Personally, I love Johnny Football. Great athlete. Very confident and yeah he's arrogant and cocky, but he is good. As for people saying game plan to stop Johnny you can't. He will do what he wants when he wants to. You just have to minimize the damage and get a stop or two on defense then have your offense score. That's how you beat the REINING HEISMAN WINNER JOHNNY MANZIEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnny Manziel uses a strap???  ???

Apparently Cleveland offered it to him as part of his contract.  Lol!!  :)

bdubyab60

Well they went out and got a receiver, Austin Miles. However they told Manziel he is to be a backup, according ot reports from ESPN.

Valleysports

Of course he's a backup - kid just came out of his sophomore year in college!  ::)   Mallet is a backup - what's this his 10th year ?  Admittely, Mallet's no Johnny Football, but still - keep it real.   ::)  Cleveland has some pretty good draft picks next year - I sure hope they save him until after they get all the tools they need and he finishes growing physically & mentally.

Speaking of Mallet - who's he going to be backing up next year?

bdubyab60

I would figure they would at least wait before naming him back up. Its not like they got world beaters in front of him and he may be better than what they have on roster now.

Quit taking it so personal its not like I was bagging on him. Plenty of QB's have been thrown to the woves in there first year and as long as Brady is healthy Mallet isnt touching the field. At least hes sitting the bench behind a HOFer and not a beat up Brandon Wheedon.

Valleysports

So you're going to rag (previously hate) on him for 3 years then suddenly act as if you wish him well.  LOL  I remember when you said the SEC, would adjust and destroy him in his Sophomore year.  BTW Manziel doesn't sit the bench behind Weeden, Campbell, Vince, nor Tanny.  Just to let you know - I don't take it personal - I take it in a good way, you bait me a little, I serve Mallet back at you.  It's all good.

New England just drafted their back up QB - Jimmy Garoppolo.  Mallet is a bargaining chip for Belichick, play him just enough, to show off his arm, but not long enough to see he's not going to be a franchise QB...

bdubyab60

I never wished him bad either. Never ragged on his skill either just his attitude. And no, no one every really stopped him, its not the first time and wont be the last i was wrong about something. Plus Im not really wishing him well, but you would think that a team that doesnt have a solid quarterback would at least wait and see if the kid is better than what you have before naming him a back up. Especially when hes a first round pick. True most QB's benefit from riding the pine for a year or 2.

Youre probably right about Mallet not being a franchise guy. That glob of jelly between his ears is holding him back. Guys go the arm though so you never know Brett Favre made it years with just his arm. And no Mallet is not favre

This isn't the NFL of 10 years ago. Teams and fan now realistically expect rookie QB's to not only start, but take them to the playoffs.

Valleysports

What fan's expect and what they get are two different things.  I agree about it not being the NFL of 10 yrs ago, thank goodness mobile QB's (athlete's) are making a come back.  In Johnnies case - didn't whomever, with the Cleveland Browns, tell Johnny "you're a backup - act like it"?  I'm sure they're trying to avoid drama.  I would recommend Johnny Football get the same kind of injury insurance that Bosworth got!

What attitude?  Confidence bordering on cockiness is a good thing.  As far as casinos, girls and cigars.... 90% of us on here would have done the same at 19.  Heck,,, if I was single, I'd do it now at 60....

Valleysports

Ha ha - I think you'd appreciate it more now that your 60, than when you were 20... Now you'd have to go to the hospital after 4 hrs.  ;D

Would recommend any athlete to do it. Many of the contracts arent guaranteed. I understand them trying to reduce the drama, but Browns fans are going to want to see johnny football. I understand the Browns have got to protect their investment as well.
I just think he is better than what they have on roster right now and the Browns, lets face it, are costing themselves some ticket sells by doing it.

Borderline? What player were you watching? Have no problem with the girls and what not. What kid doesnt want to do that, but as the face of a program its probably not what you want.

If Johnny football had of been a Hog i would have still complained about things like that. i would have took him running around in our backfield and making plays in a heartbeat though. I cant deny he was frustrating and fun to watch at the same time.

Remember when certain people were all upset about him giving the "Show me the money" sign, right here on this very board?  That kid's got such an attitude!  Guess certain people have figured out they misjudged?  But I never heard anyone post a correction on the false information they were spreading!   :)

Yeah, like you would have let your child act like that. Great scrambling QB, but less than desirable behavior.

TOUCHÉ

Even with your accent mark, I still here you saying that, very loudly;

TOOOOOOSH!

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Valleysports

Actually when I looked up how to spell it and make sure it meant what I thought - it was written in capitals.  Guess I should've copied it in small letters.  I'd type it, but trying to remember how it's spelled while changing pages, can mean multiple back n forth trips.

True Fan

I was talking about the pronunciation. You know, rhyming with whoosh.

Hope A&M isn't good at baseball - I think Ark and A&M meet first thing.

We beat em two out of three a couple of weekends ago. This tournament means nothing, who wants to use up a bunch of arms over 6 days when you have the regionals coming up. Of course, aTm may have to win several games at the SECt just to get in.

ricepig

Arkansas won 4-0, it will be interesting to see if the Ags have a good enough resume to get an at-large bid.

Baseball don't matter - Track is the sport where recruits seek out Arkansas.  Need to stay on top of that!

We've already won a NC in track this year, probably will again.

Valleysports

A&M just dominated the SEC - 40 points above Arkansas.  So you'll probably win another NC - explain.  How many NC's are there?  Indoor & Outdoor?  Hey I didn't realize Arkansas Girls won - that's good...  My only interest is football, so I'm good with Arkansas winning every sport.  Actually I kinda follow the Arkansas Diamond Hogs.  ;D

Well, I just looked it up, we finished second in the indoor, another terrible finish. I'm guessing it was 2013 the last time we won. They have Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor each season, the Hogs have won numerous triple crowns, but seriously, who keeps up with track. I'll wait and see how the NCAA's turnout before deciding this track year sucked.

Valleysports

Maybe not as popular - but if you're into track - you know Arkansas is the program.  Well my lifetime buddy (moved from South Side to Tyler in HS) - was all over my phone letting me know the Hogs put it on A&M 4-0, this afternoon..   First game of the SEC Tournament.   ;)

Must be some athletes at John T this year, read somewhere the Hogs were there a week ago evaluating 6 kids.

Anything would be better than Cleveland.

I've noticed Oregon pops up, a lot, when talking about A&M Recruits.  De commit from Oregon to A&M, Transfer from Oregon to A&M, etc..... Texas Kids, like Kyler Murray.  Oregon must really work Texas Recruits.

It got them in trouble a few years back.

Texarkana Libert Eylau's LaMichael James (49ers) headed to Oregon and a few others followed him from Texas. But the Ducks were toeing the NCAA line on some of these players.
