No, a few years back, these guys invented this thing called the Internet. Then a few years later they made Google. It's really cool. You can get it on your phone too. If you would like, I will show you how to use it Friday.

I really dont know much about Salem. . i know they are supposed to be pretty good and they will be the home team so they have a few things going for them already.   I will say this. . .as any of the old hands on here that know me will say. . I'm a straight shooter and dont blow smoke up anyone's backside. . I am also quick to call JC out if i think they are a pretender and not a contender. . I have now seen JC play the last 3 weeks in a row and i will say this. . I'm impressed. .and it takes alot for that to happen. . cause i got spoiled watching JC from 03-06 and then living in West Monroe and watching the Rebs for 6 years. . I'm not saying JC is on West Monroe's level. .im just saying its hard to impress me. . JC has lots of speed and that defense is dang tough. . I'm also shocked at just how well JC passes the ball now. . .Not try'n to ruffel any feathers with the Salem faithfull. . Just saying I'm impressed with JC. . .I hope Salem has plenty of speed to stay with JC. . cause 1 or 2 mistakes and a game can get away from you quick cause JC is just that fast. . gonna have to play keep away and grind it out keeping JC's offense off the field. . Wish i could make it but I'm gonna stay home or watch some playoffs around here

JC will be the best team Salem has seen all year and playing a slow team prior to this game wont help. It will take almost 2 quarters for salem to adjust to their speed.

Wouldn't be trying to send those Dragon buses to Bigelow would you? ;D

Looks like it's almost going to be the Battle of 167.  That is if y'all were a little closer to Ash Flats.

How's the attendance been at Salem playoff games?  The Dragons need a big gate to help buy all that fuel for the buses.

A shame the teams can't meet halfway and use that stadium by the golf course in Little Rock. ;)

Salem has no chance w/o jj gray. You can't beat a team like jc with a backup rb.

Ill be pulling for Salem. I hope they can get it done. I just think JC is better. Salem can win but they are gonna hve to play a heck of a ballgame. I think the bye week slowed them a little against Bigelow but by the end they had pulled away.

I think Salem will give em a good go though. Ill be in the deer woods when this one is going on so someone keep it updated.

If Salem has some starters out due to injury and ejection then I'm sorry but you guys have absolutely now idea what ya'll are gonna be facing next Friday.  Salem has been playing good and if they had all their starter to play then I would say it would be a fairly close game, but you just can't match JC without all your guns...

This Salem D is very stingy and don't like NEVER MIND.(somebody will say I was mouthing Salem again) good luck to both teams and let's have us a good game and hope for no injuries.

JC will most likely leave early, stop somewhere on the way and get a quick practice session in and hit the road again. At least that is what they have done in the past on long trips.

91', no disrespect to Bearden, but JC has come together since the games with you guys and Rison. Early in the season, JC didn't have an identity offensively and it showed. They didn't practice the "bone" all summer and focused strictly on the spread. We weren't very consistent running or passing the ball. Also, turn overs and stupid penalties killed us early on. Luckily, our defense rose to the occasion, as always, and just shut people down. In the past five games JC has played some awesome football on both sides. This offense is really poppin' and the D has been just dominating. This bunch is as fun to watch as any Dragon team since the days of Byron Jones and Allen Turner and may even be more talented. ;)

Im not gonna argue that for sure.  Jc knows what it takes to get the job done.  But our bears have improved since our game at jc too.  Anyway we got two more games to focus on before that scenario becomes reality.

I understand Coach Carpenter has a connection to a Beebe coach who is allowing the use of their facilities to break up the trip and let the Dragons stretch their legs.

It's really nice country up here and most of the Salem people are great and you guys will be treated very respectful. There's not much to chose from to eat though. A sonic, dairy queen and a couple mom and pop places and that's it, if ya'll want something different, you might want to stop in batesville. Be safe and we'll see ya at the game.

Thought you might have been referring to La Tech.

I'm familiar with LC though.  JC had a QB on their '05 semi final team who is the head coach a Dewitt now.  He was on the LC baseball team.

And I've gotten stuck looping around the traffic circle in Alexandria back in my day.

Your son ever tried a pie from Lea's in Lecompte?

Awfully generous of you, but afraid my chance to watch the Dragon this Friday died with Bigelow's season.  I'll be working that day.

Enjoy the trip though.  Wouldn't be the first time Dragon fans found themselves riding to a high school football games while listening to the UA-LSU game on the radio.  Dang ain't playing or watching high school football after Thanksgiving fun.

I haven't felt this confident in a team since 2008. That team was absolutely stacked, and the only team that really scared them was Des Arc.  In 2003, we had to listen to this same junk. When we played Bearden, we hadn't played anyone that good. 42-0. Lafayette county. Same thing. Then Hughes was gonna be the best we had seen. 56-0. Barton was going to be the team to test us by the final game of the year, everyone picked JC to lose. It turned into a beat down shortly after kickoff. This JC team is stacked and young. Scary thought. Salems only hope is JC turnovers. Sometimes, there is a thorough bred amongst the mules. That is what your looking at this year.

Scary thought. Salems only hope is JC turnovers. Sometimes, there is a thorough bred amongst the mules. That is what your looking at this year.
I agree D1, I couldn't tell the difference when the subs were in or the 1st string. This team has the 9th grade undefeated and unscored on players and I think they're looking to run the gauntlet and bring home the ship...... ;)

Who's comparing games?  Even if there were a common opponent, that can often have no bearing on a head-to-head matchup.

