What do you all think of a bubble screen on the last play of the game? Predictable? Chance of scoring? Just want to hear some thoughts on it.

If you're ahead 9 or more points I would consider it a bad idea.

Scared they'll get a pick 10 on the last play and win the game?

That would be a neat trick.

My point is simply that without knowing a lot more details answering this kind of question is completely impossible.
Up 7
Great line
Running the Wing T.
Good call or no?

If it works noone whines...if it does, you are an idiot coach that should be fired....well that's what the fans would say 🤷

If you are up 7 why are you running anything the last play of the game aside from the QB kneel down?

Depends on many factors. What formation are you using? How is the defense lined up? What coverage are they playing? Do you have the numbers at the point of attack to make it successful? Where are you on the field? I'm sure if you give me time I can think of a few more 😂
Hahaha

Wide receiver screen, often to the wide side of the field. Considered a quick hitting play. Given that it means fewer blockers ahead of the ball carrier than in other screen plays.

Pretty sure he was joking that it's not in their playbook.

Isn't throwing the ball illegal?

If not it should be. 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 of them are bad
Just off hand last play of the game to run an effective bubble screen you need to be at least 40 yards from the end zone. Otherwise the defensive secondary won't be backed off far enough (to defend against a final play bomb) to give your receiver room to maneuver after the catch.

I've heard this for years and wondered why nobody has ever corrected it...what about pass interference, roughing the passer, offensive holding

Bad for Who? Pass interference good for offense, roughing passer good for Offense

I always liked seeing my quarterback taking a meaningless hit after he threw the ball

If I remember correctly, this was a quote from a old-time coach to justify why he preferred to keep the ball on the ground. His point was that passing the ball is a risky proposition. Many of the best quarterbacks fail more than a third of the time.
What he didn't account for is that there are significant rewards to offset the risk.
You can just as easily say (correctly) "when you run the ball, four things can happen and three of them are bad".

All those coaches switching to spread offenses would seem to disagree with you.

If it gives us 15yds and he's okay...then yeah all day, plus with the way rules are now it doesn't take much to get it

Would be a great trick play for us to open the season with a bubble screen on the first play against Fordyce, it might even score. ;D
