If Kirby's boys would have won there wouldn't be empty hotel rooms in Conway.
I feel like the Norfork-WV game will be like the ICC-Kirby. Two teams that should've faced each other in the finals but instead will battle it out before and have a much easier game in the finals, or in ICC's case, the semis and finals
By easy I don't mean they'll coast through and win the next two games, I'm saying I would much rather place my bets winning against a 1A team that wasn't Kirby lol same goes for the winner of the Norfork-WV game.

Kirby didn't have much size and that came to be the case today. Cooper was grabbing rebounds left and right. And Carson Smith missed a CLUTCH free throw that probabaky would've put the game in OT. But he should not kill hinder over one play. The kid played amazing the whole tournament and is the leader of the team clearly. I was very impressed with him.

Kirby's still in the state tournament.. I guess people keep forgetting that. Girls lost their best player, Gracen Smith and still came back and beat Mammoth
Kirby girls def deserve to be there and are a good team. But it's a shame Norfork, WV, and Bay girls were all on the same side.

Nope... Apparently not... Same thing is happening with Mountain View in the 3A girls. Everyone made excuses for Riverside when Mountain View beat them, and then Riverside lost in the first round.
Should be an interesting game for them tomorrow. They mercy ruled Melbourne a couple weeks ago. Have a feeling that won't happen again, but one can hope.
Guy barely got past armorel tonight. Tomorrow will be interesting. Mount Vernon got a day off. That could make a big difference

Kirby was for sure playing hard. Both teams were. IMO Kirby was scoring well and then tried to hold the ball and that killed a bit of the momentum and the they tried to make it a 2 possession game and missed and as soon as the little dude from ICC hit that deep knock down falling backboards way up in the air 3 ICC took every ounce of momentum away from them. And Kirby started fouling. I wanna say it was Cooper? Missed the first free throw made the second. Kirby had a chance to tie it on a last second shot and missed.

Kirby out scored ICC 8-7 in the second quarter. Hard to say they did the wrong thing.
They ran a box and one on cooper. In the first half it work like it should, and icc's Man defense was pretty good, but Kirby was having to attack them to get anything. Faulkner had 3 fouls in the first half and cooper had 2. But when Kirby attacked in the 3rd it was like the easy ones werent falling and the fouls weren't their. When icc threw the ball to the corner. The offside block was wide open... 21 probably had 8-10 points off of it. Which is obviously enough to make a difference. And in the second half. Coop got the boards he wanted, and he got a couple transition buckets which also proved to be important. But what was the dagger for icc... is Kirby adjusted to the offside block... and the little freshman was offside wing, and he had room to get off the shots he wanted. He was deadly and made Kirby pay outside.
Carson smith may have missed a freethrow after a full timeout, but he also had 30 of the 47 points... I think the game came down to the offside block in the second half. I'm not sure Faulkner even scored but he had 3-4 assists right to it, Kirby adjusted and that popped up the freshman offside wing.
The scariest thing is...the core of ICC's team is freshmen and sophomores...we could be looking at a Nemo Vista girls type run for the next few years

Mammoth won the county tournament or whatever it's called as well last year. That was also an ICC team without Cooper though. ICC's jr boys handled Mammoth pretty easily this year and that was with Faulkner moved up

Unfortunately the officiating is something a team can not control. However.. a team can make an effort to adjust to the officiating. That's something that I don't think Bay did very well throughout the game. When you have two or three starters with 2+ fouls in the first half, they should be able to realize how they refs are going to be calling and adjust for that.

if it makes you feel better, if it wasn't for the Jonesboro crew at Armorel that was completely one-sided against ICC, you guys wouldn't have had to worry about officiating playing against Kirby

Everybody keeps saying this, yet no one had an easier road to the semi's than Norfork. The first good team they play and they lose by 20. Hmmm.
Hats off to ICC, they were good sports and have a good team. Their two best today were #42 and #25 a sophomore and freshman, respectively. The difference in this one to me was #25, we just didn't have someone who was quick and tall enough to match up with him. They will be a good team for a while with those two.

MVE was a great team. I didn't realize how well they could shoot the ball but man, they could fill it up. It was a great game all around. Good luck to you guys in the coming years.

Western Grove played better than any team I've seen this week in the first half. Then they fell apart in the second. Looking forward to next season, they'll certainly be a legitimate contender. Returning all starters.

While they're not the only Sr, they've been by their dads side as long they could walk. From team camps with the Sr boys since they were in kindergarten. It's been a fun run they've had! Now to see them cheering their dad on from the stands will be a new experience for all, I'm sure it'll be just as exciting!! Thanks everyone for a great state tournament!!

Was sitting beside a guy from Western Grove who told me "that was the best half of basketball those boys have played all year, it's not over yet" and I'm glad it wasn't. Western Grove gave Guy a run for their money. Had everyone in that gym doubting Guy. But Guy hung in there.

I'm not even a WG fan, but if you know anything about how basketball games are called in North/North Central Arkansas, you could say that WG got themselves handed a hose piece by way of the refs by how if I remember right Guy only had 3 fouls in the fourth quarter. Every one of Guy starters would've fouled out in the third if that game was in Harrison. That's only the third time I've ever seen Guy, and they just don't seem to care about giving any effort at all, but just so happen to win.

Ok, well for one that was just my personal opinion so there's no need for that hostility. I meant that they look like they were looking past their competition with how lackadaisical they play, in the case of tonight a very good WG team, and it looked like they didn't realize they were actually playing a really good team until midway through the third.

Yeah....people on here had crowned Norfork as champs. Got beat by 20 in their only hard game of the playoffs. WV beat Bay by a few. Wonderview beat MVE 4 times, but most have been close games. I guess that's the reason we play the game instead of vote on it.

Once again, he was their go to guy the past few years. He was their best all around player. Idk how many times I've talked to other coaches who have said the same. I seen times where Rodgers would let him loose and he'd go for 20 in the fourth quarter.

officiating didn't cost wg that game, didnt even have an impact, slowing down to try and hold the ball in the 3rd quarter did. Most folks I talked to couldn't understand why they slowed down.

Good grief...what game were you watching....Hutch (third generation) was allowed to play football while he jogged his way back down the floor. He got away with more contact than Bill Cosby on a third date. Western Grove was the better team. Just got handed to them by the "Legend"

the team I wanted made it actually...for the boys. Was really hoping the Norfork girls were gonna pull it off as well...but crap happens. If it makes you feel better I actually like Godfather Hutch. If it wasn't ICC they're playing I would actually be rooting for him

Hard to believe a team could repeat with 4 seniors...and 2 of them didn't go there last year isn't it?
I was cheering for the Grove and I can't blame the loss to Guy on the refs...I also did not see any D1 players on the floor..
I also don't think Bay has a legit gripe, on the final play 2 different Bay players walked.. The refs just let the players determine the outcome and the horn went off to end the game with Western Grove ahead..
Western Grove has a player on campus that came in at break from Alpena who could help them next year.. I am not saying that they will be back to the final four but I will say that they have a good shot at making it..
