Just to get this started, and so we can have a bracket here, please post any info you can on the 5A West conference tournament.
It starts on Feb 20 and runs through Feb 24 at Greenbrier.
I believe Harrison boys have lock up the #1
Thanks, Cajun.
I'll keep updating the OP as we discover more.
Girls on west side set:
Vilonia 1
Morrilton 2
Greenbrier 3
Maumelle 4
Boys 2 teams are set:
Maumelle 1
Morrilton 2
3 and 4 all depends on winner of greenbrier/vilonia next Friday night.
Thanks BrierDad for that info - I am not sure I have the brackets right though so please remember this is a work in progress!

The 1 overall seed? Or this stupid West vs East seed? If doing this East vs West seed crap, how could Maumelle lock up East seed when Morrilton is undefeated?
How is there a post on seeding on tournament when nothing is decided?
Coaches. Fix this now. Meet and seed.
1. Harrison
2. Maumelle
3. Morrilton
4. Farmington
5. Greenbrier
6. Vilonia
7. Clarksville
8. Alma
It's that easy.

Ponca, each of east teams played Maumelle in non-conference game and they beat them all. So they are 1 seed.
Are we talking about Battle at the Brier or other tournies in non district play? I didn't think those games counted for district play. For instance, didn't Vilonia beat Greenbrier but that doesn't count for district but Maumelle wins and it does? Now I'm totally confused.
The games that were going to count for seeding purposes were identified by the coaches at their preseason meeting as I understand it. The down side here is that info is easily accessible to the fan. Especially for those teams who played each other on multiple occasions.
Maumelle vilonia greenbrier and morrilton have all played each other twice throughout the year (with the exception of vilonia vs greenbrier next week).
Boys
Maumelle is 6-0
Morrilton 3-3
Greenbrier 1-4
Vilonia 1-4
Girls
Vilonia 5-0
Morrilton 3-3 (owns tiebreaker over gb if gb were to upset vilonia)
Greenbrier 2-3
Maumelle 1-5
Not sure how someone can argue much with seedings based on games played.
What day are semifinals and finals. ?

Greenbrier, Morrilton & Vilonia played round robin in conference and Maumelle played each of them in a conference game and that's what decided the east standing/seeding. The AD came up with this plan.

The semi's should be played on Thursday, Feb 23 and the finals on Saturday, Feb 25 Elvis. Four games will be played on both days due to the need to determine 3rd and 4th place teams.
I will update that info as soon as I know for sure though.
Ok...According to what I just saw in the newspaper the Finals and Consoldation games are played on Friday, not Saturday
If Farmington beats Russellville tonight, they get the 2 seed.
If Harrison beats Alma tonight, the winner of Alma/Clarksville (@Clarksville I believe) will get the 3 seed.
If Alma beats Harrison tonight, Alma gets the 3 seed and Clarksville the 4.

WRONG ON ALL 3
CONFIRMED THAT SEMIS ARE THURSDAY AND FINALS ON FRIDAY PER GREENBRIER AD
Just found out that your conference record doesn't count for seeding at all except your record against teams in the same conference. So basically we've been playing games around the state that have no impact on your conference seeding.
The conference tournament brackets are posted on the greenbrier website greenbrierschools.org under quick links. Not all spots determined but possibilities are posted. I would imagine it will be updated at some point over the weekend after tomorrow nights games.

I think they are undefeated in their mixed 6A/5A conference, which means nothing for seeding the 5A-West conference tournament. The only thing that matters, at least for the 5A-West, is head-to-head results. The 5A-West is divided into a west side (Harrison, Farmington, Alma, & Clarksville) and an east side (Maumelle, Morrilton, Vilonia, & Greenbrier). For the conference tournament, the East #1 will play the West #4, East #2 will play West #3, etc.
Hopefully, that looks better.
Harrison's win over Farmington tonight has finalized the girls bracket.
Final Seed completed on West:
1. Harrison
2. Farmington (owns both tie-breakers)
3. Clarksville (owns tie-breaker over Alma)

In "non-conference play"
The whole thing is ridiculous.
Harrison went 6-0 against 3 5A West teams. They didn't even play the other 4 teams.
The best thing that could happen is if the 8 5A West coaches got together on Saturday and ate chicken and waffles somewhere and seeded 1-8 based on eye test and results. Anything else is ridiculous.
Fully updated and ready for Monday.
Thanks Cajun Hog for that final piece of the puzzle.

