Good pick for a home opener.
Nice to see more quality competition nonconference, not taking anything away from past years opponents or anything.

Variety is the key to improvement. Nettleton and Osceola will be a little tougher than Corning.

Still shouldn't have much trouble with either.

I wouldn't mind to see a Wynne or Batesville in those slots every now and then.

Easily.
I would like to think easily as well, but you never know with Gosnell & Highland. Trumann is much improved also.

They might be tougher than the others but still I don't think they will have what it takes to beat Pocahontas.

I think Nettleton will hang with us for a half.  After that, I don't really think we'll be tested until the 2nd round of the playoffs.

I am anxious to see the scrimmage game against Blytheville. The have one of the top running backs in the state with Demekko Clark! He can fly!! That will be a big test for our defense!! We will know a lot about this team after the first two games in Blytheville and Nettleton.

Yes. And I can't wait to see the offense as well. This O-line is huge and mobile.

2nd round will most definite be a test, 3 seed from the 7 that conference is loaded.

Lumberjackfan1978

Yes they are pretty loaded this year

bigchief72455

I am hoping for Warren in the semi final that would be a great game.

Gosnell lost a lot last year including one of the best players in 4A. New coach, new offense, going back to the double wing.

Didn't your coach go to Southside.

We are week away from game day. Finally ready to get this show on the road.

Will take a lot bigger name draw for Batesville to play down to a 4A team.

Why would you hope for a 40 point blowout to be on your schedule? It won't happen. It's a waste of time for Wynne or for Batesville.

I don't know about regular season but scrimmage wise it would be nice just as a means of comparison and seeing different looks. Blytheville this year was a very valuable learning and motivational scrimmage.

Not saying we would win or lose to either, but a 40 point blowout is a bit of a stretch. Remember that was a "meaningless" scrimmage game.

bigchief72455

Getting close to game day. The excitement is building.

bigchief72455

The Sun is predicting Pocahontas by 6.

Nettleton will be playing a lot of sophomores I believe.  Their jr high was super athletic last year, so those young guys should help.  Not sure it will be enough to beat Pocahontas.  You've got speed & athleticism vs. technique & execution in this one.

I wasn't really impressed with their showing against Osceola.

PokeyRedskinStudentScout

As a student at Pocahontas, I must say I have never seen our players more hungry to start a season. They know that they are one of the top 4A teams in the state, and the whole 3-4A is after them. They lost the scrimmage vs. Blytheville, but they are a great team that will be great this year. We're chomping at the bit to get the season started, and a team like Nettleton is perfect to play at the start of a (hopefully) state championship run.

I'm not too familiar with teams in your area, but I'm glad we (as fans) can focus on State semifinals before the first week is complete!!!  Good thing our coaches & players prepare for each week.

Lots of mental mistakes tonight, hopefully we get things turned around soon.

I was very surprised at the level that nettleton played at tonight. I don't know how good the rest of the 5A east is, but nettleton could be a sleeper.
