If Earle had of forfeited 2 weeks ago the 7 would have 3 of the 4 teams in the semi finals. Mineral would have rolled Salem by 25 which is half of  what Foreman will beat Salem by. 🤐

bigboy77

Ventman

If they forfeited the entire season whoever they played first in the playoffs needs to be playing.

whoknows

hornets23byers

I agree but aaa has always been lost .

hornets23byers

He said who they played first which is mineral

Redzone

It sucks that MS doesn't get a chance. Would have been nice to play y'all in the semis.

Eslim03

The 7 is the best conference this season. Two elite teams makes some pretty good teams look bad. The only conference in the conversation is the 8 end of story.

Making own rules now... that's exactly what Earle was doing.  The rules are in place for a reason.  There is clear procedure when this happens.  The last team to play them moves on.  Thats. the rule.  So you think we should change the rules  middle of the playoffs?  Heck go ahead and allow that Earle kid to play while your at it.  It's simple everyone follows the rules and procedures set fourth by all agreeing schools.

tacklethis...

I think Earle should be suspended from post season play for next season. Something
Has to stop this from happening. Questions still remains for me, did they know he was ineligible?

Would you disagree bdubya60. If foreman and Mt. Ida play in the championship I can't see my statement off base. Really though even if they don't play each other the 7 has 2 of the 4 teams left before this debacle.

YOUKNOWWHO

so did the 8 last year and yet people still seems to think that they are not one of the toughest if the toughest conference in 2A

Eslim03

I will say this my take about the 8 is they are always either the best or second best conference in football year in and year out but all us little guys get tired of hearing how great the 8 is lol.

nothing taking away from the 7 yall had a great year this year prolly could have 3 teams in the final 4 but year in year out the 8 is the best and 6 is a close 2. the 8 is like the SEC of 2A

MagicMike

MS turned out to be decent but decent is about it. Mt Ida and Foreman, everyone knew all along they would be contenders. The rest of that league was trash.

baseball13

magicmike I agree but sometimes you hit it hot at the right time and go far and that is what Mineral Springs did. I think MS could beat Salem and that would put 3 of the 4 from the 7.

You insert some past stats to make a argument but if you read my post I'm talking about 2017 not the past and I also gave the 8 props. Me posting now isn't taking anything away from the great 8 past accomplishments. Y'all still have a very good team in it that might win it so talk about them not the past.

The 2 best teams in the 8 are moving to 3A next year. They should be good playing 2 A football.

I think every conference in 2A is top heavy. A couple conference champs got exposed this year but usually the seedings hold up.

No doubt Ida and Foreman are for real. I just don't think having two really good teams leads to what you would call a great conference.

I mean everyone is basically trying to say MS would smoke Salem. Salem actually played Earle better than what MS did the second time around. MS got two scores late in that game one against mostly 2nd string and the other against all second string. So I don't think there is anything other than to think it would be a good game.

Just a long way of saying the 7 May have the two best teams but the most dominant conference, meh maybe

I think so too. The Earle MS game was not as close as Hooties and MS fans seem to think it was. After the first series the only way MS stopped Earle was when Earle stopped themselves.

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone but Camden Harmony is going to run through these teams. I'm not a fan of any of these teams just a realist.

I can't speak for Foreman but Mount Ida has heard it all before. If CHG beats Mount Ida they will have to earn it. We will find out soon enough!

Haha... it's cool.. just crowing a bit. We heard it last year from Hampton. We heard it from Bearden in 07'.

I know a bunch of slow rear kids aren't suppose to stop all that speed. But somehow they do.. crazy!

SWAT11

Well a lot of folks from south Arkansas will be bitter again. The great 8 lost to Mt. Ida again. A team that is too slow and un-athletic. At least it was not at the rock or at Stidman field. I don't know if there will be any excuses from Harmony Grove. They seem to be very decent folk for the most part. Unlike Bearden fans and especially the Hampton fans on here. Mt. Ida, for the present, has taken something you wanted and you have a lot of trouble accepting it. Thus the excuses and lack of respect. Mt Ida was picked to lose by hootens tonight. Here is he real deal as I see it.

