Yes they did.  4A has been a lot tougher on them than 5A seemed to be.

When I was attending a church in Monticello at the time of reclassification to 4a, I had a gentlemen tell me that Monticello would own 8-4a and the 4a because competition would not be as good as the 5a or 5a southeast.

Its been a good rivalry. With the exception of 1962, we've played Monticello every year since at least 1944. They beat us 14-6 that year. Monticello had the advantage in the 50s, then we dominated in the early 60s. We beat them mostly in the 70s and early 80s. We lost 4 of 5 to them from 85-89, then won three straight in the early 90s before they went on their longest winning streak. We only beat them once from 93-00.

The trend will continue with warren for years to come and also be very hard on the goats as long as they are in 4a.  4a schools tend to commit to certain sports.  In 8aaaa Warren, Star City, Hamburg are football first schools.  Crossett has stressed Track for decades.  Dumas loves that Bball.  Dollarway has been strong in football and basketball.  DeWitt is DeWitt.  The Billies are a little of all sports and that won't cut it in 4a.  They fit in in 5a with other schools that think the same. 
Bo's bunch will lift, run, and 7on7 2 hours before the gym door opens. 

No matter what you think it's right or wrong.  It works.   All the turf fields and jumbo trains won't change it.   To win year after year football must be KING.

More Hamburg now there youth summer leagues baseball/softball have won several state titles and some regional titles in softball..and there high school team under Youngblood in his first year went deep into the playoffs last year, there baseball/softball programs in certain ages is as good as you will see from one town, bright future for them right now.
