I thought Mena had a shot before they lost a few starters,  but I'm  being told this is still a special team,  should be an entertaining year,   I live in Greenwood now though and with Conar Noland now a SR. I will probably not make many Mena games though this season.

1- Nashville
2- Robinson
3- Mena
4- Arkadelphia
5. Ashdown
6 Malvern
7. Fountain Lake

This should be one exciting year for the 7-4A with the top 3 teams.... Usually 1 or 2 teams plant themselves way above everyone in the league but this should be quite a competitive year coming up in this league.

1-2. Nashville & Arkadelphia
3-4. Robinson & Ashdown
5. Mena
6. Malvern
7. Fountain Lake
8. Bauxite

Nashville and Arkie play week 4 which favors Arkie. Nashville should improve a lot as the season goes on with a lot of young players. Robinson or Ashdown could jump to 2.

I put up Arkadelphia & Robinson, but I think Ashdown and Mena (even w/ the starters out) could be REAL contenders for conference winners! Nashville will always been good, I wonder if its #1? Maybe this is not their year....who knows!?
I haven't heard good things about Malvern's year but they can always show up...Not sure about Fountain Lake...anyone have info on them this year? After the hail mary win over Arkadelphia last year you can't ever count them out.

FBfan79

Moved out of state but I was told FL looked good at a recent team camp.  New coach, new system.... not sure what to expect.  I would imagine they should be improved as they were a young team last year.  They will scrimmage against CAC who apparently is changing to a wing t offense. Should be interesting. Here are their stat leaders from last year.

Rushing:
Roberson (SO) 190car 1310 yds 6.9avg
Tedford (JR)  60car 246yds 4.1avg
Horton (JR) 33car 208yds 6.3avg

Receiving:
P. Johnson (JR) 37rec 841yds 22.7 avg
Dodge (JR) 8rec 207yds 25.9 avg
Horton (JR) 9rec 186yds 20.7 avg

Defense:
Simpson (SO) 89 tackles
Murphy (SO) 79 tackles 1int
A. Johnson (SO) 50 tackles 5 int
Horton (JR) 49 tackles

was meant to be Robinson,   not Malvern.    But all 3 of them ,  Arkadelphia, Robinson , and Nashville I expect to be really good.      I think Mena is ahead of Ashdown and Malvern.

I heard tonight Jamarte Gilliam is playing. If Pettway indeed rejoins the team we suddenly have possibly the best overall crew of receivers and a very good secondary. Old Ville might have some teeth left for this year.

There's no doubt and I think Coach V playing down how good they'll be will only help them...

Fountain Lake looked polished in last night's scrimmage win over CAC. There will still be some growing pains this season, but I think we're looking at a team that will challenge for a playoff spot this year.

-This conference appears that it will not go chalk and have the standings go 7-0, 6-1, 5-2, 4-3, and so forth all the way down to 8th place at 0-7. I see a lot of team A beats team B, then team B beats team C, then team C beats team A..... This league looks like it may get pretty congested in the standings cause a lot of teams seem in the same ball park talent wise going on two weeks worth of results to base my opinion off of. Arkadelphia does seem a slight cut above. I haven't taken the time to see how their schedule flows but it could be hard for them to go through unbeaten if they play the other top half teams all bunched up in a 3 week period or something like that. It's hard to not have a sluggish game every so often. You just hope that happens when you play a bottom level team and it doesn't bite you. Those games just happen with 15-18 year olds. It would not shock me whatsoever if one of 2-4 teams I listed snags a win over Arkadelphia then you are in the drivers seat even with a loss holding the head to head over the Badgers. This could end up being the most fun league to follow on a weekly basis with some close games each Friday. If someone does come out of the 7-4A with a 7-0 conference record I don't know how you don't automatically put them as one of the 2 or 3 favorites to hoist the trophy in December.

I agree that has happened several times before,    Last good one I remember was 2014 I believe when Mena made the state title game despite finishing 4th in conference.     I do believe Robinson has the best shot to go 7-0 though.

And as for Mena can't beat Nashville well they haven't  ,  I don't even know other then my team in 2000 in JR High if we have beat them in JR. High.   so yeah it doesn't happen.    But 2014 we were better and our best player got suspended and couldn't play and took that shot away.   This year appears to be the best chance in a long time to get it done.    I think Mena is very well coached and will have a good shot to get it done this year.

Mr. Mercer

A lot will be known after Week 6. Arkydoo plays Nashville Week 4 and Robinson Week 5. Robinson plays Nashville Week 6. Ashdown could be the wild card. Just depends if they've got any line play at all.

mharris31696

I would give Robinson the edge at the moment. They have Arkadelphia and Nashville back 2 back at home. Badgers play Nashville at home and Robinson on the road in back 2 back weeks. Nashville goes to both but plays Ft Lake in between. After week 2 I would say Robinson, Arkadelphia, Nashville, Ashdown, Mena 1-5

Sportshawk

I thought Arkadephia was a scary team for the future with their young team last year.  They lost a lot of games they could have won last year which is what happens to young teams.  Breaks nearly always even out over the long haul, and the Badgers have a great shot at a state final.

Nacho

Next week will be very telling how the top four play out. Exciting stuff.

I agree here.

2. Arky

4. Nashville
5. Mena
6. FL
7. Bauxite
8. Malvern

I think Arky and Robinson have a great chance of going to the championship this year, while for others it's a year to grow.

If Mena finishes 5th in Conference I will not post anymore on here,