Yeah, and our fifth seed gave that WR team all they wanted and held them to their second lowest scoring output of the year. Bye the way, since were comparing games, JC beat Strong 49-12 and it should of been by more.  ;)

Quit comparing scores. The fact is Salem does not match up with JC anywhere but on the interior of the OL, and that's a stretch with Taylor Mason coming on so strong late in the year.

You Salem folks have absolutely no idea what you're about to get into. Junction City will beat your brains in for one big reason: they will be the most physical team you will face all season. Sure, the Dragons' skill position guys will light your butts up, but it starts up front.

They will punch you in the mouth and won't let up.

The only way JC loses this is if they hand the game away via turnovers and such.

David Carpenter won't allow that.

A horse behind a cart is useless!! Answer to the riddle!

JC will crush Salem, Bigelow stayed with them till 4th and had the lead 95% first half!! JC will put them away early!!

You must be a single male because if you had a wife you would know exactly when and where you were wrong at all times. That being said , no need to write it down because you have already. Why waste my ink because you are never wrong or not very often anyway. Those times you claim to have seldom been wrong may come around more often now!!

I'm an innocent bystander here by the way.

Salem has typically be the slower team most of the year. For whatever reason speed teams do not effect these guys.  JC will be dominated up front... Mark it down.
It will be a good game but Salem wins by 2 td's

A guy posting that has no clue about JC's offensive and defensive lines. You will not dominate those units. To beat JC by 2 td's, you have to score 2 td's. Not something that happens very often.

Common Opponent was Marked Tree; both teams beat MT by 42.  Marked Tree scored on Salem but not on JC.  But you may as well be comparing almonds and peanuts; both are called nuts but only 1 is.

If Salem looses the battle up front then it's all over.  IMO that has been the biggest key to their success so far this year. If JC front line is remotely close to Salem then it will be a long night for the Hounds. I have not seen only heard about JC. I have seen Salem first hand. I'm pulling hard for the Hounds!

Going to be a long, long trip. I have worked there in my younger days. Everyone can look at a map and tell the distance. I think this must be a record for distance traveled to play a game between two AR. teams. I could be wrong, if it isn't then it has to be top 50 !!

;D Thanks Bleu!  Once again you do impressive work!  I did hear ole Phil say on his show the other night that LA girls don't have facial hair like them AR girls he used to live around....wonder if he was referring to JC women?   ;D ::) :P :o :o :o ;D :D ;) :)
i heard he was a good college qb.....la tech...maybe?

That's the fact Jack.  He was the junior starter at La Tech when Terry Bradshaw was a sophomore.  Phil stayed in school and got a degree but did come back for his senior year.  Rumor was the coach gave him a choice between hunting and football and Phil choose hunting.  After Phil left the team, Bradshaw moved into the starter spot as a junior and the rest is history.  The TV folks like to play the better than Bradshaw angle but Tech's teams weren't that good when Phil was the QB and went to small school national prominence with Bradshaw and a new coach.  Bradshaw would most likely have taken the starter spot whether Phil had stayed for Phil's senior year or not.

Legit in this case means they can handle what jc has..the rest may not be good enough but the front 4 are as good or better than what jc has...and there qb is also "legit"

Going to be a long, long trip. I have worked there in my younger days. Everyone can look at a map and tell the distance. I think this must be a record for distance traveled to play a game between two AR. teams. I could be wrong, if it isn't then it has to be top 3 !!

Not even Junction's longest playoff trip.

JC and Shiloh Christian have played twice in the playoffs. One was a classic in 1999 in JC.  The second was at U$C in 2001.

Roughly 330 miles between Junction City and Springdale.

Junction City to Salem doesn't even break 280.

One of JC's Alum plays for the Hogs atm; considered their best run stopper.  Another had about a 12 year career in the NFL as a Safety.  Don't be surprised if a few of this bunch play at higher levels.

I've watched film on JC and have seen Salem play, too bad for these 2 teams they are playing in 3rd round, probably the best 2 defenses in the state, it is going to be a good one, I'll take either team if you will give me 3 points.  JC 16 Salem 14.

JC has a loud and proud fan base, and rightly so.  The fans don't get to get on the field until the game is over.  Five years ago this week JC was preparing to go to Mt. Ida to destroy the Lions.  JC fans got on here and said, Mt. Ida has not seen our speed, size or strength.  We are going to drive up there and help you start your basketball season.  Mt. Ida will be lucky to even get close enough to smell the endzone.  Mt. Ida's defense will only get to look at the back of our rb's jersey.  Salem, JC is not superhuman, they do cry when you end their football season.

I remember that game.  Cookie almost got his head torn off and his fingers broken at the bottom of almost every pile.  I think Grantell wasn't up to speed for some reason.   Difference was basically a trick two point conversion play if I remember correctly.

That was on amazing run of games for Mt. Ida though:

Junction lost 22-20
Carlisle lost 21-19
Bearden lost 17-16

Definitely four teams capable of being crowned champ that year.  I was surprised Mt. Ida hasn't made more noise since '07.  What was the name of that superman MI had that year?

I could be wrong but I think Salem is the 2012 version of McCrory a few years back when they touted the strongest D in the state in any classification........until Bearden came to their place and mercy ruled them early.  Lots of sad and grumpy fans saw a real offense play their defense and they saw a real defense play their offense.  I really think this is how it will be for Salem this year.

