DENHAM SPRINGS -- Players ran around Yellow Jacket Stadium the last several days preparing for a new football season.

Nothing looked much different within the white lines. The familiar purple-and-yellow jerseys. The 'DS' logo on the helmet the same as ever.

Football was back, and for a few hours each morning, the 80-90 players able to be there could put everything else on the backburner. Same for the coaches, including veteran DSHS coach Dru Nettles, whose house and life were turned topsy-turvy as much as anybody else by the historic rains and floods that swallowed up the city and much of the parish Aug. 12-14.  Click here to read rest of story
