You sure you need to put an "s" of the end of playoff?

JUNCTION CITY (35) at Parkers Chapel (Thurs.): PC defeated Strong 36-14 last week with junior QB Caleb Jacobs completing 11 of 20 passes for 235 yards and four TDs. Senior SE/LB Amari Bell caught three passes for three TDs and returned an INT 60 yards for a score. JC throttled 4-2A member Hector 48-7 and has already secured at least a share of its seventh league title in the past 10 years.

I stand corrected.  I thought PC's #1 or #2 first round opponent would be stronger but it looks like if that's Magazine the LaLaLand folks see that as a competitive game.

Win that one and the prize should be a trip to The Lair.

At Pc winning a playoff game would be a big deal . We have only won one in our playoff history.

Junction City knocks off Parkers Chapel
This article was published November 1, 2018 at 9:31 p.m.

News-Times Staff

PARKERS CHAPEL - Dhante Gibson racked up 162 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries, as Junction City won the outright 8-2A crown by knocking off Parkers Chapel 53-14 Thursday night at Victor Nipper Stadium.

The Dragons (7-2, 5-0) rolled up 351 yards rushing en route to winning their sixth straight.

As the 8-2A's No. 1 seed, Junction City will host the No. 5 seed from the 3-2A next week.

Junction City quickly put the game out of reach by racing out to a 40-0 lead after the opening period.

The Dragons were very efficient in building their lead, scoring five times in the span of just 4 1/2 minutes.

Jakiron Cook, who had 57 yards on five carries, scored the first of his three touchdowns in the period on a 10-yard run at the 9:24 mark.

Just 81 seconds later, Gibson scored on a 57-yard run, and Cook scored on a 15-yard run with 6:49 left.

Gibson's second touchdown came on an 11-yard run with 5:50 to play, and Cook's final touchdown, a 20-yard run, came just 53 seconds later.

Junction City's defense had a major say in the Dragons' first-quarter explosion, forcing four turnovers that all led to touchdowns.

Bryce Ware intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble, while Kevontae Haynes had an interception and Jvacye Cook recovered a fumble.

In the second half, K.D. Smith scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter and Gabe Richard added a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter for the Dragons.

DeAndre Malone finished with 98 yards on 10 carries in the win.

Caleb Jacobs scored on a 15-yard run in the third quarter, and Ryan Simpson had a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to account for the Trojans' scoring.

The Trojans (2-7, 1-4) will either be the 8-2A's No. 4 seed or No. 5 seed depending on the outcome of Friday's game between Strong and Bearden.

On a bright note, PC's band sounds good and JC's band is improving weekly.  Good to see two small schools work to offer opportunities for all students in a time when the arts are the first programs to get cut.

Thanks for you comment.

JC recently built a new gym but unfortunately, it wasn't financially prudent to bring the 50's gym at JC up to current day standards for other uses.  As an alternative, that older building is being replaced with a new building.  The new building will contain a PE gym, health classrooms, an art room and a band room.  Construction is in process and it should be finished before the end of the 2018-2019 school year.  There is also land next to the new building which will be utilized as a practice marching field.  The current high school art and music facilities are on the elementary campus and the elementary kids will move into those.  Win-win for both groups of kids.

Didn't think PC played well at all last night..... Dragons obviously had a lot to do with that.  It would be interesting to see how they respond in two weeks if they were to go get a road win next week and go to JC with something to actually play for.
Outcome might not be much different but it would be interesting.
