Growing up in little rock, I didn't know anybody with a basement. Here in STL, everybody has one. Is it because of the granite, cost, any ideas?

Those things save lives in a tornado. I've read too many stories lately about folks who sought cover in the closet under their stairs.

They didn't sale them when you were growing up, like they do now.  These days storm shelters are for sale, like the car ports beside them, on vacant lots everywhere.  I would vote to make installation code, on all new homes.

That, or a safe room, that's what I have.

We had a basement growing up.

I sure miss it in these storms.