If I'm wrong I will eat the crow and Salem will have the 8-2A's respect for sure.  Beat JC and you have done something huge; you will be the clear favorite to win it all this year.

Tthis, put aside your bitterness and read what I posted.

JC will have some fans travel to Salem, but with the way things are these days with the economy and fuel prices, expecting a lot of fans of any small school to go that far is a stretch.  Hopefully one or more of the local churches will do as they have in the past put together some kind of bus option for those who'd like to make the trip but otherwise couldn't.

I, with tongue in cheek, encouraged those in the Salem area to buy a ticket.  The AAA handbook spells out how the gate proceeds in playoff games are distributed and there will be extra costs for the school to get the players, cheerleaders and band to a venue that far away.

As far as your remark about JC's home attendance, there was a decent crowd at the last two games but unfortunately success can breed complacency in some people.  JC hasn't lost a first game in 15 consecutive playoff trips Coach Carpenter has made.  There have been only three losses in that period in the second round.  Most first or second round games have been mercy rules and/or shutouts as the two this year were.  Sad as it is for those of us who actually show up at the games, some of the JC "fans" think the real playoffs only start after Thanksgiving.

Gurdon had this type of turn out Friday against Bearden.  The stands were full and the edges of the fence were crowded.  Bearden had a bit more than usual, but as the games progress the stands become more crowded.  I wish it were better earlier but that is one of the side effects of having winning programs for many years...fans become used to winning and it takes more to excite them.  Bearden's first round game had no more fans than a regular season game.  I think when a town has new found success and the crowds are huge this really helps the motivation and makes it harder to play them.

Good to hear about the crowd.  Wouldn't expect any different from a team that broke the nine win barrier for the second straight year after having three one-win seasons since 2006.

Good luck, I just hope that large home crowd doesn't have too much to cheer about.  8) :-X 8)

Depends on the "hole" in question!!!! I do not wish to be in the six feet under "hole". Wouldn't mind being in the rock band "hole". In ng's defense he meant to hit the "w" . We all make mistakes don't we?? Can't we all just get along?? ???

lol and you salem fans arent like that...

I'm still trying to figure out what a "hole" team is and is it a team one really wants to be part of.  ???
i aint no English major

I'm thinking bleu would be a good professor with all the stats and things he throws out there, or digs up, or just plain remembers....And a thread with Tdn, Wilson, and amehr...now where's The_Bookie, and Juicey_J and we'd have a good thread lol...

My "Northern" Bias says I should pick salem...my brain says junction city...no offense to J.C...but I really want to see the giants get killed(not literally lol)...

Bit of advice to salem...send them up Highway 9 if they ask for directions...tell them to drive really fast, that way the Dragons will be deathly sick and puking from motion sickness lol.

Gonna go with J.C by 14

I will bet they have made mistakes too, they knew what you were talking about. They should apply for the spell checking job on this board if that is a big concern.

I was disappointed with the fan support. Nothing against the team, school or fans did show. Just expected more since all we here about is the level of talent from JC. Can't argue with the talent just figured most of the trash talkers on here would actually attend the game! I've seen more fans AT a 7-2A game when both teams had losing records!

It was a packed house on JC's side. You just couldn't see us for all the camouflage.  ;D
I'm thinking camo uniforms would look good.
camo uniforms with hunter orange #'s would be pretty cool

In 2008, des arc heard the same things about bearden, bout how they were gona beat d.a., well they didnt, then the whole 8-2a conf's posters said j.c. would mercy rule us, well i think its safe tosay we had j.c. fans bad nervous till the bitter end. D.a. left no doubt the 2 best teams played that night. Yes the 8-2a posters can be obnoxious, but after that game des arc had earned the respect they deserved and those posters gave it too us.

Point is, salem if you win you will get their respect.

Pick. . when i read that i just think of Juiceman and JC Pimp. . . not sure if they were still posting much when you joined up. . .full frontal assault on every one of your last nerves would decribe JM. . and pimp just had no filter. . but they made the site interesting to say the least. . . i know HF mentioned JM earlier. . . HF, me, ahmer, and tdn. . we have been around a while. . the JC fans and team were much like the Salem fans/team  are now, back in 03. . . We went on what i still call ''the magic carpet ride'' that fall. . Beating undefeated Rison and Barton in back to back game to win the ship granted enough street cred that JC could still be living off of it without 08 and 09. . Salem has that looking them square in the eye if they can win the next 3 weeks also. . .its set up for them

Who replaces 50 on defense this week? Who will be kicking off now? This was going to be a tough game if Salem was 100%.  I know some Salem posters have said 11 was gonna play. How much of a factor will he be if he is less than 100% with the hole on the O-line also?

We have plenty of RB's that can run.  We had two get 100 yds last week.

my guess would be 56 on D--he's usually the 1st one in and knows what he's doin--that D-line will be ok--11 will get yards at 80% but they've got 3 or 4 backs that have seen game time

Most teams in 2a don't have the luxury of depth. Even at JC. There is a reason one is the starter and one is not.

Never said they weren't. 2003 was in a league of their own. 1999 had as much speed, more depth, and a dominating O and D line. 2008 and 2009 had two Sec defensive players. Can't really compare this team to those. I do think they are the best in the state hands down, just young. The difference is these kids just do not turn the ball over.

Not only have they discovered it, they perfected it. As D1 said it sure makes it more exciting. Another plus of this team is the depth of RB's. Junction has always had good RB's and more than one, but this year they go 2-3 deep in each position including the QB.......

