Title: QUARTERFINALS - Earle @ Foreman
Post by: Bearden_Bear72 on November 16, 2018, 10:31:41 pm
I like this match-up.  Two high intensity speed teams going at it.  Big question for me is can Earle D step up and stop a good offense.

I'm taking Foreman 28-14

If we play mouthy and disrespectful like we did tonight we will not win this game. Unsportsmanlike penalties hurt us. I'm sure Coach King will run the mess out of them and knock some sense back into their heads. I have faith the Gators will be alright.

Not trying to say it's justifiable but if what the kids are saying is true then I don't blame them for getting upset!! Now at no time can you allow the other team to get to you with comments but there's only so many times you can listen to someone say things about you or your family!! Not all of the Magazine players we're doing it. In fact most of them had outstanding sportsmanship but there were a few that did not. That's all I'm going to say! Not here to bash anyone! I have a new found respect for most of their players! Their fans were great too!!

Foreman will have all their players this Friday and yes most all of you don't know but the gators have been winning with players resting all season for this point in the year because of nagging injuries.  One game one game foreman was full strength and that game was Mt. Ida go watch it. It is on 42 sports u tube. Well let me take that back we didn't have #6 against Ida and all he has done the last three games is score 6 touchdowns with 3 punt returns for touchdowns on 3 attempts. One was called back last game because of a block in the back 20 yards behind the play.

I personally was disipointed with last week's performance however it is completely normal too underperform coming off the bye.. I have faith that the coaches will get this fixed this week and have a good game plan for Friday that our boys will exicute.. if you remember our second round game last year we played pretty bad .. we survived and the next week we destroyed a a Danville team that had just knocked off rison.   And never looked back .. hopefully we find that same determination ..

Not just Earle but the entire 6 conference wants us to go down. I don't blame them though who would want to play a fully heathy foreman team. The score of the magazine game is definitely deceiving. A competitive yes that the rattlers competed their tail off in but scored on backups with less than 30 seconds and had a pick 6. Several factors went into the final score but we won and it wasn't as dominant as we would like but we won. The second guessing of how good the gators is ok but make no mistake when the Earle bulldogs come into the swamp they better be ready cause these gators will most definitely be looking to show everyone why they are the defending champions.

Seems to me either your reading posts from people that are not from Foreman or your just trying to start something. This is not Gurdon or Hazen!! Nobody from Foreman has or is going to get on here and run their mouth. If Earle comes here and beats Foreman they will need to do that on their own motivation. I know I graduated from des arc school. But that's not any where near a 285 average. actually thats just 255, and since I bet they all weigh 10 pounds less than that. Your line is probably about the same as d.a. and our line whipped them.

I'm sure redzone hadnt looked it up .. .. fact is as pick knows in the flexbone you want size in the interior with smaller more athletic guys at your tackles ..it's a quality 2a line . The dline is generally our strong suit we are multiple on defense and may have any where from a 3 front too a 5 front on a given week .. I would suspect with Earle being a spread team we will be in a 3 front this week

The dline is generally our strong suit we are multiple on defense and may have any where from a 3 front too a 5 front on a given week .. I would suspect with Earle being a spread team we will be in a 3 front this week

Wasn't knocking the line. A 250 average is still big for 2A high school. 285 was a stretch.

Mountain Pine thought their line were gonna whip our lines, all ya gotta do is watch a little film of our qb taking the snap and the line just pushing the pile for 10 - 15 yards at a time.

Flexbone is all about that qb getting the right read you can run that offense with a mediocre line and be successful

I added in the D line with my average too. That equals close to 285

Don't really think running a 3 front would be a smart move for your coach with Earle's speed they would nickle and time you all night, but hey I'm not the coach.

There's no telling what they will run. They switch it up a lot. Sometimes they have 3 down linemen and two standing DE/OLB or 4-4 just depends on how Earle lines up

I agree with your definition of fat. That's why I'm saying he is closer to 250. According to MaxPreps he has 56 tackles with 24 for a loss in 10 games.

I agree with stuck, the only negative comments so far have came from posters that are not from Foreman or Earle. I think this will be a speed battle and both schools know it. It's great to see people promote their perspective team without having to downsize the other while doing it.
That being said, with a healthy Batey, Carver, Boyd, and Smith, I'll take Foreman by 21.

