Harrison Golden Goblins and Lady Goblins went to the playoffs last season and both are bringing back seasoned athletes to the court this season.

The Lady Goblins Head coach, Doug Young is very pleased to have a solid group of players back from last year and is excited about their depth with a talented sophomore group coming in.  He stated, "We are more athletic and have more speed,  We have a lot of depth and that will give us some options."

Here is a copy/paste from the local paper on the Harrison Golden Goblins/Branson MO Pirates game...

BRANSON, Mo. — The game was close...for 2 minutes.
After that, the Harrison Goblins blew the doors off their cross-state rivals, the Branson Pirates.
Harrison brought home a 61-42 win over the Pirates in what was a dominating performance for the Goblins.
It should come as no surprise that the Goblin defense was the catalyst to the rout.
Tanner Curry opened the game with a triple from the left corner to give Harrison a lead that wouldn't last long.
The Pirates responded with a three of their own, but Braeden Boren hit a layup to put the Gobs back on top.
After a basket from Branson to even the game at 5-5, Harrison went on a 13-0 run, led by the defense.
Jackson Marseilles knocked down a free throw before Boren came up with back-to-back steals leading to layups.
Curry hit Marseilles under the basket for an easy lay in and Curry then knocked down a pair of charity tosses to make it 14-5.
The first double-digit lead for Harrison came on a play that erupted the entire gym.
A missed layup by the Goblins in traffic bounced of the rims, but senior standout Trevor Atwell cut through the lane to rise about the defense and put a two-handed slam down for a 16-5 lead.
Just 30 seconds later, Atwell got his second dunk of the night after being left wide open under the basket to cap the run at 18-5.
Branson hit back-to-back 3s, but Harrison would score the final eight points of the quarter.
Atwell had an offensive putback before Nathan Jenkins added a triple from the right corner with 43 seconds left.
The Goblins had the ball for one last possession and time winding down in the quarter when Boren got off an off-balanced 3 from the left wing that found nothing but net as the buzzer sounded.
Harrison led, 26-11.
Branson started the second quarter with a bucket and back-to-back 3s to cut the lead to eight points, but Harrison began to roll, and it was once again aided by the Goblin defense.
Curry scored on a driving layup before the Goblins took back-to-back charges on the defensive end of the floor. Jenkins took the first charge before Atwell set up for the second.
The Gobs got another score from Curry in the paint before Jenkins came up with a steal and fed Boren for a layup.
Marseilles drained a 3-pointer to move the Harrison lead to 35-18 and the Goblin defense again forced a turnover as Curry took a charge, the third charge taken in the quarter for Harrison.
After a jumper from Marseilles and a layup for Skyler Young off a pass from Jenkins, Harrison took a 39-19 lead into the half.
It was all Harrison in the third quarter.
A driving layup from Curry ended with an and-one play as he sank the foul shot. Just 15 seconds later, the Goblins got another steal and Boren left a lob off the backboard to Atwell who finished with a flush.
Harrison would increase its lead to 58-29 at the conclusion of the third quarter.
Marseilles finished with a team-leading 16 points for the Goblins. Boren added 13, Curry 10, Atwell eight, Jenkins six, Young five and Colton Youngblood three.
"Coach Todd Richardson takes care of our defense and does a great job," Harrison head coach David Stahler said following the win. "He kind of turned up the pressure a bit. Our two guards can dictate the tempo of the game, Tanner and Braeden, and they did. Their pressure was great. They played games with their guards. They double teamed and then rotate and then jump passing lanes and trapped, and that set the tone for the rest of the game."
Stahler turned his attention to not only what the team did well on the night, but also a habit the team is prone to falling into he would like to see fixed.
"I think our guard play is really good," he started. "And, really, our front line play is really good. The thing I'm pleased with after this game, you have to be pleased with the defense. I felt like in the second and third quarters, they were in their zone, and I feel like a lot of people are going to play a zone, and we expect them to. In the second and third quarters we attacked the middle a lot more.
"We have a problem when we're too 3 oriented," he remarked on the Gobs habit to rely on the longball at times. "We pass the ball around the perimeter and we get 3s and take a lot of 3s. We've been taking a lot of 3s without getting the ball in the lane. We had a big, early lead and let them back into it a littlle bit because of our shot selection. We don't need to get complacent in our execution. In the second and third quarters we were able to probe the zone a little bit better. I think that's the biggest concern is to get consistent."
One of the things that was evident during the lopsided win for the Goblins is the amount of fun this team has on the court. After playing together for so long, this Goblin team has gelled and it shows with their play.
"The game's got to be fun and they make it fun," Stahler said. "This is a group that grew up playing together and the younger kids are beginning to mix in and catch on to what we're doing. So, it's kind of a team thing. We have good leadership. The younger players are following and they work extremely hard every day in practice. When you're playing well and playing together, it makes it fun. I think that's it. They enjoy playing together and they trust each other so much. They enjoy it."