Cuz I doubt JC has perfected the forward pass. Yes your QB has set all sorts of records for a JC quarterback but really your offense is more balanced now.

I would bet that Salems QB and JC's QB numbers are pretty comparable. Sufficent not perfection.

Perfected might be a little strong, but he is throwing 75-80 percent completion rate and at the high school level that's pretty good. JC does have a Tight end that's around 6'6'' who has a very good set of hands. Since the Rison game they've been very successful with the pass and it's freed the running game up quite bit. They have a slew of receivers to choose from also not just 1 or 2..........

Against Dierks he was 7 of 12 not as good as my earlier post but better than 49%. Two of those were for touchdowns. That was one of his poorer preformances. Bleu might be able to show his stats for the year, they might not be as good as I thought but I'd bet they're above 50%....

I don't think JC has to come out and be even 70% or better in their completions to win this game or any other game.  They are experts at the run and if you can add a little passing in the mix to force the d to fall back with the receivers....not an easy path to victory for their opponents.

Cuz, adding what Shaq did against Dierks to what ran in the ADG he would be 67 of 132 and that would put him just under 51%.  What impresses me is that he has 1,198 yards so his average completion is just under 18 yards. He also has thrown 21 TDs so he produces 6 points with about every third completion.  I'm not sure how a QB rating is calculated but that YPC and TDPC sound pretty efficient to me.

I'd like to see Wayne's game by game breakdown on Shaq's numbers. I'd guess the Earle and Rison games might have been below 30% because it was the D and special teams that kept those games close or winnable. He and the receivers have improved greatly as the season has progressed.

We Dragons are still a little wide eyed about this passing thing. I sat through a season not too long ago when I think JC's secondary intercepted more passes than the JC offense completed. That wasn't a bad year though since the last game was at WMS.

Your right 91. JC is still a running team. And I agree its not how many passes but is that passing game effective.

The 2 teams in terms of passing have pretty close to the same numbers. Someone from Salem can probably help on Salems numbers. I dont think either team is a true passing team. I dont tink 10-15 attempts a game makes you a passing team. But goes more torward balance and opening things up. As in JC's case they have a ton of speed that you would like to get the ball to on the open field.

To me the 2 teams are very similar. Except for in 2 categories tradition, which Salem is building on and JC already has. And overall team speed, I believe JC has the better team speed but I assure you Salem is not slow.

I think this game gets won in the trenches. I havent seen JC's line but I have seen Salems. And Salems D-line is very good. If JC controls that its a long night for Salem. If that D-line dominates like the times I saw it then this could be a ball game.

When you said "ask Bigelow" you lost us.  You are missing the point.  Jc has never meant that they have a prolific passing game per se, but for them its prolific and when coupled with their running game its dangerous.

I think it funny how JC talks about thier prolific passing attack and come to find our QB has more yards.  I gonna bet we probably got more rushing yards too.

Our QB can play ask Bigelow, on our first play on offense he threw a 97 yard TD pass which I think was a playoff record.

Going to need rebel64 for those.  I noticed an occasional references in the paper but they are few and far between when Dancy is usually the leading rusher and in the process of collecting of 1,400.

Hunter did have:
32 against Dierks
96 against Marked Tree (2 TDs)
at least 40 against Hermitage with at least 1 TD
80 against Bearden

Those are incomplete but with that pattern having 500 wouldn't be surprising.

He also had a 75 yard pick six against Norphlet.  That was one of his 2 interceptions this year and 12 in his career.

I did notice in Wayne's notes that JC has 4,755 yards in total offense for the year.

It's so much more fun to argue stats.  The MS-Carlisle thread has a dozen or more posts where they are arguing about how much a running back weighs. ???

Hard to say how bad JC wil beat Salem, because Salem plays in a weak conference.  But with the long ride for JC it will give Salem a chance to keep the mercy rule off.
JC wins pretty big.

Here we go with the weak conference again. I mean the 3 seed has beat 2 teams from the 8 and beat them good. The 3 has improved. JC probably wins this game. But the 7 will be non existant after the Bison and Bobcats run your final 2 teams out.

And the 8's 2 seed beat your 1 seed not once but twice. I doubt if JC mercy rules Salem unless they turn the ball over 5 or six times but dont see that happening either.

When WR demolished Rison (even though they are way down this year) you guys got respect.  I don't think anyone really thinks that JC will mercy rule Salem.  Salem may be as good as their record shows, but what people do see is that historically over the past several years your conference has been a bit weak...Who knows, this year it could be Salem vs Walnut Ridge in the semi's....  If ya'll beat JC you will have more respect than you can hold on too!   :o

I come from experience when I say JC will be very hard to beat.  Magazine was averaging 45 pts a game last year when we rolled into Junction, only to be held to 3.  Junction will not beat themselves and will scrap right down to the end.  Good luck to both teams and hope everyone stays healthy.

I'll pick JC 21-7

I haven't seen his total, but he threw 3 ints in the Bearden game.  He was 7 of 17 in that 20-14 win.

Shaq also plays in the secondary and his "net" interception number would be better than 4:

"The Junction City defense has recorded 22 interceptions this season (2nd most in school history, 2009 had 25). 13 different Dragons have interceptions. Keandre Evans and Jarkell Brown lead the team with 4 each. Shaquille Hunter has 2 so far this season. He is currently tied with Justin Cook (2005-07) with 12. He needs 2 more to become the school's all time leader. Alan Turner (2007-09) is the leader with 13."

