Ummmm Just want to throw this out there....the scores ARE NOT MINE they come from http://www.calpreps.com/cgi-bin/2014/project_matchup1_new.pl  I just simply broke the ties and projected all of the match ups as they fell on the bracket...the Charleston vs Lamar final...is a bit interesting...Can we call the potential Lamar/Smackover game the Runner UP game this year?

I just vomited in my mouth a little bit!

ha...The last time I did this for 2A it had the champion projected out back in the 4th or 5th week....Just didn't have the right runner up until week 8 or 9 that year...

For the record I don't think Smackover loses to lamar at home...Booneville @ Charleston will be interesting. How many teams get a second shot at a team in the semi-finals on the same field as the first try?

Proud Buckaroo

Honestly, there is no way that Smackove loses to Lamar at home. Our home field advatange has gotten really good these past few years.

Padding those envelopes you use to pay the refs, eh PB?

I honestly don't think Booneville will beat A very experienced Prescott team

Proud Buckaroo

I don't think I've ever seen a problem with the refs are Smackover. We usually have a really decent squad. It's just the atmosphere I'm reffering to, HF.

And for the record, if I had the money to "pad the envelopes." I probably wouldn't be working shift work.

HF, you should come to the Smackover/McGehee game. I'm sure a few of us would like to actually meet you.

Ha I hear ya there...Working 40 m/l a week to cover bills etc with 3 kids and the wife a full time student doesn't leave a whole lot extra in that "bribe" budget :D

Smackover is a bit out of my driving range...okay I'm not going to lie, it's a loooong way out of my driving range. I did not drive down to watch Hector get beat by Junction City last year either...that's a long way on a Friday night.

Proud Buckaroo

The game will be in McGehee. I don't know if that's any closer or not. LOL.

2.5 hours from Work give or take....Which means 3ish from my house. That's still a long haul on a Friday after putting in 8sh hours..

FTR it's 2 hrs 45 minutes to smackover from work...sooo It's slightly closer lol

Big Red

Yea.  The brackets are made on a rotational basis which sometimes result in the best 2 or 3 teams playing each other too early.  It happened last year and two years prior to that (and prob a lot of other times).  And two years ago, Smackover was a 5 seed, but probably the 9th or 10th best team in 3A that year.  If H.A.(or the winner of 2 -3A) gets a good draw it is there turn.  And the same goes for Charlestons conference actually.  The years they won they had to basically beat all the top 5 in the playoffs also.  Glen Rose had the easier draws those years.  As far as the brackets go, they are irrelevant if you are talking about winning the state championship.

Proud Buckaroo

I can answer that....  No that is Booneville @ Charleston

Bald Knob... Semis?
Yeah that's a good one.
HF- If your wife goes to bed at like 4pm tonight, maybe you will have time to do Calpreps projections on all the remaining conference games as well, so your bracket will be more in line with the likely seeds from each conference. Should only take you 6-8 hrs or so I would think. I would do it but you are so good at it and I wouldn't want to steal your thunder.
Anyway, the BK in the semis deal doesn't take into account that they are likely to end up losing 2-3 games the rest of the way. It also reflects the reason ECS lost on purpose (I told you so Kojack) to Prescott to get into the bottom half of the bracket; if BK can get projected into the semis, it has to be an easier road! Although I can't see Smackover losing to Lamar at home under any circumstances.

snoopy22

Lol....Gonna be very interesting!!  I have Episcopal in semis though without a doubt to face the winner of 6-3A champs and 4-3A #3 seed.

Megatron

This bracket should have been reviewed!  How's Boonville and Charleston on the same side? I thought that was #1 part of a bracket was to put 1&2 from each conference on opposite sides

Why would an EC$ poster wish for Prescott to play Booneville. Get more familiar with the 3A posters...but I am a Prescott poster and I don't necessarily wish to play y'all but I ain't messed up about it when it happens. But truthfully we prolly won't be playing y'all till the semi's. ;D

Prescott and Booneville have a long history of playing each other in the semi-finals. In 1973 Prescott won 52 to 0 and in 1975 Prescott won 21 to 0 and won state both of those years. Booneville won 10 to 9 in 1985 and 30 to 3 in 1986. If they do play each other I am sure it will be a great game.

Here's an interesting scenario. A very stout Hoxie mustang team, versus Ty Story and the Charleston Tigers.

Have you seen the Hoxie defense? Hoxie is scoring 44.6 ppg while only allowing 6.8 ppg.

Hoxie is clearly the best team in 3-3a but wait. They are coming for anyone in their way come playoff time.

The 3-3A appears to be the equivalent of the 4-2A....One team makes it out of the first round(I'd have to relook at the bracket), wins a playoff game or two before getting drummed by the power conference schools...Just my opinion from the outside looking in of course.

Mightymustang1

as bad as the 3-3a may be, with their victory over tridition  rich Barton, personally I think that game alone have Hoxie a look at one of the states best & prepared them for any situation that may come.
