Bigpoppie

just wondering about numbers for spring ball.......i know there are a few 2a teams that may struggle to field a team......

Bigpoppie

Lafayette County has about 36 for spring practice

Backwoods Bart

Bearden had 39 this spring, up from less than 30 to start last year.

Hornet4ever

At the end of Spring practice I believe Hackett has finished with 39 players. Double the number of kids when I graduated a few years ago. Our football program is changing for the better, and it's a pleasant to say the least. Lol

Ventman

Those are all very good numbers for 2A.

Anything over 35 is excellent in my opinion for 2A.

That is more than I played with my junior (23) and senior (25) years combined.  Hope last years success carries forward.  Go Green,

With those kind of #'s, if they don't win state, that's a failure and the coach should be let go.

Danville should be in 3A anyways. If they don't win state that's a joke, with 50 plus kids you should be able to throw fresh legs in and pound down on teams with half those numbers.

fbisgreat

Danville had like 30 9th graders on last year's jr. high.

Wildcatalumni21

I believe Hector has a little over 30 kids out for spring

Wonder how many of those kids will contribute?

Out of 50+ kids you will have quite a few that may not be stand outs, but will contribute greatly.

Boy the LittleJohns should be in the semifinals sounds like for sure. You never know though, they still have to play the games.

I hope they don't even make the playoffs, but I'm not dumb. Danville will be there in the end more then likely.

mtindian42

Marked tree has 33 out this year good numbers for us.

I take  it that you don't think much of the LittleJohns do ya hornet?

Allen T

"I hope they don't even make the playoffs" I guess when you loose most every time you play Danville it tends to make you a hater. Go Little Johns!!

Just don't have a lot of good things to say about them Vent. I respect their success, and the coaches seemed respectable every time I was around them. However, the players I've played against and most of the fans were very rude, cocky and unpleasant to be around. Things may have changed since the last time I have been around them, I doubt it though. Whatever.

Cheek

The last time Danville was in 2A they had a good team and were a favorite to win the Atate Title.  They went to Carlisle and left with a loss.  So Vent does not have a reason to be upset with Danville.

I don't think Vent is upset with Danville. Think he was just asking me what my beef was with the Little Johnnys.

Ventman

Heck no I'm not mad at the LittleJohns. I'm glad their back they should have a great team and they have some great fans here on Fearless.

I've been around high school football for quite a while and will agree that fans can sometimes get a little "ugly" toward the other team. I remember a game several years ago at Hackett. Thing's were not going well for the Little Johns and my brother-in-law who was with me on the side lines screamed "break his leg". I told him that if we wanted to get home that night in one piece to watch what he says! Yes, we all have fans that go a little over board at times. I've done it as well. It's alright to shout and scream for your team as long as it's done the right way. Sometimes tho, you hear things that should not be said. A few years back when Danville played Magazine away I heard the N word shouted several times from across the field. That person should of been escorted out. And I'm sure that there were folks on our side of the field that were also just as bad. Shout, yell and have fun. That's what High School Football is all about. Just do it in the right way.

Very well said Allen T. I agree cheer and yell for your team but be very respectful of the other team and community. It's just kids in playing a game.

Well said. I respect the words. I Just don't have the greatest relationship with Danvilles fans. But I hope this year is better, I love high school ball and don't like the way things have happened in the past.

HogWildBison2011

Danville had a very impressive team that made it to Carlisle that year. It was unfortunate that I had to step in between fans in the parking lot. The horn they brought was obnoxious as well. Other than that all of the other fans were delightful.