Plus the young man can flat lay a hit from that D-back position. :o

No doubt Salem has a very good team this year. Since 2001 they've had 5 seasons where they were over .500 compared to JC's 100%, it looks to me that if JC only wins 8 games a year they've had a bad season. Tradition doesn't play the game but tradition does build confidence. I think tradition will win this game, but I've been wrong before.

This comes from a premium provider, normally all stats are pretty much right on.............
No. 1 Junction City at No. 3 Salem
Top-ranked Junction City has not lost since Week 1 when it fell at Class 3A Earle 14-7 in a downpour. The Dragons allow just 126 yards and 4.3 points per game, posting seven shutouts in its last eight contests. Senior LBs Hayden Smith (97 stops) and Will Houston (76) pace the Dragons in tackles. Sophomore tackle Tyler Mason (6-3, 285) has collected 66 tackles, including six tackles for loss. Sophomore end Jamario Bell (66 tackles, four sacks) and Robert Armstrong have played well. Junction City's 22 interceptions are the second most in school history. Senior QB Shaq Hunter has passed for 1,198 yards and 21 TDs with just four interceptions, while sophomore Jaqwis Dancy has rushed for a team-high 1.367 yards and 14 TDs. Salem counters with an offense that averages 443 yards and 38.5 yards per game, triggered by junior QB Dillon Turner (1,192 passing yards and 15 TDs). Junior J.J. Gray (1,098 rushing yards) averages 6.6 yards per carry. An aggressive defensive front features junior NG Augustus Freeman (33 tackles) an senior DT Hunter Medling (55 tackles). Salem allowed 200 yards last week to Bigelow, including less than 50 in the second half. Three-time all-league LB David Tarpley (61 tackles) will not play after being ejected from last week's 46-13 win over Bigelow.

Would love to see Salem win for NE Ark football

Also would be nice since I know the Salem coaching staff pretty well.

Besides, with so many Sophs and Jrs listed for JC...maybe the long bus ride gets them...

jc should win this game all ive read is about salems line play is this or that but jc specializes in line play plus jc is spreading u out more now and will throw deep on u if u play close and will either run or pass short if u give room the jc defense is stout with will houston in the middle as a leader and good size on the line this all could spell hard times for salem

Well heres to hoping theat the 2012 JC and Salem teams are playing this game. Hoping Salem bucks the trend as they say.

The past is the past. Tradition is great youve won a bunch a games and titles over the years. Traditoin doesnt win football games. Yes it means your probably gonna be good year after year. Salem is establishing some tradition. JC didnt just start up over night im sure.

Fact is this game will be decided friday night. Not in an 09 Bearden/MC game not from an 03, 04 or whatever JC team. And Ive havent seen to many Salem fans saying that they are gonna beat the tar out of JC. But a lot of people saying JC is gonna mercy Salem. I believe Salem makes this a game.

if jc plays the way they should no one in 2a can play with them the closest game was the bearden game and it couldve and shouldve been in hand way before it was jc fumbled to much in hte first half and gave a td off a fumble return and then fumbled inside the 20 jc shouldve beat bearden worse than they did at that point not sayin that bearden hasnt improved but jc is the only team that can beat jc

I have never been accused of being the sharpest tool in the shed but how can anyone predict a mercy rule.(for either side) This has to be two of the top 4 or 5 teams in 2a ball. That is a 5 touchdown difference. I just cannot see it happening.

Wait until Friday night and you will see.  Junction is not your typical 2a school.  The athletes you see on the field will blow your mind. You will see speed like you've haven't seen all year.  You will see hits like you haven't seen all year.  You will see coaching like you haven't seen all year as well.

I'm not trying to knock your team. I haven't seen them play, just highlights from your website and other sources.

Trust me, our team has been put out by them for the past no telling how many years.  Either them or Bearden have met our team in the 1st or 2nd round for years and they always come out on top.  We have had some amazing teams too.

I'll go out on another limb and tell you Bearden is going to win it all this year against Junction in the finals.

Wish it weren't true but I've seen good 2a teams in my past history.  Shiloh Christian being one and they don't make them like Junction.
I am from McCrory. I have seen some pretty good 2a teams as well. I plan to make the drive to salem and see this J.C. team. I still can't wrap my mind around a mercy rule.

You guys from McCrory seem to have a hard time with your history.  Remember when the same exact scenerio was facing you when ya'll were so awesome (like Salem) and everyone predicted that McCrory would walk all over Bearden.  This is what is going to happen Friday when JC comes to Salem.

In case you guys have a hard time remembering 2009 here is a small sampling  ;D

I would like to thank all of the Bearden faithful for at least giving us a chance to have scored in this game and not get blanked.  We appreciate this.

Bearden - 42
McCrory -  7

Final

91, dont be so hard on everyone. Because i plainly remember in 2008 bearden saying what they were gona do to des arc when yal came here, but we both know how that ended. Then as yals fans were leaving our field they were saying how j.c. was gona mercy rule us in title game. Well that didnt go like that either.

Point being, every now and then, a team will step up to the level that the 8-2A plays. Salem very well could be that team this year.

Your right pick, I remember when you guys beat us.  It was the first playoff game in many years that I wasn't there.  I was extremely sick and was actually asleep when the game ended.  Yes, you guys stepped up in both games.  I have said many times on many threads that the teams remaining could beat any of the others on a given night depending on how both teams play.  And I would say that even JC isn't immune to such an event if they don't come out guns blazing like they usually do.  But, the odds are in JC's favor Friday wouldn't you say.  They "normally" win the games they are expected to win and most of the time they do beating the odds placed on them.

