Book by Thomas Cochran about small town high school footbal.  From some of the websites, Cochran is currently an Arkansas resident.

I'm only a few chapters in, but so far it's a good read.  It's told from the perspective of a two-way lineman preparing for a state championship against a conference rival.  The game would be a rematch and a chance for the lineman to make up for a mistake made in game one.
