Polls are starting to come out and every one of them has the Hogs in the top 5. I can't wait for the season!
I am by no means an Arkansas fan, but I do love some good baseball. Hope they have a great season and represent the state well. I'm ready for opening day.
Honestly us playing Bucknell is a joke imo.... Go play real competition instead of playing "feel good" opponents. This team is good, but a team like Bucknell should never be on the schedule. Winning 32-4 is not going to be of any benefit when the 30 game SEC grind starts.
It's the first series ever team that will be in college World Series will play someone that is just as bad as Bucknell! This team will be one of the best we have ever had because of pitching staff and now we have a heck of a hitting coach!
Beating someone 32-4 in baseball is classless in my opinion.... I have heard people saying "well they are predicted to win the Patriot League"..... Seriously this is not basketball and that would not even mean that much in basketball let alone baseball when the Patriot League is worse than some DII conferences in the south and west in baseball. Not a fan of our players acting like goons over walloping a pub team.
Can't tell the guys not to swing. But yeah that's a heck of a beating and I wish they would have same some of those runs for later in the season lol

That is not classless. It's baseball. Everybody was hitting. You can't expect the kids to not hit the ball. It would have been classless to purposely run into an out, or to strike out purposely. That is Showing up an opponent. If they played only the starters, then you have a valid point. But they played a lot of kids. The opposition also started throwing lesser pitchers in order to salvage arms for Sunday's game. Almost paid off with a 3-1 game there.

I saw the initial announcement so not a lot of info then about why. But there has to be a lot going on for that to happen right as the season starts. Anyone know what happened?
Affair with a staffer
Apparently it was an on going thing that quite a few people knew about. Was told to end it and never did. Crazy world we live in.
Love Razorback baseball! I think this team is going to be really, really good! I really believe they have what it takes to compete for an SEC title, and get back to Omaha! The question will be, will we live up to all of the hype? I know it's early, but just by judging the other SEC teams, SEC play will be tough as expected!! No off weeks!!
Congratulations to SEC Freshman of the Week Casey Martin from Lonoke.

You'll get treated to one heck of a pitching matchup tomorrow night! Auburn's Casey Mize May be the best pitcher in the country! Hasn't given up a walk in over a month! And of course, we know how good Blaine Knight is!
Still a lot of season left, but I think this is a very pivotal series for both teams, as both have lost back to back series!
If the Hogs can at least get 2 over the Tigers, I think we'll be in good shape for the rest of the year, as the rest of the schedule is very doable IMO!
I know that no team is easy in the SEC, but I really believe that the rest of our series are winnable!

Pretty impressive. Hoping to make it up to a game soon. Never watched the Hogs in Baum
In all 9 of our losses this season, the other team has scored at least one unearned run. If we cut down on the errors, we'll be very successful.
It was a fun, but cold, weekend at Baum! I enjoyed the Friday and Saturday games with plenty of blankets and hot chocolate.

1st time since 2010 we've swept 3 SEC series!
Field of 64 projections this week have us as the 4th national seed, with Yale, Iowa and Oklahoma coming to Fayetteville for the regional.
1) Arkansas
2) Oklahoma
3) Iowa
4) Yale
They project UCLA as the 13th seed, so the Bruins would come to Baum for a super regional in this scenario.
But of course, both teams would have to win their regionals for that to happen.
Again, this is just a projection.

If they can get another tight win like they did last night out of the next 2 games it might be what this team needs to have the confidence to get it done if they did by chance have to go on the road for a Super Regional or even in Omaha possibly. Kind of funny. If we could scratch out a nat seed we have a great shot at natl title sonce we play CWS on neutral field. With that being said i cant see how we deserve it. Hogs finish the home regular season 30-3 over all and 14-1 against the SEC
Impressive
Hogs close out the regular season at UGA next Thursday to Saturday, playing for a top 8 seed in the NCAA tournament, a Western Division title, and a top 4 finish in the SEC which will give them a 1st round bye in the SEC tournament in Hoover, Alabama.
The Razorbacks still hold a 1 game lead in the West at 17-10, while Ole Miss just sits 1 game back at 16-11.
While the Hogs control their own destiny to a West title, there's no margin for error in Athens, meaning they're probably going to have to pull off a sweep of the Bulldogs. Otherwise, we'll have to hope that Ole Miss drops at least 1 game at last place Alabama.
To assure themselves of a top 4 finish for the SEC tournament that will get them a 1st round bye in Hoover, Arkansas needs to win once in Athens. Otherwise, they could finish as low as 6th