The reason I think that it could "maybe" get out of hand is mainly due to the fact that Salem is in unchartered waters at this point .  They haven't faced a team quite like JC this year.  They are going into this game with all the knowledge of who JC is and what they have accomplished.  If they come out and make mistakes then that's when JC can really get carried away.  Will it happen?  That's why they are playing the game!

I was just trying to make the boards interesting with my 2009 McCrory "reflection" post...  it's all in good fun right? ;)

I think JC will win by 20 points, but man I will be rooting for Salem!!
u know theres only been 1 team score 20+ on us
JC will be the best team Salem has seen all year and playing a slow team prior to this game wont help. It will take almost 2 quarters for salem to adjust to their speed.

I wouldn't suggest that Bigelow matches up with JC on speed, but Bigelow did have a few guys that were pretty quick (especially the RB # 1). I don't know if you could really call them a slow team. From watching the footage, the little RB from gave Salem fits in the first half. In the second half Salem did a lot better job of stopping the run. That game last week may actually help Salem adjust to the speed of JC. The only problem is, JC doesn't just have one or two players with speed.

I can not even believe that yall are going to consider Salem coming out of this one victorious. Junction is to big, strong, and fast for the little team up North. I know that the only way that Salem can make this a game is if the Dragons are still a little bit sleepy with the 6 hour bus ride. It's really going to be fun to get on here Saturday when Salem is looking for to basketball and Murfreesboro is preparing for Junction City. Get real.

I like the idea that JC spreads it out.  The less they got blocking on the line the better Salem is gonna be.  Just like when Salem played EPC and WR when they spread out in the passing formation the dline just tore them up.

I have said this before it this isn't a track meet.  The best way to defeat speed is good tackling.

This game did get some air time on Drive time today in the middle of the talk about the Razorback coaching situation.

Should be a great game.   I think both teams are great and we couldn't get a better third rd game to watch.

Thinking like that will make you start dribbling a ball sooner than expected. If you don't believe me, ask Rison.  :o There have been some on here posting that JC will win easily, but most of those fans are not from JC. The vast majority of JC fans are, and have been, optimistically cautious in our predictions. We feel that If we play to our potential, we will be hard to beat. However, we also realize that Salem will be the best team that we have faced since Bearden in week 3 of the season. One has to respect Salem for their accomplishments this year and how they have dominated their conference. A conference, by the way, that is 2-0 against the 8-2A.

You can always subtract a little on height and weight, and add a little on 40 times. I laugh every time I hear someone say 4.4 forty.  People have no clue how blazing fast that is. Trindon Holiday ran a legit 4.32 forty his senior year, after practicing for four months just on technique with professionals. He was the fastest person on the field and ran around a 4.4 in football condition.

Not from JC but when we (Strong) played them, the big guys weren't major contributors, they may be now but I doubt they moved the starters out of their positions. IMO, JC is as good as they are because of the off season weight program

Most of those heights and weights are pretty close. #40 is Jamario Bell is legit leads the team in sacks, sophomore. #52 Taylor Mason also a sophomore is one of the leading tacklers has really come on strong the last few games. Khari Moore and Levi Howe are as legit as they come.....

Grey68 you don't have to repeat that over and over.  You can't say that you have not said negative things. You and you alone keep bringing this back up.  Most of the greyhound fans just scroll on past your post now.  Grey68 just admit your have been critical and move on.  You remind me of my dad he is die hard New Orleans Saints fan but everytime Drew Brees thows a int he thinks he is the worst QB and the saints suck but at the end of the game he always still a die hard saints fan.

I alot of the greyhound fans on here are parents so they are very sensative to being critical and I would be the same way if my child was on that team.   This players have been around you for the last 7-8 years so when you post objective things about them and they read it they feel betrayed by you.  I understand your points but this 16-17 year old kids do not and take it offensive.

Now do I think your a huge greyhound fan.... yes but I do believe that you have been critical at times.

lol the reason I put that on there, I seen on another post about me being negative.(from ng71) I think this whole thing is funny, am I critical? sometimes, when I need to be. I always have been. Even when my son was playing. Ask anybody they'll tell you. I tell it like I see it. Some people need to realize that when you tell a kid he's perfect, never does wrong, ect, they don't know how to handle life when they figure out it ain't true. Support them absolutely, don't don't make em think their perfect. Besides, I don't care what people think about me, I was talking football, and I'm done with this conversation.

Howe #72 is a big un- for the ones that don't know, same size as stocton Mallett from yellville! Salem has a couple that run in the 4.6-4.7 range so they are not the slowest team out there, don't think we have anybody in the true 4.5 area. but we will be close, cause there's not much difference between 4.5 and 4.6.

when you talk crap about the team your suppose to be supporting no one from the team or town likes it.  they take it personal, i like to talk football to but i will not be negative or say anything to hurt or take away from what they have accomplished. go hounds

find me 1, just 1 post where I talked crap about the hounds. Never happened. did I ever post about needing to work on something probably but most honest people figure out the weakest link and work on it to make it better, and that was my only point. To make these kids the best they can be.

Haven't read one post where 68 talked bad about Salem. If you don't think that Salem has a few things to work on your nuts. If you don't think JC's coach won't see those flaws on tape your stupid.

