One plus one

With all the bad weather and getting bored, are there any rumors about coaching changes?

goldballs

Got a candidate that would do well for some Arkansas HS jobs, but they are hard to find. He has D1, D2, JUCO and HS experience and has coached the NCAA D2 all-time leading passer and a NCAA D1 top 10 all-time leading passer. Where should I send him?

whippersnapper

You can find most job listings on ahsaa.org then go to bulliten board and coaching jobs. I am sure someone could use him

goldballs

Not a lot there. Will it pick up eventually?

gatecrasher

Bump.
(so this thread shows up in my unreads).

Openings will start popping up in late Jan. and through May

olemissjacket99

It's best not to judge a program especially not being from Arkansas or having had previous Coaching experience in my opinion.   You just kinda downed those schools like they aren't good enough and that doesn't look well either.

Good Luck in your friends job search.     The openings do start more and more after contract dates are up as well.

goldballs

I wasn't downing anybody. I was talking about the number of open jobs compared to other states at this point.

DogsWin7

Forgive the misunderstanding.

Can I ask why you picked the name 'goldballs'?

goldballs

In the state I am from when you win the state championship you get a big golden football trophy

Arkansas has a lot less football playing schools compared to other states.  Here is the turnover over the last 4 years.  A couple of these were pretty late (one year I think Fair opened during August practices).  February / March is when most of them open.
2010 - 37
2011 - 29
2012 - 25
2013 - 36

Will LRSD do a better job on their coaching search then last year. Not saying they didn't get quality guys, but it happened so late. I don't think it gave them a chance to have success last year. Will it happen quicker this year is what I'm asking?

From what I've heard the process will be a lot faster this year. New AD wants this done soon.

One plus one

Anyone hearing about any openings?  Head or assistant.
It's been very slow.

JohnBarleycorn

I think there will be a few openings very soon.

I would, but I don't want to speculate. Just a few rumors I've heard lately.

It the same down in TX  Most don't post till Feb or March.

One plus one

Guess it's a good thing, but I think it's just going to be a slow year for coaching changes.

Coach DePriest, Sheridan

I would say that 9 or 10 is about average for the end of January.  There will be a couple open in the next week or so. Who those schools hire will determine how many dominoes will fall this year.  If they hire assistants or out of state guys, there won't be many. My guess is we will end up with about 25-30 changes this year, which will be a low figure comparatively.