The Harrison Lady Goblins didn't find much of a fight on Tuesday night.
Hosting Hillcrest of Springfield, Mo., the Lady Goblins led from start to finish on their way to a 65-41 victory.
The first basket of the game went to Maddie Wyatt on an offensive putback and the Lady Goblins would only pull away from there.
After a Hillcrest free throw, Wyatt added two more scores with McKenzie Glenn scoring on a layup for an 8-1 advantage.
Brylie Parker knocked down a jump shot and later converted a three-point play and ended the first quarter with a 3 from the left wing to give Harrison a 16-8 lead.
Alicia Auman hit a triple to open the second quarter and Peri Knight scored as the Lady Goblin lead reached 13 points.
Glenn gave Harrison a 32-12 halftime lead on a steal and layup with just 8 seconds remaining in the half.
Briley Due led the offensive attack in the third quarter with six points.
She scored Harrison's first points of the frame in the paint before later driving the baseline for a layup.
Due then assisted on the final basket of the third period when she found Glenn for a layup, setting the score at 51-23 as the teams headed for the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Claire Doshier went to work in the fourth quarter as she racked up seven points in the frame while Tyona Whitehorse added three.
Hillcrest outscored Harrison, 18-14, in the fourth, but the Lady Goblin lead never fell below 20 points.
Glenn put up 14 points for the Lady Goblins. Parker added 12, Wyatt 10, Doshier seven, Due six, Auman five, Peri Knight four, Whitehorse three and Lane Horn and Taryn Robinson two apiece.
Following the win, Harrison head coach Doug Young had plenty of positives to point out.
"Well, it was a good start," he stated. "Obviously, there are some points that need to be addressed. We've got to do a lot better job blocking out, especially on free throws. I thought our transition looked good. I thought we played hard. I liked our defense. It's a starting point. We'll break the film down where we can really see what's going on. But, you've always got to be happy with a win. It's a good start going into the Willard, Mo. tournament. We're going to learn a lot about ourselves this week. It's a good starting point to see where we're at."
The Lady Goblins had no film on Hillcrest or much knowledge of the team at all coming into the game. According to Young, that wasn't such a bad thing.
"Really, in the first couple of games, you kind of need to worry about yourself right now rather than trying to scheme somebody else. You really don't know where you're at either," he said. "That's why we have non-conference. You find that starting point to see some things you've got to work on and fix. You get to look at some players. We got everybody in and they got some good minutes in. I was really pleased. We saw some good things."
Of those good things, the leadership of his four seniors, Glenn, Due, Wyatt and Auman, has been one of the biggest assets of the team early in the season.
"Those four seniors, this is their year," Young said. "They're going to be the ones to take us to where we're going. They're doing a good job of communicating, helping the young ones get in the right spot. Our matchup isn't real easy to play. Sometimes, I wonder if we even know where we're going. But, we always figure it out. We've done it for two years and they know it well. They've done a real good job of helping the younger players getting to the right spots, encouraging them and getting them the ball. We had a lot of transition baskets tonight where they got the ball to the younger kids who got a good shot. It helps their confidence. We're excited we've got them on our team."
The Lady Goblins will be back in action today as they begin play in the Willard tournament at 4 p.m.

Due started the third period with a free throw, but the Lady Falcons scored six straight points.
Once again, Harrison battled back. McKenzie Glenn drained a trey and Alicia Auman scored to make it a 40-30 affair.
Two more buckets off of offensive putbacks tilted the lead to 14 for the Lady Falcons. Parker ended a mini Olatha South run and with 2:55, Auman completed a three-point play to pull Harrison within, 46-35.
That was as close as the Lady Goblins could get the rest of the way.
In the final period, the Lady Falcons opened up a 19 point lead before settling for the win.
Due led Harrison with 16 points. Parker added 13, Auman eight, Glenn seven, Maddie Wyatt four, Lane Horn two and Knight one.

