Who will win this one? I've got Alma by at least 14

sevenof400

Since this game is at Alma, and Alma has played much better competition leading into this game as opposed to Vilonia, I'd say you're being kind Airedale25.

AT

I think this game could be a bit closer if this was at Vilonia, but with it being at Alma, I'm seeing a 2-3 score win by the Airedales.

It won't be easy, I'm thinking Vilonia is going to fight for a playoff spot.

Very important we start conference 1-0 at home.

sevenof400

Looking at Vilonia's conference schedule:

2016-09-23   at Alma   2-9-0 (2-9-0)
2016-09-30   Maumelle   1-3-0 (0-2-0)
2016-10-07   at Harrison   9-5-0 (8-5-0)
2016-10-14   Farmington   2-0-0 (2-0-0)
2016-10-21   at Morrilton   5-8-0 (5-8-0)
2016-10-28   Clarksville   4-0-0 (4-0-0)
2016-11-03   at Greenbrier   7-8-0 (4-7-0)

The Eagles get no favors from the schedule maker this year.  The two easiest(?) games are home (Farmington and Clarksville) and all four road games are against opponents who (at this point) appear to be playing better than Vilonia.  The Eagles are going to have to find at least one road win to make the playoffs and while the best option (for now anyway) would appear to be at Harrison, if Vilonia does NOT beat Maumelle in week 2 where will they find the fourth conference win they will likely need?

I say that because the (conference) week 2 matchup hosting Maumelle may be a lot more crucial than one might expect at first glance.  An 0-2 start to conference would likely mean the end of any playoff hopes before the season gets really going.

I'm going to say defense continues to hold and the offense finally clicks...

Not that bold. If this game is close then we have all over rated Alma.

Coach Venny Slocombe

Here is how this plays out...

Alma - 45
Vilonia - 7

Vilonia scores once...RB runs through the end zone and Steve blows smoke in his face and Vilonia is done...Steve has that effect you know...

I think a shut out is a bit bold. Everyone has Alma winning by 3 or more TDs, which is most likely gonna happen. Everyone also has Vilonia scoring at least one TD. This Alma D is very physical. Last Friday, they did good keeping Greenwood from gaining a lot of huge plays. Usually a few times during a game, we have a screen pass go for 40+ yards and a TD. Didn't happen against Alma. Yes we did work our way through their D and down the field and scored 35 on them, but their D also played very well. So well that Vtown will have a very tough time finding the endzone.

I can agree future, I don't know about blanking them but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. I don't think this game is close at all , but there were many who had alma going 9-1 and that's not gonna happen now. I think Vilonia is too young and small. The team I saw at team camp was anyway.

The Future

I was one of them that said they'd go 9-1. But that was before I knew how much Springdale improved.
So 8-2 still ain't bad.

They probably won't boat race all their conference opponents like PA will. But Alma will own the West.

We shall see , maybe you are right. That's why they play the games.

Wait hold on! You mean we don't decide the outcomes of the games via our posts, opinions, and debates??
Well there goes my whole belief system.

;D

lol , well I don't know , maybe you do 😉

beach bum

The mighty Airedales snatch the Eagles from mid air and win by 4 TD's...

AT

I do think this Vilonia team will be more salty than fans give them credit for, but I do hope Alma is able to win and win comfortably.

nastynice

This game will get ugly early and often.

P.F.G.

Alma will take out 2 weeks of frustration on the eagles.

More I think about it I'm changing my mind on the score 48-10 Alma

It's hard to make a case for that large of a difference, but based on Vilonia's schedule to date, who knows?  I do think this game will provide the first (best) look at the changes for Vilonia this season.

It will be at first. Alma always starts out slow. Typically.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a 7 or 14 point lead at the half and then stretch it out in the second half...

Yes. More physical than last year.

Vilonia's the one who has to worry about the Veer.  Still got some in the system who can't get past the "Broken Wing" offense they were forced to run for years.  It takes time to get kids accustom to running something different and be good at it.

Very good point. This senior class has had 3 different head coaches, offensive coordinators and defensive coordinators. Plus, this is the 3rd offensive scheme. All of this just in the 3 years of high school ball.

Sickest half of football I've seen in years.
Alma looks like it hasn't practiced all week.

How much of that is a post Greenwood effect?  Did Alma come out of that game with a good number of injuries?

Birdsflyhigh

Or might just be Vtown little better than  what people think

Alma 28
Vilonia 3

Final

Go Postal

Harrison  7
Morrilton  48

Final.  Morrilton looked in top form tonight, Harrison didn't.  Unofficially, Devil Dogs QB Kennedy was 16-18 for 190 yards.  Duncan had 116 receiving yds.  Motown had 278 yards rushing.  They had 473 yards total offense and no turnovers. :o 8)

Warning to Alma, after watching the Greenwood/Alma game last week, the Devil Dogs play a lot like the Bulldogs do.  FYI ;)

Oh Alma must be that bad

Yeah that's it.
Take your loss and go home.

Honestly, Alma should've put up 49 points tonight.
Way too many penalties on both teams.

Sloppy sloppy sloppy.

I believe Alma had 3 holding calls on one drive inside the red zone and one TD called back.

Nonetheless, 1-0.

Next.