21 game winning streak
Coach is 115-44 at school.
7 conference championships
2 conference runner ups
3 undefeated regular seasons
2 state championships (both great 8 teams)
Playing for another
In just 12 seasons

Mt Ida "shocked the world" in both state championships. Underdogs always. Well hootens and south Arkansas, keep it up. Obviously you are just lighting their fire. Best of luck to you if you ever see them again.

monster_island

Swat11, you need to differentiate between posters on this board and fans in the real world. I met a Hampton fan at the CHG game who was very complimentary of the MI team, both last years and this.

True! IF they have some talent as well! What Filmcrew and others such as myself get the chuckles and the irritation about is the bewildering lack of regard for the sheer physical ability of the Lions to go along with the dicipline, focus, and coaching. It is what has made them unbeatable up to the present time. Let's see the guys doing most of the playing on the O-line go about 280,275,240,240,255,and an outlier that goes about 175 who is tough as nails. And they are not fat boys either, but weight-lifting beasts who will boil off that line and knock your a** off! And the backs....start with 'the mule'(as in strong as) who goes about 215 and his running buddy who goes about 195. Not track stars, but ain't slow! But wait......who scored on that 41 yard TD run against chg? Why it was the 200 meter state champ! But pay no mind, we're slow, remember? And the guy who starts in front of him is a warrior and not slow himself. The qb? Slicker than slick and a great leader! Now, many of these same cats play 'D' so just translate all this to that side of the ball. Add in our defensive specialists, which includes both DE one who is about 6'4'' and very athletic and tenacious and the other who is not as tall but about 210 lbs and will fight you like a bulldog. Which one you wanna run at? Add in a db who is pound for pound as good as there is in the state, possibly the teams best tackler and a fearless headhunter. Check out the foreman game where he hit the ballcarrier so hard that the ball went 20 yards......backwards! Whew....sorry to go on so long but when explaining about a team with so much going for it, it can't be done quickly.
Will leave you with this.....earlier we played marked tree and they came to town with an 8-2 record and owned a victory over a 4A school that itself finished 7-4. All we heard prior to the game was how they had the talent and were gonna kick our a**. We had them 56-6 in the 2ND QTR!!! I believe no starters played in the second half. That's what this team is capable of. Know anyone else who could do that?
Alright enough of that. Foreman is up next. They are very, very good. We played our best game against them IMO. It is indeed hard to beat a good team twice in a season. Lions, don't get the Fat Head. It will get you beat every time. Just do what you do and let us do the bragging for you! I have every confidence you will.
So for those who don't seem to get this whole 'talent' thing, (hooten's among others) maybe this has shed some light.

SWAT11

Monster, I thought I did when I said "on here".  If I wasn't clear I sincerely apologize.

I have read their post. And I understand that yalls brand of football and your kids shouldn't be able to beat all their talent. And if you win, well it's the refs or something. I love old style ball. Reminds me of coach Rippey at Boonville.

Very well stated Legacy...Mt. Ida is not a one or two man show. It's the coaching and teamwork that has made it all come together. I thought it was humorous that someone made mention earlier that they realize that we lost two outstanding DEs(Beasts) last year and thought that they could take advantage in that area! Boy, were they wrong!

Appreciate that! I have to admit that I was concerned about a drop off at DE as well. Those guys were beasts in the first degree, 6'3'', 6'4" and in the 240-250 range. Both headed down to SAU. Gotta confess I didn't see it coming where this year one would elevate his game so much, and the tall one move from db so successfully! But dang it, they did! Durn near effective as last years duo. Probably are. And that is saying a lot.

One last thing and I will get off of this kick for awhile. It's a good thing these guys are so team oriented cause when there is talent all around you it is easy to get overlooked. I have neglected to mention the TE's both who have done yeomans work. One also is our backup qb and is very talented. What an arm! Also goes about 200 lb and does a heckuva job at linebacker. Hopefully I have not left anyone else. Oh yeah, got a heckuva kicker too! Alright....I'm done.  For now.