Good news: Ole Miss lost to Bama tonight, so the Hogs still hold a 1 game lead in the West
Arkansas is 18-11, while Ole Miss is 17-12
Arkansas has clinched at least a share of the West title, and can win it outright with either a win tomorrow at UGA, or with another Ole Miss loss at Bama
I wish we would just take it with a win!
Yes for sure!
The odds don't favor us today. We are one of three teams that have yet to win a road series, with LSU and Tennessee being the other two. All three have a chance to break through today, with LSU having the best chance against Auburn. Tennessee must beat Missouri today in order to go to Hoover. My gut tells me that whomever wins betwen us and Georgia today will be a National Seed. It would be hard to make Arkansas a National Seed without a road series win, a 4-11 record on the road in the SEC, losing to Florida, Ole Miss, Georgia, and being swept Mississippi State. To many other good teams will be more deserving. We should still host a Regional, but will have to travel for the Super's. BUT, a win today could change everything.

Wrong on the national seed. I'll trust experts over you
If your watching the so called experts on The SEC Network, they have a vested interest in saying that. Look at the facts that I listed before and include the facts that we have defensive problems at first base, have major problems getting a clutch hit when bases are loaded, and a couple of key players that are not 100% healthy right now. Unless we beat Georgia today, I don't see us being a National seed. I hope I am wrong, but we will see. Go Hogs!!!

No I'm listening to literally every bracketologist, including Kendall rogers and Aaron Fitt from D1 - the leading experts in college baseball
Nothing for the 1st
Ramage to the mound
Typical hog fashion.
Why on Earth send the runner at the end of the game? That was not deep enough to tag at all. It wasn't even that good of a throw and it took the catcher a split second to gather the ball AND he still was tagged out easily. Had the throw been right on he would have been out by an insane amount.

End of the 6th in Tuscaloosa, Ole Miss leads Alabama 7-6
If Bama comes back, the Hogs win the West outright.
Ole Miss plates 3 in the 8th to take a 10-6 lead in Tuscaloosa.
If Ole Miss wins are we the 4 seed in Hoover?? If so that seed stinks cause you get stuck in that late game that usually does not end until after midnight in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament.

No doubt! They have really not played well since their series at Mississippi State last weekend where they were swept. Heard someone say they may not be the over all top seed when the field of 64 is released Monday.

Yes.
The 16 host sites will be announced tomorrow night around 7 or 7:30 I believe on NCAA.com, and the field of 64 selection show is Monday morning at 11 on one of the ESPN channels, not sure which one.
And Arkansas' quest for an SEC title that's not track, tennis, golf, and underwater basket weaving continues.......
Awesome... Thank you as always for the info.
Casey Martin named to the SEC all tournament team!!!
We will host, it's official!

Go Hogs
With the nature of this team, regionals seems a little more tricky than Supers if we can get to Supers. I like our chances at home in Supers just needing 2 of 3 at a place we pretty much don't lose at home even if against a really quality opponent. Regionals is a little weird if you drop that 2nd game cause that means 3 in row is needed after that. Regionals always throws out some weird results here and there between the 16 sites every year.... All that said, I think like the rest of you guys I see us cruising just fine here.

+1
I worry a bit about Southern Miss because they have a really good ace pitcher in Nick Sanlin who has an era under 2.
Luckily, he's going to have to throw Friday night against DBU.
I'm really glad they didn't send Tennessee Tech to Fayetteville, they lead the nation in home runs with over 100
Not saying we couldn't beat them, but to me, that is the most dangerous 2 seed in the entire field, and they could go to Oxford and give Ole Miss a run for their money.

Isn't it looking as if we are going to play South Carolina in the supers? The way this bracket is set up it may be an all SEC affair for us the way out from here. I am kind of bummed it has turned out this way. Especially, I wanted East Carolina or UNC Wilmington to come through that regional and us play them in the Supers. I think one of those two teams would have been a little shell shocked coming into Baum for the first time. If we play South Carolina they have already been here this season and won 1 game so familiarity will help them tremendously for the circumstances if that is the case of playing them. That said, we are just a better team overall than South Carolina and playing at our place so I think we are all feeling good about things.

Yes, I hate how they set the bracket up that way! I agree with you, I would rather play UNC Wilmington instead of South Carolina.
South Carolina just won the Greenville North Carolina regional, so we'll play the Gamecocks in the super regional.

