Rison's closer to PB than Star City is lol. Rison still has the Cannonball train come through town every morning to take the workers to Pine Bluff and back

Quote from: Pr8hd on Today at 02:11:53 pmIt's not too much different than a small school benefiting from kids transferring/school choice to them for playing time they may or may not have gotten at a larger school. Kids just want to go where they can play, showcase their skills, and win/compete for championships. GW has seen it's share go both ways. I don't think GW is alone in that in today's world of varsity atheltics. GW's move ins are just more high profile or covered by social media especially with the likes of some already high profile kids like the Archer brothers on the team.

GW has lost it's share of kids with talent too. This even in key areas that needed depth, make no mistake. GW has been very thin at QB for this very reason. The main difference is GW's backups in many cases are likely starters or key contributors at other schools.

I hate that you guys have had to deal with only 1 really talented qb at a time on the roster.

This makes sense, a promise to leave part of the school open is a big chip when discussing consolidations...

Yes and they both stayed open until it was absolutely necessary to close them.

Quote from: Pr8hd on April 12, 2024, 03:18:29 pmNo doubt previous relationship drew him to GW, but family did relocate. Beyond that, even the whole school choice thing makes it pretty easy to attend wherever you want in AR. Successful schools are going to recruit themselves and I think desire to compete for a title played more into the move along with playing with an old travel football teammate as much as anything. I don't think he needed the exposure per se if he was on recruiting radars already.

Offensively, they are returning like 8 starters so it's not like the cupboard was bare there. They only lost 1 returning starter essentially at receiver, so they were already going to have a pretty good corps of targets. No doubt, it adds to the arsenal, but GW has plenty of receiving depth with or without him, many kids born and raised in the program since grade school. Honestly, if they were really 'recruiting'  for need - there is way more need defensively.

In the end., parents and kid made the choice.I don't think it's much different than the kids enrolling at Fayetteville that came back to the area that are high profile kids.

This all of this. I did chuckle on "X" a former player that transferred from Shiloh to VB his Freshman year. Calling out public schools allowing this to happen.

Quote from: PurpleNWhite FTW on April 12, 2024, 06:20:24 pmWith Calipari taking the reins at Arkansas, will there be more of an emphasis on three point shooting and spacing than there was in Muss' system, which was more of a "drive the ball, get to the rack, draw fouls" system?

I certainly hope so!
