Is the episcopal game here or in Warren?

Originally it was a Warren home game.  Haven't heard any different.

Bring it HOME!

JACKS dominate Monticello 7-2. 34 shots on goal, controlled the ball for the entire game. Oscar P. with back-to-back hat tricks (last night and tonight) and four other JACKS scored goals.

LadyJacks dominate Monticello 8-1, sportsmanship rule went into effect early in the second half.

Warren plays at Lake Village on Thursday.

JACKS soccer gets the win over Lake Village tonight 8-5.
JACKS lead 7-1 win they subbed out with 20 minutes to go in the game. LV scored a few late goals to make the score appear much closer than the game actually was.
6 different players scored goals tonight, with Taylor B. scoring twice. LV played a defensive minded game, with as many as 8 players inside the 6-yard box on most of the JACKS scoring opportunities.

JACKS play at home on Monday night against LR Episcopal.

Romeo

The two toughest games are next week. Hamburg will be the toughest competition. They beat Episcopal 4-1 yesterday.

The two toughest games are next week. Hamburg will be the toughest competition. They beat Episcopal 4-1 yesterday.

Hamburg had the better players but Episcopal was up 1-0 with 20 minutes left (albeit from a PK).  To that point Hamburg had received 2 yellow cards for contact with the goalie - one for foot causing a bloody mouth and the other for a late charge/body slam.  With 20 minutes left, Episcopal keeper beat a Hamburg player to a ball and went down for the save.  Hamburg player challenged as well and the keeper came up with a bloody mouth again and 2 teeth knocked back (held in by his braces).  Referee made a decision to let it go.  Instead of a second yellow card (thus red) for a Hamburg player and playing with 10 men, the Episcopal keeper needed to come off for treatment and a field player went into goal.  Hamburg scored two quick goals and the game was over.  I would've liked to see the game play out without that challenge and the Episcopal keeper needing to come off.

SportsDad

Teams that are allowed to play overly physical, tend to give the JACKS a much tougher game. It sounds like Hamburg was very physical, especially with the keeper, according to the previous post. It should be an interesting game with Hamburg next Friday, especially since it is at Hamburg.

The game with Episcopal should also be good. They generally have solid ball skills, but the key will be whether or not they can match the speed of Warren.

Looking forward to watching some great soccer next week!

(Just a side note: it is sad when the center official does not properly protect the keeper. It is a wonder that the game didn't get out of hand with retaliation after all that nonsense.)

Let's finish out 2-0 and head toward that state title. Let's go Jacks!

SportsDad

JACKS dominate LR Episcopal with a 7-0 win. Mercy rule went into effect halfway thru the second half.
Oscar P. with another hat trick tonight. Episcopal only had one shot on goal and only about 8 possessions on the JACKS side of the field.

JACKS play at Hamburg for the conference title on Friday night.

Now, the LadyJacks game was much different. The game was tied 1-1 at half. Episcopal scored with 4 minutes left in the game, but the LadyJacks answer with a goal by Hannah R. with 39 seconds left in the game. The game went to PK's and the LadyJacks won 3-2 on kicks with the final kick coming from Anne Y.

The LadyJacks secure their first ever conference championship and the #1 seed from the 4-4A for the state playoffs in Harrison next week.

Big accomplishment for the girls team. Five years in the making. I didn't expect the boys team to beat Episcopal that bad. Friday's game will be a good one.

YES! That was a huge win for the girls program.

I knew that the boys would come out and play well because they played very poorly against Lake Village. After seeing the Episcopal players warm-up, I knew that they had tremendous skill, but would not have the speed to keep up with the JACKS. I told a friend earlier that I thought the JACKS would win by five, but changed it to a mercy rule win based on the "eye test." I would have been even more of a blowout if not for the great game by the keeper from Episcopal.

Jack1990

Award for a couple of the Lumberjack Soccer players this week.  Kinda cool to have them both from the same school!

The starting Episcopal goalkeeper is no longer with the team - removed by his parents due to a second mouth injury (apparently he had surgery after the Hamburg game).  Tough for him and the team.

SportsDad

That is a tough loss for LR Episcopal... He was very aggressive, perhaps a little too much, but I would rather have an aggressive keeper than one who just sat back and allowed things to get too close to the goal.

Let's finish conference champions. Go jacks!!!!

Jack1990

The Lady Jacks have already clinched their Conference Championship...now it's time for the Lumberjacks to beat Hamburg and do the same!  Let's GO JACKS!!!

SportsDad

JACKS get upset at Hamburg 2-1.
JACKS dominated the game in every area, except for the fact that both of Hamburg's goals resulted from PK's on phantom calls and great acting by the Hamburg player. It is sad that the conference championship was decided by bad officiating, but it is what it is.
Hamburg had two handballs in the box, one arm tackle in the box, and another foul in the box...but none were called because the center official was out of position most of the night.

JACKS are now the #2 seed from the 4-4A and will possibly face Dardanelle in the second round.
Gotta win four straight to win State!

AirWarren

AT Hamburg huh. See the sucky football officiating rolls over to soccer too.

Romeo

The last time a Warren team lost the final regular season game and conference title they went on to win state.

Cmon warren fans. Y'all are better than that. You got beat. It happens. Get ready to make a run at the championship now.

JACKS dominate Centerpoint in round one of the state tourney... 7-1... Oscar P. with a hat trick 26 minutes into the game.

