4A Girls had Soccerfan and ArkansasSportsFan both go 7-1, getting Baptist Prep over Shiloh wrong. Fussballer is in third behind them, having also gotten Riverview over Warren incorrect.
4A Boys had ArkansasSportsFan go 7-1 again, missing Green Forest over Cossatot. "Dardanelle takes it" and "Untitled" are in second and third, respectively.
5A Girls saw The Coach and Clueless go perfect in the opening round, with Just1Coach and "Back on Top, lRCA Outlasts Harrison for Crown" just behind having missed Vilonia over DeQueen.
5A Boys Fussballer, Just1Coach, and The Coach all at 7-1. The latter two missed Clarksville over DeQueen, and Fussballer having missed Lakeside over Maumelle. Lot of people at 6-2.
6A Girls has PantherDad and "Untitled" perfect, with basically everyone else sitting at 3-1.
6A Boys um.... everyone except Soccerfan is 4-0. Thirteen way tie for first. Soccerfan had Texarkana over Hall.
7A Girls is five people at 3-1 and two at 2-2.
7A Boys Fussballer is 4-0 and RazorDad, The Coach, "Untitled", and ArkansasSportsFan are just behind at 3-1.
Looking at Day 1, Baptist Prep over Shiloh and Clarskville over DeQueen look like big upsets. Perhaps Vilonia over DeQueen and Texarkana over Jonesboro, too? I don't know enough about 5A/6A Girls to be sure on the last two. Big congrats to all those teams.
Here are the games that I would love to watch:
4AB Green Forest vs Warren, Lyon College, 12p
Warren are likely the favorites for this one. Green Forest has a sort of Jekyl/Hyde quality to them where their play can just vary so drastically from day to day. Winner of this one will get "rewarded" with playing Dardanelle on Saturday (probably). I bet this one will have a lot of action.
5AG Little Rock Christian vs Greenbrier, Harrison HS, 2p
I know it's been a bit since Searcy Girls have won State (due to Siloam being a buzzsaw the last 4 years), but I still think of them as having a quality team. Greenbrier beat them away 1-0 and then at home on KFTM. Greenbrier is a good team. LRCA doesn't really need an introduction. This should be a really good game.
5AB Hot Springs vs Little Rock Christian, Fed Ex, 12p

5AB Pulaski Academy vs Clarksville, Harrison HS, 4p
After the win over DeQueen, Clarksville are right back in it with a tough one against PA.

If I remember correctly, this was a really toughly contested game in the playoffs last year. Hall looks like they've lost a few players but this one will probably be very fast and very physical.
7AG Bryant vs Har-Ber, Rogers High, 12p
Har-Ber could have easily been the two seed in the West. I think this one will probably be the best game of the day played at Rogers High.

I was kidding. (Kind of! Haha). Harrison has a phenomenal girls program. Are they they only 5A public school your daughter lost to? I would assume VV and Maumelle are the only others with a chance.

Hmmm - good question. In the playoffs, yes, because LRCA beat us in the finals the only year Harrison didn't beat us.
In regular season, it's hard to remember for sure... and who was what classification. For example, I know we lost to Bryant and Searcy, but they were 7A and 6A.
We beat VV the only time we played them (regular season). We did lose to Maumelle last year, but probably wouldn't have normally. We were up 3-1 at the half, but our goalie had to leave for another school commitment at the half. Our coach decided to put our best offensive player in the goal for the second half (because she is fearless) and we couldn't keep the ball on the offensive side of the field after that, so Maumelle got tons of opportunities in the second half and got three goals to take a late lead, and the game, 4-3. In retrospect, we should have kept the offensive player at her regular position to keep the pressure on instead of going into a passive mode.
I can't remember another 5A public team beating us, but I could be forgetting. Thing is, it wouldn't have been in conference (where most of our 5A games are played) since the Central division is not very strong outside of PA and LRCA... Sylvan Hills is usually decent. They are always well-coached and they play very hard, but ultimately not quite good enough to beat PA in the years my daughter was there. If we had to play Valley View every year, they probably would have beaten us at least once.
Still sad we never got a championship while my daughter was there. Made it to the finals three years, but couldn't quite close out that last game. Didn't make it to the finals last year, but we had a depth problem when one starting Sophomore defender transferred to LR Central, another starting Senior defender (2-time All-State) decided not to play so she could focus on volleyball, and a starting Senior forward (3-time All-State) decided not to play so she could focus on basketball. Needless to say, I can't help but wonder what might have been... but that's just how the ball bounces sometimes.

