And JC's history has the ability to draw in kids with ability.

From within a set boundary....yes

There is no such boundary for private schools

.........The money the kids parents have or do not have has nothing to do with their ability on the field.

C'mon man, what world do you live?

Rivercrest has a free and reduced lunch rate of around 70%.  Junction has a free and reduced lunch rate of around 65%.

Odds are if a kid from a school with a high free and reduced rate wants a car, that kid has to get a part time job to find some beater.  That effects the time the kid can devote to athletics and might even keep the kid out of a sport completely.  Same thing goes with just trying to have spending money.

Private schools don't have to publish the equivalent of a free and reduced lunch rate.  My best guess is if they did it would be real close to 0%.  That kid wants a vehicle, chances are daddy works it out to toss the key to a new truck to junior and tells him to get back in the basement rec room and hit the bowflex.  That kid needs spending money there's probably a weekly allowance or credit card.

Plus, there are a number of private school parents who think their kid is going to be the next NFL HOFer.  They have a better chance to have the household incomes to get private trainers, send junior to exclusive camps and pretty much make sure that junior's main focus can be Friday nights.

Natural ability can't be bought, but don't tell me household income has no effect on athletics.

The best recruiting tool ever lol

Ain't that the truth.

Not easy to keep kids in the district when the evil empire is paying them to leave.

bleudog

And back to DI's original post.  I agree with his assessment that there are more schools in 3A that have a reasonable chance to win a 3A title than there are teams in 2A that have a reasonable chance to win a 2A title.  And not having to worry that 1-3 teams in your conference will drop football at some point in the season is refreshing.

If you would have just clicked on the Freshmen's names that you said had stats.. You would know exactly WHICH game those kids played in..

For example:

http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/jaimarious-frazier/GzpSi7tHEeeT-Oz0u-e-FA/gendersport/football-stats.htm#year=17-18

Which was against Drew Central... WEEK 10. Which Junior High Season was over WEEK 9.

Have you watched the games? Or are you just lying, thinking no one will call you out?
Numbers 23, 28, 32, 41, 44...those numbers mean anything to you? All freshmen, and guess what? All 5 of those have seen playing time in over the last 4-5 games.

Let me just make it easier for you....

Notice the common thing here? They only played Week 10.

Coltfan2005

Notice that I mentioned that they might have played in week 10. But the important thing is...they played!

THA TRUTH

Why does it even matter

dragondad

It was like 60-0 and Drew Central wouldn't quit,  somebody had to play.

But the money and resources they have does effect their ability to draw in the kids with ability.

I cant speak for PA or Episcopal Dragon Dad, but that isn't how things happen at HA.   Alluding to another comment, you could draw probably a 3 mile circle around HA and 90 percent of the students/athletes live there and have since Kindergarten.  That equaled a graduating class of 40 last year.   What's important here really though is congrats. to JC and Rivercrest.   I firmly believe we have the 2 best teams that are going to play for the championship.  What has made this year particularly good, to me, is that it has taken all these games to find who the best 2 really are.   JC and Rivercrest are 1 and 2 (not sure which) and it should be a great game for title.  Good luck to both.   I will definitely be watching it.  Probably from the comfort of my own home though  :).

dragondad

I know, was just pointing out that private schools do have that unrestricted ability....thats why they play up.

It's been a great season, every team fought hard and earned their place in the rankings.  People talk about weak conferences but I haven't seen a team that didn't deserve to be where they were, or are.  Toughest pre-season JC has had in years,  and it's been nerve racking, yet loads of fun.

And you should do the same for the JC/Delhi charter....limits the # of kids, not just distance.

the nec charter says junction City can have 150 kids from 2(self imposed boundary here by my understanding) Louisiana parishes....

Delhi charter a new one that expands on the current one?

Dragon I

NEC is the Delhi charter I believe.

Delhi Charter is a Type 2 charter school in Richland Parish.  They got approval from BESE (Board of Elementary and Secondary Education which is the LA equivalent to the Arkansas Department of Education) to temporarily expand their approved area of service to include Claiborne Parish and acted as a bridge school for one year to cover the time between Claiborne School District dissolving their agreement with Junction City School District and Northeast Claiborne getting set up with BESE.  There is no longer any affiliation with Delhi Charter.

As far as the 150, there is an automatic increase each year for a set number of years.  When that agreement is renewed a new limit is approved by BESE.  Junction's Report to Public showed 168 out of state kids for 2017-2018.

So that's approx 13-14 LA kids per grade K-12 if we're maxed out.

Yea bleudog.  I believe all are closing in Arkansas (19 of them I think).   Lots of jobs lost and prayers to those people.  There is never a good time for that but maybe even a worse thing this time of year, huh.   But on a lighter note, "Dixie" has been about the only place where I have gotten the occasional fried okra fix during the last 10 years.

Dang. I didn't think you guys were that down on roster size.