Did anyone else notice how they're making sure it will be a limited amount of SEC teams advancing to Omaha?? Three super regional series feature SEC matchups. I guess they normally set the bracket up this way not knowing how it's gonna play out. Geographically, some different matchups would have been more interesting like Tenn Tech vs Vandy or SC vs NC. Well I'm rooting for the hogs to be one of the three to move on!

Who knows really though
Yes, they set up the bracket that way on purpose expecting two of the top-seeded SEC teams to get knocked out in the regional ::)
It's not current Razorback news, but did any of you see where former Hog, Jalen Beeks is making his MLB debut for the Red Sox on the mound tomorrow against Detroit on ESPN at 6pm at Fenway. He is a local Prairie Grove graduate as well. I know that little town is proud of him. If he can control those butterflies that will be there making his debut at Fenway it should be a good showing how well he started in AAA this spring. The former Hogs are plugging along in the MLB.

It's not that everyone was down on them...just some know how to suppress their emotions better than others. While Arkansas is a baseball school and a national power(something to be proud of)...we have seen this same song and dance before. Tremendous uplift that usually turns to tremendous defeat.
With that said, the hogs have as good as shot as anyone to win the title this year.

They finally quit losing so many close games the latter part the season which is what seemed like was happening early on and kept biting us before they gelled as a collective unit. I swear the first part of the year if the game was tight it felt like we lost most of those affairs... And the errors & mistakes quit coming with the same flow that were also biting them early on. That seemed to free up the team all around when all that was cleaned up the confidence finally seemed to come out after that..... That really turned the season around when all that change happened cause honestly we would not have reached this far had that switch not been turned. The first half of the year was not a top 5 team we watched or even quite a top 10 team. Recently, you have seen a team that is top 2 or 3 for sure in this form.

The first half of the year was not a top 5 team we watched or even quite a top 10 team. Recently, you have seen a team that is top 2 or 3 for sure in this form.
Well said bb! No room for those old mistakes now. If we play clean ball we are dangerous match up for anyone.
I think one could argue us and Oregon State are playing better than anyone lately out of the 8 teams there.... Oregon State is rolling right now and seem to be playing with a chip after their debacle last year. Our team is peaking just at the right time.
Granted we get a week off, but our pitching staff should be well rested and ready to roll!
I was one of the "typical hogs" posters.but i also said if we were lucky enough to get a national seed, we would more than likely make it to omaha. I think we have a great shot at it. Im not gonna hold my breath but i think we can get it done. Will we? Depends on which hogs make the trip to Omaha. Go Hogs!!
Well said fellas. This CWS is loaded with very good teams that are playing their best baseball including the hogs. I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple games go extra innings. Also, we've faced and defeated some of these teams which is a plus heading in.

Yes, we're a combined 5-2 against the other teams on our side, which I agree, is certainly a plus.

I don't see this team losing twice.

Now we can all root for Texas Tech over Florida cause the Red Raiders sure aren't beating us twice with what they have shown us this year.... Florida at least has what I would say is a tiny chance to pull off the double against us even though that is unlikely. I think we would pummel Texas Tech again in the first game with the way its looking. I think we are all seeing it that way too.
Heck of a start for Isaiah.

I've seen us blow some big games and I have always been a nervous wreck about a Razorback team in a big game. But this one....there is this sense of calmness about it that I've never felt about Razorback athletics.
There is weather in Omaha. Rekon theres a chance it may get bumped? That would tickle the heck out of coach casey. Give his bullpen a little more rest.
I certainly hope that we can get it played tonight! Don't need to give them the extra rest!
Apparently it has been decreed by the Little Rock District Commander that Beaver Lake will be called "OmaHog Lake" until the College World Series is over.

One more win.
We're so close that I can taste it! WPS!!!

Seven walks, two hit by pitch (I think) and a infield error with the bases load didn't hurt.