Thanks! And you are absolutely right. Plenty to be proud of. She played for a club team (Arkansas United) that was an outstanding team. They won state every year and got to go to Southern Regionals multiple times. And she did make All-State herself her senior year, so that was nice. I know I'm bragging on her a bit now, but to make your point that there is plenty to be proud of. :D

Warren is pretty much rolling across all sports right now.
Just got back from watching almost two days of 6A soccer. Would have been happier if to were three days but it wasn't in the cards. Got to see seven games total at Russellville High School. Wasn't able to attend any of the games held at Arkansas Tech unfortunately.
Got to see some amazing soccer, and some not so great soccer. Either way I got the privilege of watching soccer. There were some upsets as expected and some expected results.
One thing always stands out to me when watching playoff ball. After every single game there's a group of seniors that just played their last high school soccer game and possibly their last organized game ever. For each group and each player there's a unique story that I'll never know. Did that group have a successful high school career? What is a successful high school career? Did they ever win a champhionship? Did they ever play for a championship? Is this their first time to make the playoffs? The questions go on forever. Regardless of the answers it's a tough thing to watch play out in person.
A couple things stood out to me this weekend in particular.....
1. The fact that the Russellville school system didn't see fit to let their student body out to support their teams in the playoffs. Many noticed and commented about this. That's one of the great priveleges of hosting the playoffs. Having the home field advantage with a large community and student body support. They didn't allow this for some reason. Our entire student body came to support our teams last year when we hosted the playoffs and it gave our players a great boost on the field. Most unfortunate deal in my opinion.
2. The Lady Benton panthers. Kudos to this team and their players for winning their semi final game as a two seed over the East conference champion Mt Home. I've watched Benton from afar for the last three years. In 2016 they made it to the second round with this being the furthest they had ever made it. Each year following they made it one round further until finally making it to the ship. Well deserved in this layman's opinion.
Something else that stood out to me, and this is something that we've discussed on here many times, is the difference in level of play between the east and the west. While this seems a little more prevalent on the girl's side it applies to the boys too. We see these teams year after year go into the playoffs looking like absolute powerhouses only to get curb stomped in the playoffs. I've watched this pattern play out for a few years now consistently. When looking over their schedules it always seems to me like their choices for non conference games are poorly thought out. Almost seems like they do everything they can to pad their stats going into the playoffs in hopes of intimidating the competition, when in all actuality they have set themselves up for major disappointment due to having drummed every easy team they can possibly find to play them.

Just got back from watching almost two days of 6A soccer. Would have been happier if to were three days but it wasn't in the cards. Got to see seven games total at Russellville High School. Wasn't able to attend any of the games held at Arkansas Tech unfortunately.
Got to see some amazing soccer, and some not so great soccer. Either way I got the privilege of watching soccer. There were some upsets as expected and some expected results.

Regardless of the answers it's a tough thing to watch play out in person.

When you look at schools like Jonesboro and Mt. Home it's tougher to get good non conference games that are a challenge. The only competitive school that's a non conference opponent is about an hour and 30 minutes away for Jonesboro (Searcy) and about the same for Mt. Home (Harrison). Unfortunately there isn't a lot there for these teams to play against, as far as conference goes Jonesboro has Valley View for competition and Mt. Home has Searcy, so again there's not a lot of competitive games unless you drive 2-3 hours. I'd say Jonesboro has matched up well with Russellville in the last 2 years, losing by a goal this year, Mt. Home made it to the finals last year. Overall I'd agree that the top 2 from the west are a small step above the top 2 in the east.
As far as the girls side go, yeah this year supports what you said pretty well. Haha
Don't know but I don't think Buck was talking just conference games. Jonesboro and Mt Home is out there for games. Siloam Springs fill the schedule with what 7a teams will play them and usually grab 2-3 Oklahoma teams like Tulsa and Owasso.
A lose to a 7a school will teach your players more then a 12-0 game that you play to fill the schedule or pad stats.
Searcy has Cabot and Conway close. Not to mention all those teams right in central Ar.

The lose last year to Owasso. They had 4-D1's and a few D2's. Tied at half and lost 3-1at the end. This year it was tie. That lose is better then playing a team Siloam knows will beat 10-0.
The other lose for Siloam was Tulsa this year.
If I was the El Dorado Coach. I'd be looking for Tx and LA teams.
MT Home might be able to grab some Mo teams. I don't know about that area. Jonesboro is the only one that might have a hard time finding competition.

Being from south Arkansas, El dorado may not have the same ability to play schools from out of state. I'm not sure about Texas, but Louisiana plays high school soccer in the fall.

Texas plays soccer as a winter sport, so their season is wrapping up as Arkansas is starting.

6A Girls Pantherdad and "BHS" will finish in 1st and 2nd, respectively, if Benton wins, and it will also mean Pantherdad was perfect. If Siloam Springs wins, first goes to LetsGo5 and second to RazorDad. Everyone in this bracket has either Benton or Siloam Springs winning, funnily enough.
6A Boys A Russellville win means The Coach goes perfect and wins this whole thing, with "6A" in second. A Siloam Springs win gives "Untitled" and ArkansasSportsFan a shared victory here.
7A Girls A Rogers win gives it to Soccerfan, otherwise RazorDad takes it.
7A Boys I think this may have been the toughest bracket, no one did well here. If Northside wins, ArkansasSportsFan takes it. Otherwise, The Coach and "Untitled" split it.
