationals

400 meter dash
Akheem Gauntlett (Good)
Marek Niit (Decent, but needs to improve a little)
Neil Braddy (Will have a difficult time)
Anton Kokorin (Will have a difficult time)

800 meter run
Leoman Momoh (Decent...I hardly ever say good for an 800)
Ryan Thomas (Decent)
Anthony Lieghio (Decent)
Patrick Rono (Decent)
Tomas Squella (Will have a difficult time)

5000 meter run
Kemoy Campbell (Good)

10000 meter run
Solomon Haile (Good)

400 meter hurdles
Caleb Cross (Pretty good)

3000 meter steeplechase
Stanley Kebenei (Good)
David Flynn (Will have a difficult time)

4 x 100 meter relay
Arkansas (Good)

4 x 400 meter relay
Arkansas (Good)

High Jump
Anthony May (Decent...never say good for the high jump, too unpredictable)
Brede Ellingsen (Will need to jump better than he has)
Noah Kittelson (Will need to have a great day)
Dwayne Golbek (Will have a difficult time)

Pole Vault
Andrew Irwin (Good)

Long Jump
Tarik Batchelor (Good)
Jarrion Lawson (Decent)
Raymond Higgs (Will need to have a good day)

Triple Jump
Tarik Batchelor (As long as he doesn't scratch 3 times like at conference...good)
Anthony May II (Will need to have a good day)

Javelin
Jeff Woods (Will need to have a good day)

Prelims started today. Only event that is currently going with Razorbacks is the long jump. Lawson, Batchelor, and Higgs are 1st, 3rd, and 5th respectively and all of them are in great position to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene (top 12 finishers advance)

All 3 Razorback long jumpers advance to Eugene. Cross advances to the next round in the 400 meter hurdles.(not Eugene yet, one more round to get through).

Both Razorback women advance to the next round also in their respective 400 meter hurdle event (Sparkle McKnight and Gwendolyn Flowers)

More updates from yesterday:

Out of the 4 high jumpers participating, 2 of them qualified for Eugene (Anthony May and Dwayne Golbek). I expected May to make it, but didn't expect Golbek at all.

In the 400, Akheem Gauntlett and Anton Kokorin both qualified for the next round of the 400. One more round to go to qualify for Eugene. Marek Niit did not compete in the 400, which concerns me quite a bit. I hope he isn't injured, because we need him for the 4x4 and 4x1.

In the 800, all 5 Razorbacks (Momoh, Lieghio, Rono, Squella, Thomas) qualified to the next round. They will have one more round to run to decide who goes to Eugene.

In the 10K, Solomon Haile of Arkansas qualified for Eugene by finishing 2nd.

Today, we will have Akheem Gauntlett and Anton Kokorin trying to qualify for Eugene in the 400, the 5 Razorbacks trying to qualify for Eugene in the 800, Cross trying to qualify for Eugene and in 400 meter hurdles, and Stanley Kebenei and David Flynn trying to qualify for Eugene in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

Day 2 of the West prelims was a little wild. At around 3 o clock, the skies opened up in Austin, Texas and a 5 hour weather delay ensued. The high jump cover was floating around and some parts of the infield looked like a pond.

Eventually, at 8 PM, the running events started, which meant the last event ended around 1 AM.

Here's how the Razorbacks did yesterday:

In the 400 meter dash, Akheem Gauntlett qualified for Eugene, but Anton Kokorin missed out by 2 places.

In the 800, we came through pretty good, with 4 out of 5 runners qualifying for Eugene (Momoh, Rono, Lieghio, Squella). Thomas missed out by 5 spots.

Caleb Cross qualified for Eugene in the 400 meter hurdles.

Stanley Kebenei qualified for the 3000 meter steeplecase in Eugene also.

So far, the Razorback men have qualified 13 scoring opportunities for Eugene which is the most, ahead of Texas A&M (11) and Texas (10).

AT

Arkansas men qualify for Eugene in the 4x1 and the Texas A&M men are DQ'd for exchanging outside the zone. Good news for the Razorbacks.