I never saw the number, but can't leave as many on base (and especially in scoring position) as it seemed like they did and expect to win a series against a team the caliber of OSU.
GREAT pitching and defense last night (the first baseman's catch needs to be on a media guide cover next year). Need to get the bats going to finish the job though.
The bats will be hot tonight!!
Not sure it has sunk in that we may win a national title tonight.
Not liking the way this is going right now.
Let's go Hogs!
All they had to do was get out of the right fielders way.
Momentum has shifted. Hogs are deflated. I'm not feeling good about this now.
I'm so speechless right now...
Gut punch
How do you spell choke? Easy routine pop fly and we are national champs. What the heck! If OSU wins tomorrow they can for sure thank that one play because if made Arkansas is celebrating a national title right now. So is it the right fielders ball, or second base or first base? I heard the announcer say Shaddy called it but it looked like a play right field can make coming into the ball. Man what a bummer. I'm not sure I can muster up the desire to watch tomorrow's game. Too many baserunners left on base and not a lot of solid hitting. How many strike outs in the last two nights?
I watched Channel 4 after the game and they couldn't hardly do the live report after the game for OSU people yelling and cheering......and deservedly so. I'll bet a six pack that were already beat tomorrow night.

I dont really know what to think. At that moment, for osu the title was lost and for us we had our first. Then the unimaginable. 3 guys within 2 feet of the pop foul that would seal your dream only to let it hit the ground. I dont know if they will fight like champions or hang their heads and feel sorry for themselves. I feel like we are lucky to have won the first and to have had that chance to win the second considering how we have swung the bats in this series. With that being said, campbell is going to do his thing even better than he did against the gators. Amd our bats will finally show up. The title is still ours guys. Dont give up on them now. They are Razorbacks!!! Go Hogs!!!

Exactly!
I believe as a university in all the major sports we are cursed. 1994 National Champs in basketball nothing since. 2006 SEC championship game was dominating Florida to the point Meyer used all his timeouts in the first quarter lol. Some how we lost that because of a bone head decision by fisher. Now this 3 guys around the ball and not one can catch it? I agree with the guy in the above post who bet a 6 pack we are already beat tonight.history is not on our side hope I'm wrong and we come out and destroy them.

I hope you are correct but to be honest we have defied the odds getting there and in winning game one of the championship series. Hogs fought hard to stay in the game and to be leading with 1 out left in the game. They managed to make great plays to stay ahead despite not hitting the ball very well in either game. I can't believe the number of K's the hogs have taken. It's as if they expect some divine intervention. The game is still winnable because we will line up and play it but frankly we allowed Oregon to take the momentum last night and they have hit the ball better than the Hogs. What we have to do to win. Continue to make great plays on defense to keep Oregon from getting too many runs, swing our bats and attack their pitching like we intend to score instead of waiting for someone else to get it down, great pitching attacking their batters, and finally communication in the field and no stupid game changing mistakes. We were one out away, a couple of feet from a national title with three players there, all capable of making a catch on the pop foul. Take charge, even pee wees know to call the ball. If the Diamond Hogs read this, pull yourselves together, demand excellence from each other tonight and go play aggressive baseball. Your fate is in your own hands again tonight.
The wind is still out of me after getting kicked in the gut last night.
I watched the play and remember thinking, "just don't screw this up" then, oh, no!!!!. At that point I felt Oregon would win that one. In fact we still had to just get the out on the batter, and that didn't happen. They had seen Gronin, two nights in a row, and he was throwing too many pitches to each batter, they had him timed up. It's a loss on all the Hogs, they haven't hit well and to be frank the tying run is on third after an easy passed ball by the catcher. Poor hitting and so on. But the clincher was the pop fly. A gift to the Beavers from the Hogs.

I'm feeling better this morning. A friend of mine said that OSU is out of pitchers and we've still got Campbell with nearly a week's rest. We haven't hit it well......tonight's the night! We all knew Arkansas had to face some adversity in Omaha and last night was it. OSU can't feel good about a gift win from the baseball gods. They know Arkansas is gonna bat their tired pitchers out of the park. I say it's gonna be on cruise control by the 7th. Reindl comes in to relieve and redeems himself from his "not so auspicious" outing yesterday. Hogs win 8-2.
Lost Forty anyone?
I'm not going to say we won't win if this doesn't happen, but I think if we get a first inning run the game is ours. It's still going to be a HUGE Arkansas crowd tonight - get them into the game early!
Everyone will have to step up for a flawless game tonight for us to pull it out. That means bullpen and our bats have to be in full force. Runners cannot be left on base like the first two games. Put that game behind you and play ball.

Speaking of. There was a caption of the national titles we had placed on ESPN last night. They listed all 44 titles minus 1964. Which I thought was funny. Lol.
After we win tonight, last night's blunder will be forgotten. Does anybody remember how many 3 pointers that Scottie Thurman missed vs Duke back in 1994? I sure don't, but I'll always remember that rainbow that he did make!
OSU will be overconfident and our Hogs should be hacked at themselves for not sealing the deal last night and they'll get the bats going like we did vs. Texas & Texas Tech. I still say Arkansas wins tonight 8-2. Campbell, Reindl, and Loseke get it done!!!!