Seems like Hootens does not have the respect for Earle that the Foreman people do. Picking the Gators by 19. I'm sure that will add some extra incentive for the Bulldogs. I guess it takes a long time for news to travel from the Northeast corner to the Southwest corner of the state I didn't realize that Earle's starting QB Thomas was injured when they played Salem. Will he be able to go against the Gators? If so what percent will he be? Foreman has bent bit by the injury bug this year as well. I believe this will be the first time since maybe week two everyone has been healthy. If the 10 fumbled shotgun snaps that was reported by Hootens is true the Bulldogs will have to get that under control or the Gators D-Line will have a field day.

Thomas was injured against a Hazen, I'm sure he's getting close to being back. That kid can ball is why I said earlier that with Batey  and Thomas on the same field its a highlight reel waiting to happen.

It's quiet for a quarter final week. I hope everyone is preparing to have a warm meal with family and/or friends for Thanksgiving. Just a bit of information for the Earle fans, Foreman has three family owned restaurants that serve several menu items (Wooden Spoon, Southerland's Country Store, and BackYard Social Club). The Booster Club will have a burgers, nachos, chili dogs, etc.
We have no lodging, so if you plan to stay, you may want to look at New Boston, Texas (15 Miles south) or Texarkana (40 Miles). Both of which you'll drive through coming down I-30. Most people choose Texarkana for more selections on rooms and choices to eat.

I choose New Boston for convenience. They have a very good Mexican food place and plenty fast food. Two pretty good motels and a lot closer....

Now that the cat is out of the bag and the high school football world knows that there was an issue rear it's ugly head within the Foreman program I will do my best to explain the situation. The Gators have a strict wardrobe/ uniform policy. All players must wear white crew socks while participating in Friday night games. A few of the players wanted to wear black crew socks in this week's upcoming game. This was met with resistance by the coaching staff. Parents got involved and argued that a kid should have the right to wear the color of socks that they want. An emergency school board meeting was called Monday night and after a 2 hour executive session the board ruled that in order to resolve the contrversery each team member will wear a white sock on their left foot and a black sock on their right. Not wearing the proper sock on the appropate foot will lead to an automatic dismissal from the team.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!! Tell those kids if they don't like it to clean their locker out and kick rocks! Tell the parents that if they can't respect the coaches and how things are done then take their kids elsewhere!

Alright y'all got me. Nothing I said in my previous post was true. Honestly I really never thought anyone would buy it even for a second. Guess I was wrong. One thing for sure is this should be a lesson that no matter what you might hear it would probably be best to not pay it much if any attention because it probably isn't much truth to it. Everyone have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving and safe travels to Earle and their fans Friday.

One was called back last game because of a block in the back 20 yards behind the play.
shouldnt have everyone.  I know one player was ejected late in game last week.  He will have to sit

If the 10 fumbled shotgun snaps that was reported by Hootens is true the Bulldogs will have to get that under control or the Gators D-Line will have a field day.
hootens had Magazine 28 point dogs

Rattler, it's clear you're just here to irritate. For what it's worth, Hootens also picked Mt Ida by 13 for the final game last year against the Gators. You were probably too involved in round ball by then to remember.

I'll say this and then I'm turning my focus back on this thread subject, the Magazine team that was portrayed by the predictions is not the team that showed up in Foreman. It seems everyone wants to say the Gators didn't play well without giving credit to the Rattlers for a jam up job. Around the second quarter, they made a stand and held it throughout the remainder of the game. I can see them doing great things in the near future.

There was a lot of work done on the field last summer.   It's probably as level end zone to end zone as it's been in years.  The crown was lowered and drainage issues addressed.  The problem is the grass hasn't had a full year to establish its root system.  If it does rain all afternoon, some cuts can turn in to slips.

Great game Earle. You guys have a lot to be proud of. That was some of the best running I have seen. There were numerous times you guys were still moving down the field with 1-2 even 3 Gators hanging off from your players. Very classy as well. I saw no jawing or anything that would call for an unsportsmanlike penalty from your players. This day and age that is a feat. Safe travels back to the Delta and good luck with your offseason.