And if you guys wanna say a guy that has done nothing but be honest about his team while still supporting it to the fullest is being Negative and bad mouthing them your idiots.

you took that the wrong way, maybe I should have said possible last game. the post was more about ejections in the playoffs. excuse me for not being more plain with my post. not once have I said Salem would lose a game. I have said it will be a tough game and they better be ready, and I stand by that.

Back porch, front porch, where ever, if you can't say it to that person, then maybe you shouldn't say it at all. Thank you for making my point, I don't say one thing behind their backs and something else to their face. unlike some people we all know.

And if you 2 cant handle a little honesty and some criticism thats your problem. i understood what he was saying in the comment you posted. If you think 68 would rott against Salem, well thats just crazy. Just because he sees the flaws doesnt mean hes being negative, just means hes not blind.

Like I said he hasnt said anything to put down a kid or said anything bad about them.

You guys have to face the facts though this could be Salems last game. Neither I nor 68 have said Salem would lose this game. I myself am pulling for Salem. But this is the best team they will face this year, by a wide margin.

Seems to me G68 at least talks football, not gossipping about other posters. Little fyi on 4.5-4.6, first laser speed or not laser speed. Shaquille Hunter's was taken at a combine, Laser. Second there's 4-5 faster than him. Now I could add a 3rd, 4th and so on, but not necessary cause JC's fixing to start practice in a hour or so, don't want to miss that, what's the Salem boys doing this morning? ;D

Come on guys! I think you are giving FF way too much credit. Down on the southern border, I bet 99% of the town of JC knows nothing of FF much less reads or post on here. Heck, you can count the number of faithful JC posters on here on one hand. As far as the players, most have been told (or should have anyway) by their coaches either to stay off here or not put much stock in what is posted. Now Salem may be different. Everyone in town may stay on the edge of their seat to see what is posted next on here. But, I doubt it.  ;)

I know for a fact that bearden players do get on here.  Whether or not they are told not to i dont know.  When we beat gurdon last week several players were yelling "where u at bakbak!". Its what gave them some bulletin board material.  Salem has some internal bickering that should be time spent building up their kids on a great accomplishment.  It seems that its more about these posters than the kids who are the ones that got this town here in the first place!  Count your God given blessings Salem posters!

Dr. Dragon has diagnosed many of JC's opponents with this OTP of which you speak.  The opponent's symptoms often occur as soon as the JC buses arrive.  The Doc has written a prescription for the cure.  Unfortunately, the administration of the treatment can sometimes be worse than the disease.  Of course curing the opponent's ailment is contingent on the dose and frequency being administered properly.  ;D

Safe trip to all and best of luck to both teams.

congrats Salem greyhounds on a great year. You guys played hard and made a town very proud. You guys set the bar pretty high for future teams to follow up, keep your heads up, you guys have nothing to be ashamed of. Again congratulations on a record setting year. 8)

And congrats to JC, you guys played a great game and are a very solid team. If this is a down year as some said earlier in the year, I'd love to see you guys play on a good year. Good luck the rest of the year, and stay safe with no injuries. and I agree, JC is very fast, and very elusive. It's hard to tackle someone you can't get your hands on.

And yes, with my Wildcats' reign over (we WILL be back), my attention now turns to Junction City and that all 2A-8 title matchup. We all know what the best league in 2A is. It is bound to happen sooner rather than later.

Obviously, your reading comprehension is about as good as WR will look this Friday.  I didn't say I don't know anything. I said I don't HAVE to know anything.  What I DO know is when JC has all cylinders clicking, no one in 2A (and a lot from higher divisions as well) don't stand a chance.

A lot higher divisions like 3A or are you talking about 7A or even DII?  Wow these guys sound like giant killers?  Well WR is certainly no giant and yes we are most fortunate to be here.  In fact if it weren't for such an easy draw we most likely would have not made it out of the first round.

Wait... We beat a team from the 8?  Oh in fact we beat two teams from the most dominant conference this world has ever seen!

WR would be better to just raise the white flag now.... Save the gas money for the charter bus.... Oh wait our Super signed the contract and put in the wrong dates or was it they charter service had no drivers?  The last paragraph only applies if your from WR.

After an hour or so of waiting on the charter we had no choice to pull out old yellar and hit the road.   Super is super cheap and most likely didn't want to spend the $$ on the charter.  Sad situation for the boys.  Hopefully he will pull head out this weeks and do what is right.  We will need something comfy to rest in after the beating JC is going to administer.  :-)

I know what WR has and i now know what JC has after watchiing the salem game..  KHL, i like you bro and i know your son is a sr but JC is gonna win by as much as they want..  When they get outside it's atleast 10-12 yards..  Watching them last nights the qb from jc suprised me with his arm strength.  If you want to contain him then don't rush anyone b/c he'll break your ankles trying to tackle him..

If we were talking about the larger classes, you would have a point. But in the smaller classes, more often than not, a few injuries play a major role.

So, you were saying?
Title: Re: Junction City @ Salem

KHL, i know what you are saying..  Anyone can play with anyone on a given friday and i hope you guys give em all they want..  I just have never seen a team with that much speed..  The offense if JC isn't passing isn't a tricky offense to stop..  It's just if you can stop the qb..  Salem got some pressure and then just couldn't catch him and wasn't close..  They got him a few times tho but not many times..

Oh and do not run it to Jamaro Bell's side..  The big 6-7 soph #40 unless you want to lose 5 or 6 yards..  Run away from him please..