Monday 12-12 @ Branson

Branson MO 76

BRANSON, Mo. — It just wasn't the Harrison Lady Goblins' night on Monday.
The Branson Lady Pirates shot free throws before the game started and kept right on shooting them until the final buzzer.
The Lady Pirates hit two free throws before the game began for a 2-0 lead and then shot another 41 foul shots on their way to a 76-66 win over the Lady Goblins.
Harrison was given a technical foul before a single second ran off the clock. Turns out, the Lady Goblins entered the gym incorrectly.
"We went under their basket on our way to the court," Harrison head coach Doug Young said following the game. "I've never heard of it. I thought they were kidding at first. That's how ridiculous it sounded to me. He came over and said, 'I hate to do this,' and I thought he was joking. It took me a little while to realize that he was serious. I should've known right then it was fixing to be one of those nights."

And it was one of those nights.
The Lady Goblins were whistled for 28 fouls in the game, leading to 39 free throw attempts from Branson, excluding technical fouls.
Branson knocked down both technical foul shots before taking possession to start the game. Just 18 seconds into the game, Harrison was whistled for a foul, allowing Branson to hit another free throw for a 3-0 lead.
Alicia Auman erased Branson's lead with a single shot from the left wing to tie the game.
However, the Lady Pirates rattled off the next 15 points, only two of those coming from the line.
As Harrison's offense went cold, Branson pulled out to an 18-3 lead.
Brylie Parker ended the Lady Goblin scoring drought with a jumper before Maddie Wyatt connected on a free throw.
Branson would get the final three points of the first quarter for a 21-6 lead.
The Lady Goblins began to knock down some shots in the second period.
Parker hit a pair of 3s while Wyatt added two baskets and a pair of free throws.
Harrison put 18 points on the board in the second quarter, but still trailed, 39-24, at the half.
The Lady Goblins began to cut into the Branson lead during the third quarter.
Parker hit a jump shot at the 1:20 mark to make it a 50-40 game.
She then answered two points from Branson with another jumper to again make it a 10-point game.
Branson would get the last bucket of the third to hold a 54-42 advantage.
Parker hit a free throw and added a layup at the 7:03 mark to cut Harrison's deficit to single digits for the first time since the first quarter at 54-45.
That was as close as the Lady Goblins would get.
Branson scored an 13-1 run to extend its lead to 67-46 with 5 minutes remaining.
The Harrison girls didn't go away as Auman scored nine points over the next 2 minutes of play. Claire Doshier added a basket as the Lady Goblins cut the deficit to 12 points.
Branson would salt the game away despite four points late from Peri Knight and a Doshier 3 in the final minutes of play.
"I was real proud of the way we responded," Young stated. "They showed a lot of character and a lot of class. I'm really proud of the way they responded to the adversity we faced. They probably handled it a lot better than I did."
Harrison's foul trouble forced some younger players into big minutes during the contest.
"We got a lot of good minutes for some young ones," Young said of his team. "They really stepped up and did well. I'm really proud of them because they fought hard. I just can't say enough about how they responded. We didn't shoot it well at all. If we shoot well and we play that hard, you'd better look out because we could be pretty good."
Young pointed out the play of Knight as she came up with several key steals and assists in the second half.
"She is our best help defender and a tremendous passer for a post player," he said. "She reads things so well on the back of the press and you saw it tonight. She made some phenomenal plays in the press and then made passes on the offensive end to open people. I was proud of her."
Auman led Harrison's offense with 19 points. Parker added 17, Briley Due, Doshier and Wyatt seven apiece, Knight six and McKenzie Glenn three.
Harrison is back in action on Friday night as both the senior boys and senior girls travel to Mountain Home. Games will begin at 4:30 p.m. with jayvee contests followed by the varsity games.

Through one quarter of play, Harrison held a 10-5 lead.
However, the Lady Goblins went cold in the second quarter as they were shutout in the frame.
Mountain Home moved ahead to a 17-10 lead at the half.
McKenzie Glenn ended the Harrison scoring drought early in the third quarter, but that would be the only score of the period for Harrison.
Mountain Home built a 21-12 lead in a low-scoring game.
In the final quarter, the Lady Goblins finally began to make a run.
Maddie Wyatt sank two free throws before Due converted a three-point play.
Brylie Parker made a basket to pull Harrison within four points at 30-26 with 2:18 to play.

