Troy is the biggest trap game of the year. If we don't come out and play our A game Troy could put it on us. Very good passing game and can outscore you. Go stAte!
They're definitely playing their best football right now. If ASU gets passed them, I can see them knocking off MTSU to get bowl eligible next week.

True Believer

Chosen 1

Standings:
1. ASU   8-3 (6-1)
2. MTSU 7-3 (5-1)
3. ULM   7-5 (5-2)
4. ULL    6-4 (4-2)
5. WKU  6-5 (3-4)
6. Troy   5-6 (3-4)
7. UNT   4-7 (3-4)
8. FIU    3-8 (2-5)
9. FAU   3-8 (2-5)
10. USA 2-9 (1-6)

Notable games remaining:

Troy @ MTSU next week. Troy looks for bowl eligibility while MTSU playing for conference title show down against ASU Dec. 1.

MTSU @ ASU December 1. If MTSU beats Troy, the winner of the ASU vs. MTSU game will be the conference champion.

If MTSU loses to Troy and wins @ ASU, things get really hairy with a potential of 4 Co-champions.

Tennessee is pushing to get Gus as their next head coach. I guess we will see if he intends to stay at ASU or not.

I know for a fact they have offered Gus the job.

I know for a fact that they do not want anything to do with BP.

If I was Gus I would probably take the Vol job..... Hope he stays a Red Wolf.

Lionheart88

I think they're more likely to get Gruden.  Gus knows he needs to spend a few years as a head coach before he takes on an SEC program, or else he'd be the HC at Kentucky or Vandy right now.

How do you know for a fact they have offered him the job? I know some that are close to him that he wants to stay for a while. He loves Jonesboro.

Sat next to a tenn. representative on a flight to dallas this week. He was headed to Dallas to talk with another coaches right hand folks about the job to a coach there.

Gus is at the top of the list....

I never said Gus said he was going though.

Weather is suppose to be beautiful!!   Come on out and support the Red Wolves!!!   Lots of tailgating and Howling!!!

Especially if we win.

True Believer

Couldn't make it to the game.

:)

True Believer

Going into the 3rd quarter.   35 to zero.

Sun Belt Champs

Arkansas State University Red Wolves 45

MT zero.

Congrats!!!

Watching ESPN give out their weekly helmet stickers and I see them pull out an ASU helmit and give the Gus lead Red Wolves one for winning the conference. Kinda cool thing for little old ASU.

Hoghead

Congrats to ASU ! The 2012 Sun Belt Champs. Poor Hogs in year 20 of no SEC Titles !

sevenof400

Ditto Hoghead's comments.  Hopefully, ASU will get a decent bowl and opponent - one that features the team on TV without any other game against it.

And your post seven is why I think Hog's comment is funny.

Sorry Seven.  I feel sorry for the Hogs but not for the Hog fans.

No, no actually I take that back.  I even feel sorry for the most obnoxious Hog fan out there.  It's been a brutal year.  Petrino.  People everywhere making fun of him and his girlfriend.  That was by far the favorite costume for Halloween this year.  And then the absolutely worst season for the Hogs I have ever seen.

They could always come to watch the other Arkansas team.  :)

I am proud of those  Red Wolves kids.   I know a few of them.  They deserve a pat on the back for a great season.

Go Red Wolves!!!

True Believer

Going back to Mobile!   A lot of fans are griping but I say to them "I know of many teams that would LOVE to be going to a bowl at all!!"

I would rather go there than than Shreveport.  Yuck!!

Liberty Bowl would have been better for the fan base but oh well!

Playing Kent State.

ASU player Fredi Knighten, Pulaski Academy's QB for the 2011 State 4A Champions and Kent State QB Spencer Keith, PA's QB for the 2008 State 5A Champions will be meeting up in Mobile!! Congrats to both players and the entire teams for making the post season.

Side note,  both of Keith's parents are ASU alums

True Believer

Should be a great game!   That's exciting for both of these young men.  And both teams, coaches and fans.