Well now, no reason to expect the East part of the West girls to be around after day one now. And no state tournament for Vilonia. Wow.
Honest question, when's the last time Vilonia's girls haven't been to state? It might be as simple as "last year" but I just can't remember.

It's been quite some time as I recall AT. I'll have to look this one up.
wow. 4 seed beats the 1 seed. Any chance another 1 seed falls tonight? (I don't think so).
That was exciting. That's what 1-and-done or 1-and-advance is all about. 5A West has been missing out on this for so long. Very tense and exciting. Alma fans were going nuts last minute of the game. Vilonia fans were done complaining and accepting loss.
Maumelle boys are HUGE. Look like a college team. My 1st time to see them. I don't remember them having big guys like this in past. Alma boys got their work cut out for them.
I'm headed to find a place to smoke as I got weird Goblin fan hanging around me. May find another seat for next game.

Alma vs Maumelle boys game intense 1st half. Alma attacking Maumelle pressure and put them in foul trouble. Was in bonus in 1st period. #20 stroking it from 3. Had 7-point lead with 3 min left in half then you could see it. Alma's legs were gone. Maumelle closes half strong and hit 3 at the buzzer to go up 2 at half.
Best part of 1st half was Goblins boys showed up to gym just before that Maumelle run when Alma was up 7 and I saw a few "what in the world's".
I think the 2nd half gonna come down to if Alma's legs are gone vs Maumelle foul trouble.
Now to get in a quick cigarette before 2nd half.
Ponca
Farmington vs. Greenbrier on the boys side is going to be a good game considering Greenbrier is playing at home. Farmington was a good story this year with one of its key pieces bailing in the offseason and still piecing together such a good season. Harrison was a good story, but that was obvious.
We're typically not a first-half team. Usually about midway through the third is when we shift into overdrive.

Great team you guys have Chief. Good defensive pressure. First half I thought we might have a chance because our zone seemed to be working and the Hornets weren't shooting the ball that well. I thought perhaps you guys weren't good shooters. Second half proved me wrong. I don't think it was our legs as much as Maumelle ramped up the defense and started making their shots.
Missed free throws hurt Alma in the first half. Maumelle is a good defensive and rebounding team who seems to be streaky with shooting. Great team. Classy players too. No chippiness.

If Harrison looks like a college team then Springfield Kickapoo looks like an NBA team. They made the Gobs look like a jr high team.
HOLY CRAP!
Been watching Goblins online all year. Seeing them live for the first time? WOW!
That was an absolute clinic of a 1st half.
Harrison may be one of the best if not the best transistion teams I've seen. They move the ball so fast. Pass so well. It's like watching a team on PS3 with the difficulty settings set on beginner.
Viloina has some talent. It showed in 1st Qtr. But BAM! Gobs kicked it in gear I haven't seen.
Maumelle / Harrison looks like a dream matchup if it happens. Goblins offensive speed vs Maumelle speed it up D.

I watched that Kickapoo game online. That one kid that signed with Xavier got insanely hot in 1st Qtr and the game was over then. It was even the rest of the game.
In that same tournament though. Goblins made North Little Rock look very average. North Little Rock was never in the game. And North Little Rock looks like the shoo-in to win 7A state in Arkansas.

Come on man. Doesn't Parkview have at least 2 D1 players? And Mills has 1 D1 player?
I think Harrison has faced 1 D1 player all year and that didn't go well.
I see why Maumelle had success vs team like Parkview. They speed you up with their defense. That would cause a problem with a team with D1 players because it breaks down the other players.
Which is why I think it would be dream matchup with Harrison because Harrison speeds things up on offense. Maumelle speeds you up on defense. Which style wins?
But good golly. That was a passing clinic in transition offense by Harrison tonight. It looked like a game played on PS4 or XBOX.

It would be fun to see basketball playoff go like the football playoff with home court to higher seeds and games on Friday nights. Would allow more kids from the schools to attend. But that's just my opinion.

GOBS had too many turnovers. Motown seem to be guarding Curry quite a bit, that's fine but Harrison has a lot of other good shooters.

