Good man.  He was a friend of my dads and I actually visited him at his house in Charleston when he was governor.

From Fox Sports Radio 92.7 Camden's Facebook page:

Coach Jimmy "Red" Parker, 84, former coach at Bearden, Fordyce and multiple other college and high schools, passed away at 6:30 am this morning. He was 84 years old.

Parker, who just resigned from coaching at Haskell Harmony Grove in Benton, had been sick and his death was not unexpected, the superintendent at Harmony Grove was quoted as saying on Arkansas Online.

Parker's final game took place in the same spot where it all began- Fordyce. The Cardinals were defeated by Fordyce in the first round of the playoffs, and Parker, who had already announced his resignation, was honored with a key to the city and had several former players wish him well.

Sad, sad day for the music industry and those of my generation, although his music transcended generations.

My first concert to attend was an Eagles concert in Shreveport in 1976, just a couple of months before the release of Hotel California.  Joe Walsh was still a newbie with the band.  In 1994, I saw the group during the heck Freezes Over tour at the Pyramid in Memphis.  Each of their subsequent trips to Little Rock, I've had the pleasure to see them.  Really glad I went to see them last year at Verizon, little did I know it would be my last opportunity.

His first solo album, No Fun Aloud, got a lot of spins on my turntable.

Really going to miss the Eagles.  To me Frey and Henley defined the group (also love Walsh), there can be no replacements.
