Hmmmm.....I was kinda hoping that it would show how fast ASU is catching up the THE UofA.....

I guess that we would have to go to the Top 250 to see their progress....

"Arkansas State University....the Boise State of Craighead County..."

Once again.  Exhibit A.  Someone starting an ASU-UA thing.

Second of all, I don't think anyone expects ASU to be on the monetary level of those schools, but you can also see that none of that stuff wins games on the field.

Carry on.

MA

10th in the country..... 7th in the SEC lol

Say what you want, but the Razorbacks aren't some DUMP program. Lot of 8,9,10,11 win seasons.

That's the thing, no one has ever even tried to claim that UA is on the same level as ASU or vice versa.  No one has said Arkansas isn't a good program.

But too good to play ASU?  Flat out false when you play other teams in our conference.  Our schedule is like a high school schedule, downright stupid, especially when UA plays two schools from our conference some years, and an FCS school below our level.

At the end of the day Arkansas can spend all the money they want, they can be the flagship of this state, but they have no SEC conference titles and one disputed national championship.  Sure, they're better than ASU.  Same level as Alabama, Texas, and others?  I don't think so.

AirWarren

How are we not on the same level as Alabama, Texas, and others? We have beaten them before.

Has ASU?

Disputed National Championship? It is still recognized as a National title. Does ASU have a "disputed" National title? No and nowhere close.

Sure we haven't won an SEC championship...yet...but we have played in it. Would ASU be capable? No.

I understand more than Hog fans that you guys are proud of playing in a couple of bowl games, winning a sun belt title, and such. That is great for the fans. But come on, we compete at two totally different levels of play. Your team is a sun belt team and we play in the SEC. Put you guys in the SEC and you don't win a game. Maybe against a bad kentucky or Vandy team.

I wish we would just play you guys one time, beat the brakes off of you, and end this silly discussion.

Surely you don't think that Arkansas has the amount of accomplishments that those schools have?  How many big-time college football programs have you heard of that haven't had a conference title in 20 years?  I can't really name one.

ASU has beaten Texas A&M, and played with countless others.  We actually do have a small school national title from 1970.  Go ahead and laugh, but you asked.

Dang right I'm proud.  I'm not going to let any fans of any other schools run down our accomplishments.  We have nothing to be ashamed of.

We both compete in FBS football, so it's the same level to me.  I don't think you guys get it.  Sure, the SEC is more talented, and at a different level of play, but as ULL proved this year against Florida, WKU against Kentucky, and ULM against Arkansas, it isn't as "different" as you think.  I have full confidence that ASU would compete against SEC teams, especially if they came to Jonesboro.  Of course we aren't going to beat Alabama right now, or LSU, but I think we'd have a chance against Arkansas, Mizzou, Ole Miss (I know for a fact Ole Miss didn't want any part of ASU this year, Freeze said our talent level was much greater than theirs and Ole Miss went 6-6 and is in a bowl game), Mississippi State (barely beat Troy), Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, and maybe Vanderbilt.  That's more than half of the dang conference right there.  I know Florida was good, but they barely got by ULL (whom ASU beat 52-27 AT Lafayette.

I definitely don't think ASU would get beat week in and week out 45-10 or anything ridiculous like that.  We might go 0-8, but we'd play teams close for the most part.  You can look at our results from playing bigger schools the last few years.  Most games are relatively close.  Now if you want the ASU before Roberts took over, then sure we'd be getting our teeth kicked in, but this isn't that ASU.  Our talent level is so much higher now.

But honestly, I don't really care, we don't play in the SEC and we never will, but I assure you those teams I listed off wouldn't have wanted any part of us.

I have no reason to believe Arkansas would beat the brakes off of us.

AirWarren

Of course I don't think we have as much rich tradition as those teams. Come on man I'm a Warrenite, those folks have sense!

Listen, I'm one of the people who can see ASU has improved. And I watched all the TV games this year. I also respect the fact that many alums are proud to be ASU alumni especially a large amount of people that are Warren alums. I have no qualms about that.

However I will argue with fact. We have beaten these top schools before like Bama, LSU, Texas, Texas AM, etc. We play them regularly. My argument is that we aren't some Podunk competitor in the SEC.

I have made the decision to not troll the sun belt board and make ignorant posts regarding the sun belt or ASU. I will continue to honor that. However, not you, but some of your cohorts seem to like to come on the SEC boards and try to run us down equally. It all needs to stop because it is ok for some to cheer for the hogs or wolves without making ridiculous claims about either school.

Yeah Arkansas has beaten some of them.  I don't think anyone tries to argue that ASU has more tradition or is in a better conference.  That's just stupid.

I've seen a couple of ASU fans do that, but maybe I'm just biased, but most of what I've seen is UA fans starting things (like on this thead) and ASU fans defending.  Some ASU fans do make ridiculous claims.  That can be said for any school though.

Most fans of both schools just like to throw out little digs at the other to see what kind of rise they can get. There are some from both who no doubt despise the other school and wouldn't pizz on them if they were on fire, just part of the game.

kind of like some folks that thought a 4-8 team was going to be a NC contender this year.

Several national pundits too, but both failed to see how much Petrino meant to the team and coaching staff. I'm sure you have the wolfs in the top 25 already for next year.
I have the wolfs ranked 74.

I just hope we avoid the bottom 10 next year.    ::)

As sad as it is I have to agree that Arkansas is NOT on the level with Texas or Alabama. Frank Broyles only beat Texas 5 times in 19 years. Texas had some major blowouts against the Hogs. Check the record, Texas owned us in the SWC. As for Alabama....we've beat them in thier worst years. When you go 20 plus years of not winning a Conference Title stopping fooling yourself..... Champions are compared to Champions. Pretenders and contenders don't even know each other !
Remember we have lost to Vandy & Kentucky ! We won't begin to talk about losing to UNLV, Citidale and ULM ????  Yes Arkansas is a great program in State. But go live in Alabama or Florida and see how they yawn at the conversation of them being on the same level. We lose to the Mississippi schools for crying out loud. Is Arkansas better than ASU ? Yes!!!!!  Should they play each other ? Yes !!!
If you can play ULM, Troy and MTSU, why tell the Sun Belt lie that the Hogs have nothing to gain from playing ASU ? We gain what from playing ULM ?

In 1975 Arkansas and ASU had a combined record of 21-2. ASU went undefeated. Played only one close game. A 14-9 win over Cinncinatti. Held everyone else to under 17 points. Arkansas lost to Okie St. and you guessed it, TEXAS ! But Beat Georgia in the Cotton Bowl. ASU sat at home undefeated. Pretty much how things were back then. Arkansas went 9-2 or 8-3 a few years and didn't make it to a Bowl Game as well. Not much respect for such a UA squad wouldn't you say ?

Didn't Bama lose to ULM? I have no misconceived notions that Bama and the Hogs are equals, Texas has a rich tradition, but most would say that they woefully fail to equal their hype, talent, riches, or expectations.