Salem, great year..  You guys had a great season and will have another great season next year..  With all that money the school made last night please install more bathrooms..  It's hard to hold it in 30 degree weather for more than 15 min in line..  :)

Hey DJ you left out #11 Hayden Smith only 5'10", 190, but he did go over 100 tackles for the year last night, maybe # 52 sophmore 6'3'' Taylor Mason, he clogs the middle up pretty good along with #72 Levi Howe. Will Houston will put your lights out also. Rb's, Dancy, Evans and a slew of other backs. Shaq and co. on the secondary certainly will have a few interceptions and a large amount of tackles. Probably left someone out so I apologize ahead of time........

I've seen this skyscraper play before in person and well I don't remember his name being called out that much. I guess Salem had somebody blocking him that wasn't very good. I'm not saying the kid can't play but it sounds like he's getting upplayed a lot by the Salem fans because they're player couldn't guard him. It's absurd to say you don't need to even try to run towards his side.

Nah, Salem doesn't have any good players.  ::)They just finished the regular seson undefeated and beat the brakes off everyone in their conference including WR.  ;)

Oh, and I guess that very same player that we will call "not very good" kept changing where he lined up cuz Bell plays on both ends (sometimes at the same time).  :o

I agree with Donnie. I haven't seen a 2A school this year with the team speed that JC has everywhere on that team. I've seen all the teams that are supposed to be fast but none compared to JC, but what really makes them good they are hard nosed and very  physical.....

Most everyone knows ... Nobody is as big , fast and strong as Junction City ... I mean no one has a chance against this Junction City team , well maybe Chuck Norris and his all star team  :o   It was a fluke that Bearden led them with less than 2 minutes left in the game  ;)

JC definetely had the speed, but Salem made some mistakes that also cost them. They have been almost mistake free, remember I said almost. I do believe that alot of the hype about JC was also a factor. They have a young coach that also is in a learning process. Hopefully he will learn from the this game. Do I believe that Salem could have beat them, YES! They have what it takes, and with some adjustments, they will be a contender again. Salem had a terrific season, and even though they didn't make it to the semi finals they have NOTHING to be ashamed of. They broke records, and they should be proud. Congratulations SALEM GREYHOUNDS, you did what they said you would never do. Now work hard all summer if you have too and get there next year.

Now Game you know that early in the season la tech hadnt sent their red shirts up to jc yet.   Jc, as usual, has gotten better with each game, but when is the last time we've, seen bearden play so well?  In the past they have been a really good team with a great star (Watts, Lowe) but now they have two really good qb's and one is going to be the best player in bearden history i think.  We have the speed to match any team we play.  We have good size on the lines.  We have excellent receivers and our secondary....wicked!  And we have Bj on both sides of the ball.  We have to play solid friday to expect to compete against ms but we should be ok.  If any team has a chance to beat them pesky dragons its bearden.  Our guys know it too which most teams dont think they can.  Exciting next few weeks for four teams for sure.  Plus Cuz said they were in the sharing mood this year and want to spread those titles around the 8-2a!  Cuz is a great guy!

This forum I believe was designed to discuss the pros and cons of individual teams. The constant name calling and statements such as yours just belittles the overall 2A division. Every single person on here should always remember before answering others statements is how does this reflect on not only my team but our division. There is nothing wrong with staying faithful to whatever team, without making degrading comments. The 2A players who want to pursue more of a football future have a much harder road than even a 4A school. These young men need to be uplifted and learn by others good examples. They need encouragement, sound criticism, and forums such as this should be doing this. I stand by the statement to encourage this team to continue to pursue their goal. At any given time any one of these teams can be beat or can win, there are alot of factors involved which can determine the outcomes. "Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, its amazing what they can accomplish." Sam Walton. " I've learned that something constructive comes with every defeat." Tom Landry

It would be rather constructive for all these one hit wonder teams to learn that you don't stack up with the big dogs just cause mommy, daddy, and the grandparents think you're a "special" team.  No matter how much you folks "believe" in the team, you just cant beat a team that much better than yours.

I wouldn't exactly call Salem a one hit wonder team any more than I would say this about any other team who made it to the playoffs. They all earned their right to be there and try for that state championship. "One hit wonder teams" may be the next team to be the winner. Your belief that JC was much better than Salem or any other team is admirable, but no different than my belief that with adjustments that the outcome could have been different. I never belittled any of your athletes, in fact I said that they had speed.  And everyone should be proud of each of their special athletes, including mommy, daddy, and grandparents. Without this pride in our special athletes no one would have a football game to attend, including players. Our youth are the next generation to carry on, without encouragement where would the world end up? Everyone learns from mistakes, if you don't make mistakes you never learn.  For your information I don't live in AR, I live in MO, and travel several hours every time there is a game. And yes I am one of those grandparents who encourage their grandsons in every part of their life. I am extremely proud of my athlete and the team of which he is part, and will continue to impart encouragement and inspiration so that they may succeed in their future on and off the field. I am proud of the accomplishments that this team made this year, and no one can say that this team has not overcome alot of adversity. They may be losers in your book, but to every mommy, daddy, and grandparent in Salem, this team is a winner! And while I am at it congratulations to the rest of the teams for playing some good games this year, especially the 3-2A.

You need to read the above post before you bad mouth everyone, it helps to read all the posts on a thread before you mouth off. For your info, a one hit wonder is a team that's won the Championship at WMS, and never's competed again for the title, which Salem hasn't gotten that far yet...........Maybe next year????