NIXA, Mo. — Free throw shooting wins or loses basketball games.
Tuesday night at Nixa, Mo., it lost a basketball game for the Harrison Goblins.
Harrison finished the night hitting 42.8 percent of its free throw attempts as the Goblins were on the shortend of a 69-67 score against Nixa.
The Goblins trailed the entire night until a 6-0 run gave them a lead with 1:55 left in the game.
Trailing, 64-59, Trevor Atwell started the run with a bucket that was followed by a Skyler Young offensive putback a minute later.
Jackson Marseilles gave the Goblins a 65-64 lead with 1:55 left.
However, things slowed down for the Goblins offensively. At the 1:15 mark, Nixa tied the basketball game at 65 with a free throw.
After a Goblin unforced turnover, the Eagles scored on a left-handed layup to take a two-point lead with 29.1 left.
Harrison missed on its next possession and fouled Nixa. The Eagles left the door open by only making one charity toss with 14.1 left.
Young was able to score inside with 5.0 seconds left to pull the visitors within a single point at 68-67.
A quick foul sent the Eagles back to the free throw line. They missed their first attempt, but made the second to take a 69-67 lead.
With 3.4 seconds left and Goblin point guard Tanner Curry on the bench because of fouls, the Goblins were still able to go the length of the court with a pass, but Harrison's shot bounced on the rim before falling off.
Harrison's outside defense struggled in the first half against a hot-shooting Eagle team. Nixa knocked down five treys in the opening frame and added three more in the second period.
Nixa moved out to a 25-15 lead after the first period after having a 13-2 start to the contest.
Despite two Harrison runs in the second quarter, the halftime score was still a 10-point deficit for the Goblins at 42-32.
With 4:07 left in the third period, the Goblins began to make things interesting.
Trailing, 51-40, the squad reeled off eight straight points. Marseilles started the run with a bucket that was followed by a Young shot. Curry hit a basket at the 2:55 mark and Braeden Boren hit a pair of free throws to make it a one-possession game at 51-48.
The Goblins pulled within a point as Marseilles scored five straight points for the Goblins.
Nixa took a 56-53 lead after three periods.
Leading Harrison in scoring was Curry with 17 points. Atwell added 16, Young 14, Marseilles 11, Boren six and Nathan Jenkins three.

Junior Boys
Nixa pulled away from Harrison in the closing minutes to post a 40-32 win over the Junior Goblins.
Harrison had chances to tie the game late in the fourth period, but their shots wouldn't fall
"We missed too many layups and didn't get key defensive stops," said Junior Goblin coach Josh Manes. "When we played team basketball and ran our offense, we got a lot of good looks but just failed to capitalize. It's hard to beat good teams when you don't make the easy ones."
Nixa eased out to a 13-12 lead after the first period, and it expanded that lead to 24-19 at intermission.
Harrison cut a point off the deficit in the third period.
Leading Harrison in scoring was Ben Elliott with 15 points. Rilee Jones added right, Gabe Huskey four, Colten Shaver and Josh McCormick two each and Cameron Miller one.

Agreed, Ponca, if I was Harrison, I wouldn't want a team that's been to 3 state finals and 2 state semifinals, and 2 state championships versus Harrison's 1 semifinals appearance. Alma has no chance.

Yeah I watched that PA game online. It was one of the best high school games I've seen. Harrison is senior laden with nice support surrounding them and should make a lot of noise in the post season this year.

What does he bring that will make such a big impact? Especially with a team that has meshed in a starting lineup like this.

he played with them growing up. just has to learn Harrison system.

for those playing at home. Wynn played at Harrison till Jr High. Transferred to Valley Springs. Was their main guy. Transferred back. Harrison needed depth. Depth was issue in their losses. He solves that. Game on.

Sucks for Valley Springs.

Good for them. How is he immediately eligible to play if he played for another school? Or did he sit out last semester and then move in?

GOBS defense held the Redbird's main shooter to 15 points and had Farmington down by 18 points at one point.  The GOBS had 7 different athletes sharing the score with Curry getting the most points at 21.

Lady Goblins revenge game

The Lady Goblins only loss so far in CCD-1 play was to the Lady Panthers at Clarksville.  That ended tonight after Clarksville gained a lead early in the first period, then the Harrison Ladies dug in their spurs and never gave up the pressure on the Lady Panthers.  Though the Lady Goblins did struggle once again at the FT line, they played very aggressive defense and shot a great offense.

Golden Goblins sealing the CCD-1 Championship
Harrison Golden Goblins 73

The game was a back and forth fast paced game with Harrison 22, Clarksville 18 in the 1st period and Harrison 37, Clarksville 35 at half.  The Panther's Hernandez scored 16 pts in the 1st half.  Then to start the 2nd half, the Goblins took off the saddles and rode the Panthers bareback for the win.  By the end of the 3rd period, Harrison gained 20 points while only giving up 4 points to Clarksville making the score 57-39.  Harrison started putting in the bench around the 2:55 mark left in game.  Harrison had 9 players scoring to make the final 73-51.  Yeee Hawww!!