You can take him. Lol we will be just fine without him. It's quiet around here because we are too worried about playing in our bowl game

Preciate it. Hope Drew does well at Arkansas. You probably need to wish them luck. They're gonna need it

I'll say again what I said in the SEC subforum:

Bad move for Malzahn and stAte.  He could have stayed at stAte as long as he cared to and been a legend on the level of Broyles at Arkansas.  Now he goes to a program that has a tendency of firing coaches who win double digit games.  He'll be there a few years, have quite a bit of success, and then get fired on a down year.

Hate it for y'all, I'm a stAte fan as much as I'm an Arkansas fan (maybe more since my mom and aunt are stAte alumni), and I was really thinking he would take stAte to the next level.

True Believer

If anyone thought he was going to stay around long then they are  delusional.

I'm stlll proud of those kids.

Howl Yes!!!  Go Red Wolves!!!

Jubba

A-State should keep hiring these one-and-dones if it means winning the Sun Belt every year.

Iknewthemwhen

Back to Auburn, that should be interesting.  Down program, on the edge of NCAA penalties.  Wonder how long they will give him to win.

Congrats to ASU !   Shreveport yuck ? Casinos & Entertainment are right there. Indy Bowl is a much better stadium than Ladd Stadium. 45 minute ride to the Mississippi casinos. Mobile does have better bars & restaurants. Enjoy Mobile though , Go ASU !!!

True Believer

I have been to Shreveport many times.  The last time I was on the boardwalk, someone was abducted and murdered while I was there.  I know that can happen anywhere but that has kinda stuck with me when I think of Shreveport.  Remember Hoghead, even Memphis doesn't scare me.  I am street smart but that was just plain scary and I haven't been back.  This way in Mobile, I could put a few days on the beach too.  :)

4 coaches in 4 years is why ASU will NEVER be an elite program...

Arkansas may have been down for a year, but we will be back...

I hope all you ASU fans had fun kicking us Hog fans in a down year...because the Freezes and the Malzahns are not just gonna keep coming down the pike... ;)

Still think Steve Roberts was fired too soon.

Another way to look at it is that ASU could become very attractive to young talented coaches because of these coaches making their way into the SEC via ASU.

Both fan bases have become very adept at that. The inconvenient truth is that in the big picture both schools are nothing more than also rans in college football.

Maybe, maybe not...but ASU will never have any continuity until they keep a head coach longer than a year...

Arkansas is one year removed from being ranked #5 in the nation...Petrino screwed up, JLS was GAWD awful...I guess if that's an also ran, oh well...Arkansas will be back...they are in better shape than ASU...

Ohio State, of course depending on which poll you rely on...lol...doesn't matter though...ASU will always be second tier while the Hogs play in the premier conference in America...ASU can have their best season ever and won't hit the top twenty five...

Coach Venny Slocombe

Oh and by the way, great game Friday night. My son, wife and myself made the trip to Stuttgart Friday to see Billy. Real impressed with the Ricebirds. #12 has a cannon and the team speed was impressive but what really impressed me was the line play...very good. I will be there Saturday as well...

Hoghead

ASU will always be little ASU. After 20 years in the SEC with not one SEC Football title, Im not sure who Arkansas is????    I still say go Hogs and go Indians/Red Wolves ! And yes they should play each other !!!

Abducted on the Boardwalk  and murdered ?  When and what year ? The Boardwalk is one of the safest spots in Bossier City. It's loaded down with police and security. This must have happened at a Casino parking lot. There's no Casinos on the Boardwalk.
As for Mobile(I use to live there too) It's a little seedy there as well. Ladd Stadium isn't in the best side of town. Heading to the Beach in January in Alabama isn't a good thing. It's gonna be COLD !!

Mr. Negative.   I don't care what time of year it is, I love the beach.  I just don't like Shreveport that much.  Been there when the Hogs have played there.  I would rather drive down to Orange Beach after the game.   2007 was the last time I was in Shreveport.  No place is safe anymore.