Goblins and Lady Goblins winning streak is still going.
But will the Cinderella story Airedalettes put a end to the Lady Goblins wins in the 5A West championship game?
Will the Golden Goblins be able to win against the 1st seed from the West-East, Maumelle for the 5A West championship game?
Stay tuned for tomorrow night. Same Bat Channel, same Bat time.
Thanks for the updates, GP.
Hope it's a good one for the Airedalettes tomorrow!
Initial post updated with latest results.
How deep is Harrison's bench?
There are probably 10-11 players who have played varsity minutes not counting trash minutes. Depends on the night a lot of times.

Of those 10-11.......in a tight game the number is more like 8 after an injury.

I guess it will have to be as deep as we need it. And then we have the boys team also. LOL

Gob fans not too happy with that last second terrible call on Glenn.
Made the long drive again from West Helena for tonight's Harrison vs Maumelle game. Whoever suggested Wagon Wheel. Thank you. Excellent place.
This Harrison vs Maumelle game gonna be off the chain!
Looks like Lady Gobs got this game with Alma wrapped up.
I believe Farmington girls won, not sure of score. Yet.

Gonna be honest here. West plays East 1st round right? I don't see any of the West girls advancing past 1st round except maybe Harrison. Harrison will get the 4 from East and that helps. But even Harrison will likely be underdogs.
I'm talking Girls here.

Watching warm-ups. Good god Maumelle looks unreal.

I'm glad that Harrison played in a weak conference. LOL
But seriously, a great game. Too many turnovers by both teams. GOBS need to start making FTs.
INSANE 1ST HALF!
GOBLINS PLAY SO dang FAST! Committing too many turnovers though.
Maumelle stroking it from 3 though.
This is a big boys game no doubt!
There's someone here repping some Maryland Terps gear. Not sure who he's here to see though.

Maumelle showing their athleticism. GOBS still not making FTs.
Oh my. Quan's dunk was FILTHY.

Maumelle has a fabulous team. Congratulations Hornets.
The West needs to bring it to the East now.
WOW!
That dunk by Maumelle on Goblin kid was the 2nd half in a nutshell.
Local Flavor was best player on the floor in the 1st half. I don't remember him doing anything in 2nd half. Goblins fast transistion game was non-existent in 2nd half. They were out of gas. Except for that Curry kid. I expect he's taking his game to the next level.
Maumelle is real deal. They can stroke 3's. They never run out of gas. Can drive and score. Give their coach credit. His 2nd half adjustments if he had to make any was difference.
Totally different game in 2nd half.
Now long drive back to West Helena.

Gotta be Tremont.
Local Flavor is going to Southwest Baptist.
I think Local Flavor is selling himself short. Should go Juco then sign with D1 school after 2 years.
Caught some the live stream at the end. Like some have already mentioned that may have been the best in game high school dunk I've ever seen. Talk about catching bodies! And Ponca, Curry is going to Newman University, a D2 in Wichita, Kansas.

That dunk was ridiculous!
Never heard of Newman, but they got a good one. Curry kept going. Whole game. He never ran out of gas. Real deal guard.

Where did you hear the decision of SBU for Atwell? He's that struggle spot for colleges to go get. 6'6 is an odd size for the build he has and being in between playing positions at the next level. I've thought the whole time a D2 like SBU would be a good fit for him.

He's still got work to do to even step foot on SBU campus. I think it's academic. Don't like posting this.
Though Marseilles didn't score as much as he can, I heard that he got a scholarship for golf but I can't remember where.

Arkansas Tech.
Maumelle creates chaos man. Their speed is crazy. They take the legs out of opponents for second half. Thought 1 stepped up tonight and played better than I've seen this year. 2's dunk on Harrison was best dunk I've seen all year.
I didn't like how the foul count was even. Maumelle playa hard physical defense on all 84 feet of the floor. Harrison played half court defense tonight. I don't think refs should try to keep could count even in that instance. Thought that was pretty crappy job of refs. But props to Maumelle for making Harrison look like a bad shooting team with no legs. Good luck to both teams moving forward.
Also, I love how Morrilton boys play. Boys are under sontrol and discipline and play good hard old school ball and you can tell their coach really emphasizes discipline. I enjoyed watching him coach and their team play.
Good luck to all the 5A West teams. Let's go sweep the East to make up for going 1-3 in football.
When a team is lesser athletically they will often foul quite a bit against a more athletic attacking team. Especially when they are trying to play man to man and can't stay with those guys.
Did you watch the game? Maumelle was hand checking the whole time. It's not always just about who is more athletic. It's about discipline and moving your feet.

A little after the 2 hour 39 minute mark is Quan's dunk.