Guys he was in the end zone when the ball came out ??  We had way more penalty yards ? I thought the refs we're ok? Your down fall was trying too run a reverse up 8 with 5 Minn left instead of just putting the ball in number 5s belly? We never stopped that all night

Well...made it home safe in all that fog...what a game...Foreman controlled really early...but Earle took control and dominated almost 3 quarters of the game until that fumble late in the 4th...Foreman drove down and tied it up...but Earle still had a chance and blew it when Foreman attempted to kick the ball off and it nearly went backwards...you drove down to the 15 or so...then you got multiple tackles for a loss...Earle scored on that 4th and 17 in overtime...great catch in the corner of the endzone...Then Batey did his thing...from my view...he looked to be in the endzone when he fumbled...then everyone in that stadium knew he was running the 2pt conversion play...

My assessment...Earle could have been more successful if it were not for the high snaps...had to be around 15 or 20 of those...they competed all game...their defense was tough...Foreman earned every yard they gained...Foreman battled to the end and dug deep to win...both teams left it all on the field...I personally think JC wins next week...I'd like for the Gators to win...but the big dogs are coming too town...

Good luck next week Foreman!

Safe travels to the Earle folks...it's foggy as a mutha out there...

Kudos to the bulldogs and a hard fought game. They played just as hard on 4th and 17, as they did in first and ten. #56 is one heck of a ball player. I figure he's getting some looks. This was probably the best football game that I've watched this year. I'm glad the Gators pulled it off, but it was definitely a  close one

I have to say this was a good game. I'm not taking anything away from the Gators they played hard, and are a good ball team. But adults decided this game not the players on the field. There were no less than 4 major penalties that were not called fair and the fumble at the one yard line decided the game. I don't like seeing kids cheated who work so hard each week to beat both the team they are up against and the refs. Just call the games fair! Bulldogs this momma is so proud of you!

I agree the fumble that would have took us up two scores sealed our fate. When you've got a opportunity like that to give the knockout blow it has to be perfect. I was sitting back wishing we had a simple wishbone set or power I formation under center just for that moment right before that fumble happened. I'm not going to dwell on that last play, you can't ever allow officials to control your fate in the playoffs on the road. Bottomline is we missed our opportunity to deliver a Death Blow Knock Out Punch...

You could not have read the comments on this tread throughout the week because this was the most civil week of posting by both teams and no one got after each other here. How did the ref take the game? Lol #5 crossed the goal line before the ball came out. It's a touchdown. Don't you know the rules? And Earle had an opportunity to stop the 2pt conversion but couldn't do it. They lost the game themselves.

We come to DA in January. I'll get the date and post. We are coming to set the national high school scoring record. It's payback for the football game.

Cool. One thing about it, it will not affect playoff seeding or conference finish. Unlike the gridiron beating.  😏😏

It didn't affect us either our seasons ended on the same day. Just can't wait for the big pay back.

Big pay back? Might want to rethink that, so we dont have to beat yall worse next football season.

56 is a junior. We will be back. Only true football fan could appreciate a game like the one played last night.

Thanks, Coach Coleman and his staff run a tight shift and I"m convinced that if we continue to chip away at it the stars will eventually align in our favor. As far as the dude on here talking about Earle earning a right to play Basketball and Joking, "It's not at all a laughing matter and everyone will soon see! Good Season Bulldogs and I wish the Dogsl a great off season...

Not so sure about that. They were manhandled at des arc. Our line whipped them all night.

But I am glad they gave yal a good game.

I wish we could have had the easier game that junction received. If Earle had not had injuries against your twitty birds then maybe the Gators would have got that bye.

Lol, you dont really want that to have happened, yall would be in basketball this week, instead of next. The Earle qb, got hurt in the des arc game.

The game has been played. This thread is over. Did Earle play a good game against Des Arc? I have no clue, but I can say that the Bulldogs showed in Foreman with winning on their mind. Would DA beat the Gators this year? We will never know since the Eagles didn't get that far. I will say that I appreciated the DA head coach commentating the championship game last year, even though he leaned toward Mt Ida the whole game. Who knows, he may be the guest commentator this year.
