Where can I find the auto qualifying times for each event?

In addition to seven's link, I'll start putting the qualifying standard in parenthesis beside each respective event. It's a dumb thing to leave out. I'm slowly getting through this because I made it hard on myself again and kind of started from scratch since I decided to remove the indoor times/distances (they were confusing me). So I'll be caught up soon, hopefully.

trackster, HackerHog and I were admiring the new track facilities the other night here at the soccer games.  He has been keeping up with 5A baseball and I have been keeping up with 5A soccer for Spring sports, but we are noobs for Track info/stats/games/qualifying/whatever.  We were both wanting to see this sport and need know any info that we can get on how Track is "tracked" for stats (?) in the State and especially in the 5A.  I saw the Harrison Track schedule in the link below, but I'm still not sure of what it means.  PM me with any of your expert knowledge on this sport.  Thanks.

Brandon Cox qualified in the 100 at Vilonia Thursday night. Cabot 4x100 nearly qualified and probably will on Tuesday.

Was the Panther Relays at Magnolia this past Friday a qualifying meet?

Yes, I just entered that meet in. I have a few meets left...there were a lot on Thursday and Friday.

For what it's worth, one way to tell if a meet is a qualifying meet is to look at the equipment near the start / finish line.  If runners are being electronically timed, it is likely the meet is a qualifying meet.

On the other hand, if a meet is being hand timed, it is NOT a qualifying meet.

Of course, you have to be there to know this.......

Also, I was told that the times at the Crossett meet we're not qualifying, but the jumps were.

Ok, thanks gojackets!

I've been reading up on how certified track meets work...it seems this is what they do...

If the FAT (the automatic timer) works for every running event, then the meet is considered a state qualifying meet.

If the timer does not work for certain events, then those running events will not count towards state qualifying but all field events will (since those are standard measurements).

Lastly I learned that there has to be a wind reading for appropriate events (in the 100, 200, LJ, and TJ) and if it's above the allowable mark (2.00 or above), then that time/mark does not count.

This means I have to go back and do some work, which is why it's taking me longer, but I'm going to start putting up some events today

AT

Also, I'm going to start doing this thing where I will not be counting a meet until its submitted to varvee. Even if it's a state qualifying meet and is on directathletics, I'm not going to count it until it's on varvee, because I don't think the AAA is either

MHSGrad

Based on the amount of teams at the magnolia meet, I'm going to assume they didn't pay to have it as a qual meet.. Magnolia's meet is always a qual meet, but I just can't see them forking the bill for 3 teams

Coach Alley

Brandon Cox may have not qualified. I believe the wind durin their heat was +2.1.

pantherxctf

Does anyone know if the gravette meet counted as a state qualifier? I know it was mainly a 4A meet but Siloam was there.

Looks like it was.  Is is on the list of qualifying meets submitted to varvee (on the AAA website) and the 100 had wind times on directathletics.

Coach Alley

I'm curious why varvee isn't listing everyone's time. For example Altee Tenpenny has ran some good times this year and aren't listed.

If Tenpenny was at Vilonia last week, those times are on Varvee.
Having said that, NLR may be running at meets that are not automatic qualifiers....

He ran at Vilonia. Got 4th place in the 100m.

Also, I should have noted, give AT a little time as I am sure he is working through a lot of meets now that we are in the heart of the track season.

With that in mind, AT if a person wanted to help you in this process of collecting and updating the best times, what could they do (how could they help)?

Anyone see anything odd about these times from the Magnolia meet in March?

http://varvee.com/team/game/60/29/2529/event:156

Yeah, that (I think you meant Monticello) meet definitely had some timing problems. I'm only using the field events from that.

I finally have a day to finish catching up. Been super busy Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday

They have to if the timer messed up, which I've been told it has.

Coach Alley

I did some investigating and brought this up to varvee and Monticello meet director. I received an email. Here it is:

> I do not know if I am suppose to reply to you but as the hytek coordinator I can assure you those times are accurate as recorded with the camera aligned w the hytek system
>
> We also had a girl break the 1600 by alot. But it is accurate too
>
> You have to remember due to conflicts w other sports and weather some of these kids have not gotten to run a meet under decent conditions this year.
>
> I appreciate your concern though
> Hopefully he will run a time close to this again so it will lend credence to this time

According to Mrs. Carmichal 5 of the fastest times ran in the state were in one heat at their track meet. Garbage. No way.

Trust me, I'm not using those times.

She also seems to think that it's statistically probable that every single running time ends to a perfect hundredth of a decimal place.

Yes, but is the AAA using those times?

BTW I will be giving live updates of the Cabot meet this Tuesday. At least I hope to be doing so.

A few notes. I don't understand why NLR athletes aren't listed on varvee but they're running in the same meets and heats as some of the guys listed.

Also, I was on the AAA website and it looks like the 100m qualifying time is 11.18.

Don't know about the NLR athletes.

I see you're right about the 7A qualifying standards...seems they almost changed all of them.

Must of had a calculation error initially. They still haven't changed the 6A 100 meter dash AQ and I know that's not right.

Hi, I'm new to the board and would like to say thank you.  It is difficult to find information for high school track.  My daughter ran at Watson Chapel throughout her high school career.  Now my son (Josh Balentine) is running and this will be his final year.  I will be visiting this site often in search of information.

Good news for Chapel is that he has put together a 4x100 team (as of yesterday) so look for them to qualify at conference next week in the all the sprints and the 4x100.

I am disappointed in that Chapel has participated in exactly ONE meet this year (Monticello).  They had their first practice the week after the last high school basketball game.

They will have to make their mark at the conference meet if they want to go to State.  I'll be there screaming like a banshee cheering for our guys.

Your son is a very good sprinter. I haven't seen him in person, but his results over the past few years have been impressive.

I wish him the best of luck at state and conference. 5A will be updated fully later on.

Thank you.  He played football for Chapel throughout his high school career so track was always an after thought for the coaches.  He is running on raw talent alone.  He is driven enough that he goes to the track by himself.  He is almost a year younger than many of those he runs against (17 now and will still be 17 when he starts at the university in the fall).

He was hoping to get scholarship offers for football or track but seems to have been overlooked and will go to university on academics alone, hoping to walk on the team.  If you want to see him run, here is his highlight video I pulled together on hudl.  http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1543011/#highlights/36673374
