For reference, the split in the SAU total and average shows it with and without the neutral site (El Dorado) game vs OBU, correct?

The Battle of the Ravine is obviously an outlier, but I'll note that the 2nd and 3rd best-attended games were both homecoming games, as is OBU's best non-BOTR attendance (Harding).  Interestingly, many teams best-attended game is not homecoming but a local rivalry; NWOSU v SWOSU, SEOSU v ECU, and SNU v OKBU all fit that pattern.

Given the size of the school and that they just moved up from NAIA, OKBU's attendance surprises me.  A lot of people at the HSU @ OKBU game especially.

On the other hand, Harding's attendance is surprisingly low, though it probably hurts that they didn't host either of their major rivals (OBU and ATU) this year.  They're kind of the inverse of Ouachita, whose attendance is boosted by hosting this year's BOTR and their #2 rival Harding. (Without BOTR, OBU's average drops from 3725 to 2496).

Correct. It might not be a bad idea to look at past attendance in El Do.

Credit to the Bison fanbase--not only was every game at Norris Field over official capacity (2900), but the attendance kept trending upward in the face of the season's diminishing prospects. It might be worth a trip to Shawnee just to see it firsthand.

Speaking of capacity, OK Baptist may the only school with a proper argument for expansion. Outside of their games, there were only three games with attendance above capacity at their respective venues. Incidentally, the BOTR would've been over capacity at Henderson, as well, albeit barely.

As for low attendance, it's SWO that caught my eye. Despite earning what amounts to the GAC's 2nd seed, their average attendance was 3rd lowest, ahead of only NWO and SNU. Keep in mind, the Bulldogs play in the conference's 2nd-largest stadium.

Grond

Very good info. You are right about the SAU/OBU game; it was at El Dorado.

HSU led in attendance w/o the BOTR.

They're behind SAU unless you don't count the El Dorado game.  Since it's not really an outlier compared to the rest of SAU's home games, I don't really see a reason not to count it.