LadyJacks play sluggish today, but pull out a come-from-behind win over Arkadelphia in the last three minutes.

Both the JACKS and LadyJacks play Dardanelle tomorrow in round two...

JACKS at noon
LadyJacks at 2pm

SportsDad

So here we are...
JACKS vs. Dardanelle today at noon...

Here is the pregame summary of both teams.

Dardanelle.... very good team, great ball skills, strong and physical. They had a tougher first round game simply because their opponent stacked the box and made scoring hard, but they were not really tested yesterday. The score was close, but the game was not. Not sure if Dardanelle has been tested in conference play except for a close game against Berryville a few weeks ago. They have played several larger schools throughout the season to get ready for a game like this.

Warren... very good team, great ball skills, speed everywhere. They dominated yesterday and were able to rest the starters for most of the second half. They were not really tested in conference until the last game, an upset, controversial loss at Hamburg. The JACKS also have played up in competition in order to get them ready to play this type of game as well.

IF the game gets overly physical, the edge goes to Dardanelle because they are bigger.
IF the game does not get overly physical, the JACKS get the edge because of their speed.

The first time these two teams met in March, the game got physical, but the official was calling the game close and the JACKS won 4-2. The game had 8 yellow cards if I remember correctly.

IF the official calls the game close today, the edge goes to the JACKS.
IF the official allows too much contact, the edge goes to Dardanelle.

Long story short, this should be a great game and it should be close game. Both teams set up their schedules so that they would be ready to possibly face each other here in the state tourney. Now all the prep work is over and the game everyone has anticipated is finally here, although two rounds earlier than most thought.

I *think* it will be the same referee from the beginning of the season, funnily enough. Funny how all that works out sometimes

Great game!
Great played game by both sides...

Warren scored about halfway thru the first half on an excellent shot by Alex R.

Dardanelle scored about five minutes into the second half on a ball that was kicked around by about four or five players and the keeper...

Dardanelle scored the winning goal at the 72 minute mark of the game on a ball that the keeper misplayed in the box (one of his own players ran into him causing the mishandle).

Dardanelle had 11 shots on goal, the JACKS had only 8 shots on goal (fewest of the season).
Dardanelle got called for 11 fouls, the JACKS got called for 14 fouls.

Dardanelle controlled the time of possession the entire first half, while the second half was fairly even.

Officiating was the BEST it has been all season, no complaints.

Bottom line, Dardanelle played better today.

If you play this game 10 more times, each team probably wins 5.

It will be a shock if anyone stays within 3 goals of Dardanelle the rest of the tourney!

Go JACKS!

Romeo

Valiant effort by the boys team today.

The Coach

Very impressed by the Warren Lumberjacks as a team today!! Coach Densmore has done an outstanding job building a solid program and is 100% class!!! Great things are coming for Warrens boys soccer program!! Congrats on a great season!!!

AirWarren

Congrats to the coaches and kids from Warren. Great season!

SportsDad

After all is said and done...
the JACKS ended up with wins over 4A champ Dardanelle and 5A champ Hot Springs...
unfortunately, the JACKS lost to Dardanelle at the wrong time (state quarterfinals) which ultimately decided the state championship, as the winner was going to demolish the rest of the field.

The JACKS could have easily competed with anyone in any classification this year.

as for the LadyJacks...
Their only losses were to class 6A El Dorado at the first of the season and the 4A champs CAC... their loss to CAC was a much closer game than the actual CAC/Gentry game, so that game probably determined the eventual champion as well...although CAC was much better than everyone else in 4A

Boys also lost to Hamburg and girls needed PKs to beat Episcopal after scoring a fortunate equalizer in the waning moments of the game.

Yes, the Ladyjacks needed PKs to beat Episcopal.  However, what you failed to mention was that Episcopal's first goal was a fortunate deflection and their second goal was allowed on a highly questionable non-call on a breakaway when the Episcopal player tripped the Warren defender to win the ball and score the go ahead goal.

What is not in question is the never say die attitude of the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks.  When Episcopal scored with about 4 minutes to go, most teams would pack up and call it a loss.  The Warren boys fought until the very end against Hamburg, but just couldn't find their, as you say, "fortunate equalizer."

What is unfortunate for the rest of the 4a-4 division is both teams return the bulk of their team (both teams only lost three starters.) "You don't rebuild a program, you simply reload...."  Think both teams are already looking forward to seeing Hamburg and Episcopal again, albeit in some new conference tournament.  2017 is the year of the Jacks!

SportsDad

Yes, the JACKS did lose to a decent Hamburg team that laid an egg at the state tourney. That being said, Hamburg was not on the same level as Warren and Dardanelle throughout the season... no where near as dominating. They were the recipients of some very questionable officiating that gave them the win against Warren. If Hamburg had been a legitimate contender, they would not have lost to a #4 seed in the first round.

So, losses to Dardanelle, Hamburg, and Hope (on pk's) were the JACKS only losses, yet they had wins over... 5A champ Hot Springs, 4A champ Dardanelle, 5A powerhouse DeQueen...

If one wanted to see a real soccer game... no stacking the box, but actual possession soccer with great skills involved...the Warren v. Dardanelle game in round two provided just that... championship level soccer (in any classification).

First I would like to congratulate both of your teams for having outstanding seasons. Second, have you considered petitioning the AAA to give Warren the runner up trophies for the boys and girls since they actually didn't get a fair opportunity to compete in this years finals?