An 8-2 win? Might happen but I would be shocked by a win that big. I'd love it because I wouldn't be sweating it out like last night but I doubt it. We may win it, hope so, but it will be a battle unless a totally different Arkansas team shows tonight. Oh and the 1964 title. Is that the football title after the fact? They voted national champs prior to the bowl games and we were not it. Personally I don't count it because the process at the time didn't name us the National Champs.
I surely count it

I did. I tried all day to convince myself that we would come out hot, but it's not looking too good unless we're saving our magic until the 9th like they did.
Looking pretty weak right now.
I hate sounding like a downer. Because I love the Hogs.
But after watching game 1, I knew Oregon state had the next two won.
4-1 and either 3 of or all of our runs were because of the Beavers first pitcher who played awful. Had they played the other guy, we don't win that game. We played good enough to keep them from catching up which is good, but we just haven't been able to do anything with these other pitchers.
I just hope we can keep them from scoring more and making it an embarrassment instead of just a beating.
On the bright side, we're closer to football season.
Depressing. But typical it seems
Hate it but the Hogs had a good year. But it is Depressing
Well it's sad. Instead of trying to come up with why, which is obvious, we should be celebrating in Fayetteville in Baum with the national champions. But, no we are not because we cannot catch a pop foul. It was a screw up but boy oh boy what a screw up. You have the national title in your hands, glove, and nobody takes control. A major foul-up by three players. I'd hate to live with knowing that I should have played on the national champion team but for one missed play. As someone said, it seems to be the way of Arkansas athletics. I didn't see much fire in them tonight and certainly no sticks. They looked scared and afraid all night. Yes I'm hacked because like so many you try to believe it will happen and then we blow it. As for football season coming up, well don't get to excited about whats about to happen this coming season or you will be feeling let down again. We are several years away at least.
It really stings now, but when we look back, what an amazing season! We will win it all under Van Horn way sooner than later! I really believe that!

Yup. Seen this storyline too many times.....
Absolutely. I tried my best to be optimistic, but i felt the whole series was lost at that moment. Not because i thought we would play bad but exactly the opposite. That we would play the same. I dont think for one second that it had much bearing on our play today. We actually played exactly the same game we have played the 2 before. The difference was they didnt make the error or walk batters to give us easy runs. We had chances to make them pay the whole series but florida took our bats when they headed home. Had we made them pay in the 3rd inning, they probably would have pulled Abel and who knows what may have happened. At the end of the day, im proud to be an arkansan and proud to be a Hog fan. At the moment, a depressed hog fan. But there are 249 other teams that would trade places with us. As depressed and frustrated as all of us feel isnt a drop in the bucket compared to the way those young men and coaches feel. They wear that "A" with pride and we have to have their backs. They work their tales off to make all of us proud. This is the hardest national title on the planet to win. We could have had it, but before this series even started OSU was the team to beat. They were the best team and took the opportunity we gave them and ran with it. Hats off to Abel. That was unbelievable.
It will be a long time before we see another performance like Able had tonight! That was history, probably would not have happened if we don't let him off the hook with the bases loaded.
By the way we had the bases loaded I think 4 times for no runs and struck out 38 times, hit in the 150's for a team in this series. That stands out! IMO
0 for 7 with loaded bases.

That was my worry from the first weekend. You can't win if you can't score. I wish they would have saved some of those hits for the last week. You're not going to beat many teams batting below .150. I don't understand how the comment confused you to start with.
Well lots of disappointed fans, lots of disappointed players and coaches. As for winning it under Van Horn, maybe it will happen but as everyone knows getting there is really hard to do.This will forever be the National Title we had until we don't catch the ball, just let it drop. I'm sure the 3 players will never forget, but hopefully they will put it into perspective somehow. Shame it didn't work out, so so close. It was ours.
At the end of the day, its just a game. Created for entertainment. In the words of Maximus Decimus Meridius........ "Are you not entertained!!?"

This is a good start. The UA's policy of not playing in-state schools is way outdated and needs to be changed. It made sense back when we were in the Southwest Conference, when Texas ruled the league. It makes zero sense now. The fact that only 63,000 to show up in the opening of an expanded 76,000 stadium further validates it.

44,003 in attendance actually. According to the FOIA. They were talking about it on the buzz earlier this week.
